Food Poisoning - Avoid – SEVERE FOOD POISIONING - AVOID THIS PLACE
I was driving through Nashville and stopped off for lunch. It was the *WORST* decision I ever made because I got food poisoning, so did my boyfriend (we share two sandwiches).
It was not until we had been on the road again for a few hours that we became ill. Doctors said that it was what we ate (and we only had Starbucks coffee for breakfast so it had to be Bread & Company).
We called them to tell them that their MEAT WAS CONTAMINATED but they just said they comply with the usual food & safety requirements.
The authorities should CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN ASAP.
GOODBYE RIPOFF - PLANTED CITYSEARCH REVIEWS - used to work and eat here – This company has gone downhill faster than a greased toboggan on Mt. Everest! Consider: Why is there still not a website after two years of "coming soon". Why are there fewer employees and higher prices? Why won't the owner answer any customers complaints, etc?
This company PLANTS REVIEWS on citysearch!!! I witnessed it although it was supposed to be a "secret at administration" but we heard about it and I witnessed it. Look around November 2006 through early 2007!!!! For ALL locations. Who are the one-time or few-time reviewers with the 5-star ratings in the middle of all the other negative feedback??? INSIDERS. Hiding the fact that the owner is off fishing all over the world with YOUR $$$ rather than caring about your purchases. Or enjoying one of two Belle Meade houses. If you are employee that won't be abused or who has morals - find a job somewhere else!!!! Mommy really screwed up giving sweet sonny this business - it was great before he took it!
Don't support the mentioned and unmentionable "habits" - Jersey Mikes and others will treat you right and have owners who care!!!!
Saying GOODBYE to Bread and Company – My family has been eating at Bread and Company for years. Yes it is pricey, but the sandwiches are out of this world. Recently learned that our "13th is free" cards were no longer valid as they had transitioned to a swipe card as opposed to a hole-punch card. It was all fine and dandy until they informed us that they would not credit the swipe cards with the current hole punches we had for all of the other dozen sandwiches we had purchases over time. Screw it, I'm done with the overpriced sandwiches and $3 cookies. Jersey Mike's is so much better.
Bread & Company Hwy 100. I was a Big Fan, But Not Anymore!!!! – My wife & I visited on 9/28 afternoon for salads. We try to eat healthy. One of the salads came with a roll. I ask for a piece wheat bread instead. Employee said no, so I asked manager on duty and he said no!!.' We can not do that because wheat bread costs more than a roll. This was because the owners said so." I said fine. Picked up our food from the window. returned to window w/ menu in hand and pointed out that I was missing my chicken on my salad. The food prep person didn't understand what I was saying. I had to talk to M.O.D. again to get it corrected. Now I've been in the restaurant business for 35 years, so I have the greatest respect for the people in my industry and would never be disrespectful. But a 5 cent piece of bread and they messed up my food to the point that I couldn't eat it at all. $22.50 for two salads & small drinks. We will not be returning again ( We have eaten there weekly for the last 4 - 5 years, Ouch, won't that hurt the pocketbook in these tough economic times?)
Great Food and Service! – I go to this place every morning. The people who work there are always so friendly and eager to please. I absolutely LOVE the omelets they have. It is a fantastic way to start the day. If you have not been to this place I recommend it. A little on the pricey side, but 100% worth it. Fresh, quality food and a real warm atmosphere.
miserable management, chaotic environment, noisy and expensive – I marvel that Bread and Company is listed with five stars yet all the recent reviews share only one. Perhaps something happened after the beginning of 2007 in terms of management changes. I started going to B&Co after moving here in April 2007 and at first accepted the rude service because the quality of their pastries and sandwiches was quite good. Then things changed: while the environment had always been chaotic, noisy and cold, with abundant flies; it became unbearable to me when the quiet classical music was switched to inane loud oldies. Friends would no longer meet me there for coffee and conversation. i wrote to management (a thoughful respectful letter) and never received a reply. I've quit going despite the fact that I live in the neighborhood and loved being able to walk daily. Now I drive to a place that values my business.
Get this one – Got a Caesar Salad to take to Mom and Dads. Their real big so perfect for small sides for 3 people.
Mom transfered it to a nice bowl for Sunday Dinner. When she did that one of the pieces of lettuce had a big ole hunk (quarter sized so as not to exagerate too much) piece of mud on it.
When I returned it, the (position withheld to prevent retaliation from owners) that the lettuce was organic.
Now, I may not be the brightest marble in the bunch, but when did organic become synonymous with muddy.
To be fair--I have worked in restaurants in my day when I was in charge of cleaning lettuce and spinach...it's tough work. So a little mud doesn't bother me. Just don't want to be treated like I'm an idiot.
My vote--go to Provence or Marche. Leave the overpriced stuff to Belle Meade where it belongs.
Not worth the Money – To be honest, I'm fuming that this place raised their already high prices. The salad I enjoyed from there has gone up by 2 dollars. Outrageous!!!! I always put up with the crappy, lazy cashiers cause I liked the salad, but not anymore! I'll be going elsewhere. This company obviously has no idea what good customer service is.
Bad customer service and poor management – I have eaten at this location for lunch over a year and a half. Over that period of time, I have tried again and again to give this restaurant a "shot" and tried very hard to like it. It's a geat premise, fresh food, bakery, deli - it just fails miserably in value and service. First of all, the location is usually either way too hot or too cold. So while you wait at least 10-20 minutes for your food to be made you shiver or sweat. The last bad experience I had that solidifed the fact I would never go back, was when almost everyone in the restaurant had to wait over 30 minutes for their food. Two of my coworkers actually had their orders forgotten by the cashier. One of my coworkers had not been told at the register that they no longer made what she ordered - she paid for it and waited - only to be told they no longer make it when 30 minutes later she asked about her order. WHAT?! That day many customers were up in arms and rightfully so. I overheard some customers complaining to management. Do you think they were compensated or even given an apology? No. Most of the time, the cashiers are rude and the cooks are rude. Then, they quit carrying the one thing I remotely thought was worth their high prices - their smoked salmon sandwich. I've honestly had better experiences at fast food restaurants in the worst part of town. Good luck staying in business. The people who keep you in business are fed up with your lack of appreciation.
Good Food, Terrible Wait – Okay, I know it was foolish to try to go to Bread and Company on Mother's Day, but somehow I expected that if I got there by 10:00 a.m., it wouldn't be so crowded. Like I said, foolish. The wait in line to order was long, and the wait for the food went beyond 30 minutes. With two children in tow, it was a lucky thing that we could wander outside for a while for entertainment and then return to our seats. (Bring your own crayons and paper, though -- they are not so child friendly here, though it is casual.) Mid-way through our wait, they announced that the food wait was now up to 45 minutes. Yes, the food here is terrific. Love the fruit tea. My omelette was excellent. Their prepared sandwiches are terrific. But eating here is a nightmare that wore on my nerves! Once I got my food, I rushed through it because I couldn't wait to leave. One food gripe -- they warn you on the menu, but the kids' pancakes are pre-prepared frozen ones that they just reheat. They were tough to cut and awful quality. Can they not just make their own pancakes?
Overall, mostly good food, but terrible service. They need many more cooks!
Best plan is to whiz through and pick up the prepared sandwiches or salads on a week day. And good luck to you then.
