Food is better than the service – On the note of the other reviews, I don't think it is the best ribs or anything else in the country or even the county. The food is ok, the attitude of the staff with their less than happy to be there attitude is some of the worst I've ever seen. The girls behind the counter do nothing but talk about a little of everything from what I could hear when they are not taking orders. I saw no one smiling, or act like they were glad to have a job in this economy. I asked for a manager who was on the phone the whole time I was there according to the smart butt that took my order. I was there for nearly 30 minutes waiting to talk to him/her about my order that was not what I had ordered. The ticket I had matched what I got, but I'm sure the conversation between the girls up front about what they had done over the weekend was more inportant than listening to my order. I have been in there when the service and food have been better, but never have I left feeling like either one was better than that on any other place I had ever gone. Will I go back?? Maybe, maybe not depends on if I want to spend my hard earned money on bad service and just ok food.
BBQ or Mexican? – Being new in town I had heard about this place (both good and bad) and finally decided to give it a try for myself. As far as food goes it's ok I've had better but in fairness I've also had worse. I was a bit confused by the menu I was not expecting a lot of mexican choices, I opted for non mexican bbq. The cashier was probably in her mid to late twenties and if you ask me needed an attitude adjustment. I was there late lunch time and the kitchen crew looked to be busy cleaning while the front girls looked like they would rather be anywhere else but there. One of them even made the comment about couldn't wait til her break til she could grab a smoke and a beer. O.K. the help drinks on the clock . I had heard from a couple of different people that there was a lot of drinking that went on there but I wouldn't of guessed that it would be from the help. I don't drink much and this just struck me odd, but oh well to each their own. The guy in front of me when he got his order it was wrong, the kitchen got it right but the other cashier had not taken it correctly and therefore the back made it wrong. His comment to me was " yeah that's what she needs is another beer." When he got the right food he asked to speak to a manager and a plump short woman came out and seemed to be concerned and assured him she would take care of it he left a short time later, and as I was refilling my soda I heard the voice of the manager woman laughing with the cashier behind the swinging door. One of the things that I've always heard about the place is that it's family run, and the owner who is from my understanding never there only cares about a dollar and not the customer and that no matter the situation they take up for each other either right or wrong. As a consumer I can get bbq lots of other places without all of the drama that I witnessed there, and it just floors me that the manager took a genuine complaint from a customer and laughed it off with the employee.
AVOID THURSDAY NIGHTS WITH THE FAMILY – I enjoy good BBQ and this place has good food, but I'm not a regular at this place because of past experiences with the owner. A few weeks ago wanting BBQ my family and I loaded up and went there, and we were shocked to see a live band and beer specials on a Thursday night. The music was loud even as far away as we could sit from it and there was alot of people drinking. I had never seen that there before, but as I said I am not a regular. It gave me flashbacks of my barhopping days. I felt like a bad parent exposing my teenage son to something I've been trying to get him to avoid. The good food is not enough to make me want to take my family there again, but I'll keep them in mind if i ever want to barhop again.
Not Family or Kid Friendly – We thought that the food was good, but not anything special, and the service wasn't slow but could of been faster had most of the employees not been "playing around" or sitting out front visiting and/or watching a to loud football game. We have younger children and was shocked to see that they had beer specials daily and there were a couple of guys in there that looked like they had been there taking full advantage of them. It's a place that I wouldn't take my children to again, but maybe when it's adults only. The food by itself was not good enough to keep from feeling like I was in a sports bar instead of a resturant.
You've got to try it – Smokin in Style BBQ has the best ribs and BBQ I've ever had. You don't need sauce o their ribs. Their service is #1 and they're always very friendly and my food is served promptly and hot. I'm a regular customer there weekly.
