Hip - Fun - Location doesn't match the vibe – Trendy ambience welcome by the locals who were looking for somewhere to go for a nice night out (instead of driving into LA) Eclectic (fun) menu, dishes were all delicious (tried a variety of appetizers, side dishes, entrees and dessert) Can get loud in the later hours. Great energy, beautiful people - and great people watching. Great bar area to lounge have appy's and drinks. Friendly wait staff. Sunday afternoon a great time to go when it's quiet, sit in the bar area, have some great eats and drinks to watch a game. Outdoor patio with firepit looks fun too.
Best neighborhood restaurant in Conejo Valley – I had read all the good and the bad when I decided to take the plunge at P6. My friends had recommended the "678" properties so I was expecting good things. Coming from NYC where I had lived for 31 years, I had lofty expectations for food and service.
I arrived early for dinner and went to the bar to wait for my GF. The vibe was very cool, and the atmosphere was as stylish as I have seen on the West Coast. There were pretty bartenders slinging drinks so I grabbed a Lucky beer (so good) and took in the scene. Young professionals and some 40's to 50's in the crowd.. Great music mix streaming through the lounge and bar.
My GF arrived and we were seated in the main dining room. Our server was very attentive and knew everything about the menu. We took his suggestions and started with the tartare and crisps. They were UNBELIEVABLE. We also shared the chorizo dates. A very creative and original dish. For entrees, we had the filet and the "fantasy burger." The filet was excellent, very flavorful with an awesome asparagus side covered in melted cheese. If you are going to put a burger on your menu, then it better be the best. I had a bite of the burger and it was killer. I'll put it this way. It was so good that I came back for lunch the next day and ordered it for myself. Melted gouda cheese and sauteed onions. Wow.
Anyways, the service was first class; very professional, yet not formal. I am always impressed when I leave for the bathroom and come back to find my napkin refolded. A classy touch. Our server was very well educated on the menu and coursed us perfectly through dinner. He paired a Lincourt Chardonnay and a Neal Cabernet to complete our dining experience. I am very impressed with the service standards at P6.
I have found my new neighborhood "favorite."
Sundays rock @ P6 – I stopped in P6 for a drink last Sunday not knowing anything about the place and was blown away! I sat at the bar and a local there suggested I try one of the Sous Chef's specials. I guess he is in charge on Sundays. The best pasta dish I have ever had! Grilled shrimp over fettacini. So simple and so amazing. The food was super fresh. The staff was friendly and enthusiatic. The crowd was welcoming. I ended up spending a lot more time there than I had planned on. I even tried the Sous's special dessert! This guy is good. I eat out all over Hollywood and New York and he rocked my world! A Chef to watch for sure.
From what people at the bar were saying Sundays are the day to be there and I will. Very pleasantly surprised.
All flash, nothing else. – P6 is very cool to look at....but since nobody really goes there for food, you'll be looking at a very cool, empty restaurant. The drinks are priced way beyond stupid, and they must be very proud of their food, since $12 for 4 tomato slices on a cute square plate did not impress me.
The waitresses are very pretty, too. But since they stroll by with no real intent on service, you're on your own.
Go for an overpriced drink, but go somewhere else to eat.
Overall rating: All flash, not worth a dinner bill.
Awesome – We were happily surprised with the food and service. Even the bread was awesome. It's a great local place with a nice outdoor area. Drinks were great too with a pretty good wine list.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Like an urban love nest circa 1974, P6 is a commotion of oranges, reds and golds, with low-hanging light fixtures, water walls, swivel stools and bucket seats. Up-to-date appetizers include rock shrimp lettuce wraps, blue crab-and-salmon bisque and sausage-sprinkled bruschetta. An extensive menu features grilled filet mignon with goat cheese crumbles and braised coconut halibut. Salads, pastas and sandwiches are offered at lunch. Dessert include chocolate molten lava cake and vanilla bean creme brulee.
Dissapointed especially after the rave reviews – I work for a public accounting firm so I get to eat out a lot and use CitySearch to find some of the best restaurants in town wherever I might have my client. This week brought me to Westlake Village so I went on CitySearch and found P6 to be a well reviewed restaurant.
Ambiance: The decorations and mood are definitely lounge type and very classy. I was very impressed with the overall feel of the place
Service: The service was average. The waitress did come by often at the beginning of the meal, however toward the end when we needed her, she was a little slow to pass by.
Bread: the Bread is pretty good, and the butter they have is pretty amazing.
Lobster Bisque: Stay away from the Lobster Bisque. First of all, lobster bisque is supposed to be pinkish in tone, NOT GREEN. Seriously it looked like split pea soup. Second, there was no flavor of lobster or any discernible pieces of lobster in the soup. It merely smelled of the essence of lobster. Lastly, it was not creamy at all. All together an absolute failure to create a lobster bisque.
Fried Calamari: too oily and not enough seasoning
Salads: a couple of coworkers got the cobb salad which was very disappointing as well. The presentation was not effective, and it looked very cheap considering the price tag. Most importantly, the "fillet mignon" that it was topped with was cold and overcooked.
Stuffed Chicken: it was ok
Management Response: Well of course, we made mention of the bisque to the waitress who apologized for the soup, however we did not really get anything meaningful out of it. I would liked to have seen some sort of discount on our bill or at the very least, not charged us for the horrible soup.
To the people who have raved about this place as the best place in Los Angeles, please come to my neighborhood and eat anywhere on La Cienega between Beverly and Pico (Restaurant Row).
Don't miss trying this place. Surprisingly exceptional – I have my business luncheons once a month here in the conference room. It's fantastic. First, the menu is great. My favorite is the Fantasy Burger. It is by far the best burger in the United States. It is unreal good! For our lunch meeting, we choose from the luncheon express menu. You choose any two items for $15. You can have an appetizer, entree and/or dessert. The Asian chicken salad is so great. It's not your classic sesame dressing. But it's so great. A few members of the group get the gezspacho (sp?) and love it. The panini's are popular as well. This is the best place in town to have a business lunch for 12 or less. It's quiet and the staff is super professional. The service is second to none. When I have to impress a client in town, I take them to P6.
I have gone to dinner at P6, as well, and my husband and I enjoyed it. They recently had a butternut squash soup (my favorite) and it's the best I have ever tasted. I like the tuna tartar appetizer. That's great. I am not a big fan of the pizza. But I did have a pasta with a pink sause the other day and it was pretty good. I would find it hard to be disappointed at this restaurant. Between the food, staff and ambience, it's truly great.
Terrific service!! delightful, intelligent food! – Wow!! What a nice staff. Our waitress was so informed and helpful. We happened in on their 1/2 off wine night (Monday) and we were so glad we did!
A wonderful, Aussie wine that our waitress suggested (2 Hands Syrah) combined with some of the best food we have had in and out of LA. The manager stopped by just to check on us and chat.
We loved it and count us in on Mondays!
food and drinks are to die for! – i enjoyed the vibe from the moment i walked into the front door! it's like hollywood in my backyard, better yet new york city! the food was delicious and the drinks were one of a kind. i guess they just made a new drink list. and the bon-bon martini i definately recommend! the chef came to our table and greated us with his cooking knowledge! i highly recommend this restaurant to both locals and out of town guests! enjoy!
