awesome sugar scrub!! – I came to Oasis at the Affinia Dumont for a Brown Sugar Scrub, and I was absolutely thrilled with the results. Sandra did a really good job, and she was so nice! I didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable at all, even without my clothes on. And best of all, my skin was soooo soft afterwards!! :-)
Best. Facial. Ever. – I went to Oasis for their 60 minute Signature Facial. The relaxation room was gorgeous, with dried fruit, water with slices of cucumber in it, candles and soft music. My esthetician was Sandra, who did an incredible job. She listened carefully while I told her about my skin and skincare routine, and during the treatment she told me exactly what she was doing and why. She also told me about the products and offered to give me samples, but did not push them at all. In fact, she recommended that I research them and decide whether they would be a good fit for me before buying - the complete opposite of a hard sell! I actually did end up buying the moisturizer because I liked it so much. The entire experience was very relaxing and enjoyable, and it made my skin look flawless. Afterwards, I used one of the steam showers, which was lovely. I will definitely be back.
Kevin A is the best masseuse by far – Kevin did an amazing job on my back. Quickly located trouble spots and resolved them, without creating any flare-ups or pain -- something I was really worried about after a bad stretch of sciatica. He likes physical challenges, has incredibly strong hands and knows how to work out the kinks -- I was impressed by his thoroughness, and I feel the best I have in years.
I tried the rest but Gina and Kevin are the best! – My husband and I have been getting weekly massages from Kevin and Gina at Oasis day spa for over 3 years now. They are truly the best because their massages are strong, effective, and yet very relaxing. 60 minutes of heaven followed by a steam bath makes me feel like a million bucks! My weekly massages have allowed me to push myself further in my daily workouts and as a result I am quickly losing the baby weight. i gained during my pregnancy. My husband no longer needs to see the chiropractor for his back pain and he's now able to work out 6 days a week (his cholesterol went from 215 to 181). I can honestly say that Oasis day spa at the Affinia Dumont is the best spa because it's clean, affordable, and the massage therapists are experienced and knowledgable.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY – I have been going to Oasis Day Spa @ 1Park Avenue for years and have always been satisfied. Just this past weekend I went to Oasis @ Affinia Dumont for a 60 minute massage, I was very disappointed at this spa location. The womens locker room was not as clean as it could be and the shower was dirty and quite frankly smelled like urine. My masseuse kept me waiting in the relaxation room for 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Upon entering the treatment room the shades in the room were wide open and I had to ask the masseuse to close them, my masseuse was also wearing jewelry which jingled while she was working on me, this was distracting to say the least and I had to ask her to remove the jewelry. Lastly my masseuse required a lot more training, this massage was quite possibly one of the worst I have ever had, dare I say I have had much better massages at my nail salon. In closing I left the spa feeling more stressed than I did when I came in, leaves a bad taste in the mouth when paying $110. for a massage that was not enjoyable or relaxing.
Fantastic Massage and Excellent Atmosphere – Donald at Oasis at the Affinity Dumont gave me a fantastic massage. They fit me in around my schedule and it was just an overall wonderful experience. By far - my favorite spa in NYC - Thanks! :)
Had a Great Massage – My husband and I stayed at the Affinia Hotel a few weeks back. Not knowing there was a spa at the hotel, I made a last minute appointment, Luckily, there was one opening so I took it. It was one one of the best massages I've ever had. The masseuse was very professional and I felt like a new person upon completion. The staff was also very nice and accomodating.
Cancelled My Appointment – On Friday morning I booked a prenatal massage for my girlfriend for Saturday afternoon. The scheduler called me at 2PM on Friday to re-confirm my appointment. I received a call from a gentleman at 6:30Pm on Friday telling me that the scheduler made a mistake and double-booked the appointment. He did offer to take my girlfriend at 11:30 Saturday morning, but the reason I booked the appointment for 2PM was because that was the only time I could do this. They were very cavalier about this and that is not good business.
We certainly never intend to make booking mistakes, it is always a huge dissapointment for everyone involved. We diligently check the schedule for errors several times a day, and try to resolve problems before you come to the spa. We attempted to accomodate your girlfriend wih the earlier appointment because that was the only time available. I observed the call interaction between you and the reservationist and I cannot agree that he was cavalier about. In fact he was very sympathetic and tried to make it right. We know you were doing a very good deed for your girlfriend and we feel terrible it didn't work out. I hope you will forgive us and give us a chance to make it up to you. Please contact me personally.
Bruce Schoenberg- Owner
Bliss in MIdtown – The owners of Oasis at the Dumont and at Park Avenue know the business first hand. The owners are directly involved in hiring everyone, ensuring quality service. I got a series of massages from Dennis who was especially sensitive to my back issues. The facialist, Sushi, does ballet with her hands. It was the most lyrical, pain free facial ever...and no red marks. It is clean, peaceful, friendly and very professional.
Mixed review-Horrible customer service – I booked an appointment at the Oasis Spa at the Affinia Dumont. At the time of booking I was not told about the cancellation policy. The only thing the reservationist mentioned is the tip policy-in cash of course.
I called the next morning, and asked if I could reschedule for the next day, as a personal emergency arose.
I was told by the manager, that in addition to the their cancellation policy, which was not told to me, that they would try to fill up the time with another client
I had three services booked, what they did was remove the cheapest service and then proceeded to tell me that I would have to pay for the other two.
The manager on duty promised to speak to the general manager and failed to do so.
The only saving grace in this whole ordeal was my esthetician was phenomenal.
I've been to Oasis 5 years ago, but at the Park Avenue location.Unfortunately, because of the failure to disclose their policies, I would not come back to either location. Also, my workplace listed them Oasis as part of our workplace perks. Its unfortunate that I will have to describe my unpleasant experience.
