Worst experience EVER – We tried Dolce Vita b/c friends and I had a gift certificate. We were disappointed by the service immediately, but mentioned our gift certificate as we still ordered apps, dinner, and wine for four. It was a Friday night, but the restaurant only had 3 other tables of diners, so it wasn't full at all. Two bottles of wine we ordered were "out of stock" and one of the dinners we ordered was "gone for the night." The food was terrible (cold pasta, undercooked meat, taseless vegetarian option) and the service just kept getting worse.

At the end of the meal, the owner/chef (not sure which) openly yelled/argued at us when we mentioned we were also disappointed in the service and food and then they wouldn't take the gift certificate. Worst experience dining in Denver ever! Terrible - you should stay away.

Don't Waste Your Time - Skip Dolce Vita – This restaurant has average food, a poorly stocked bar, wine pours that make you wonder if someone already drank half your glass and worst of all, an owner/manager who embarrasses his wait staff in front of customers (Boooo!). Skip Dolce Vita and take your money elsewhere (heck, even California Pizza Kitchen serves up a better Margarita Pizza), this man doesn?t deserve it.

You'll love it, and it's a great value too – I?ve traveled extensively and no where does it like Dolce Vita. Near the heart of downtown, you will have a warm, friendly atmosphere with an incredibly diverse Italian menu. But, the ?welcome as family? feel makes this place my favorite Denver restaurant bar none. It doesn?t matter what mood I?m in, there?s always something on the menu to suite me perfectly. Antonio, the owner, has always made fantastic recommendations for both food and drinks. If you want a no-brainer, great meal, and great value, Dolce Vita is for you. If you want something simple, I recommend the pizza ? best in town. If you?re in the mood for something a little more divine, try the Veal Saltimbocca or Gnocchi ala Norma with a glass of wine? perfecto. Oh yeah, YOU HAVE TO TRY the calamari? wow is it good!

SO FUN – Dolce Vita is somewhere that you can go and just have a good time. The owner Antonio makes you feel like you are a part of his family. The food here is great, I'm an Italian myself and know how food is supposed to taste. Antonio knows what he is doing. I have never had a bad service here at Dolce Vita and I don't think I ever will. I know that sometimes places have there fall backs and things and that is what people need to understand. The people that have already written things and gave Dolce Vita a bad review need to keep that in mind. I come to Dolce Vita once a week, at least, I might have a full dinner with me and my boyfriend or just come here with my girl friends to have a few of there great martini's!! Even when I come for lunch alone, I never leave without talking with one of the staff or Antonio him self. This is somewhere everyone should go to enjoy themselves and their friends. Thanks!

Tasty when I've been there – The writers of the previous two reviews are very vehement in their comments, and I don't understand why. I've been there twice, and both times the food was very tasty -- obviously, it was good the first time or I wouldn't have gone back. The first time I was there, the maitre d' actually helped me on with my coat as I was getting ready to leave. Those working at the restaurant do engage in kind of loud conversations with diners, and I suppose that might bother some people, but everyone I've ever seen there has looked comfortable with the make-you-feel-at-home exchange. I've been there late, so maybe it's different earlier in the evening? ...

Worst food in town. – Veal Saltimboca was gross. Actually could not eat it. Even the bread is below average. My date had linguini that was so garlic filled that it was overkill. We both felt like our food was cooked in bad oil or something.

Latte was all foam with a half of a sip of cold cofee in the bottom.

The dessert was so bad, I just can't express how bad it was. It seems like it was full of crisco. Both my date & I were very sick for two days after eating here.

Too bad, great location, but the food> there is no excuse for food this horrible.

The Worst Service and Food!! – I have tried this restaurant a handful of times and cannot get over how bad the service is. I am truly surprised they have not gone out of business. I have never been greeted when I walk in the restaurant and they are sooo slow and unattentive. Once I had food delivered to my house and it took over an hour and a half with no apologies at all. The bread is always stale and cold and the spagetti is TASTLESS. Not worth even trying. A total dissapointment as I was hoping for good Italian food in Central Denver.

terrible service, average food – My husband and I ate there during restaurant week. When we arrived, we stood by the door waiting for a hostess or someone for about 5 minutes. Finally a women in a very skimpy shirt came over an informed us that there would be a fifteen minute wait. When we were finally seated we waited another 15 minutes for someone to bring us water. We waited another 10 minutes before someone finally came over to take our drink order. I dont know how long we waited after that, but at one point we decided to get up and leave. Just then, our waitress came by with our drinks but informed us she would be back in just a "few minutes" to tell us about the menu. I told her we were actually ready to order and she seemed really taken aback. Eventually we got our food which was average but we couldn't help noticing how many other tables were experiencing the same bad service as us. It was also frusterating because there were a few tables with people that seemed to be friends with the owner, who personally came over to them with wine and appetizers through out the evening. The hostess and waitstaff were constantly doting on them while the rest of the restaurant watched and waited. By the time we finally paid our bill, we had been there for nearly two hours. As we were leaving we overheard another table complaining about how long they had been waiting. I read a few of the reviews on this site before I made the reservation. Most were really good and raived about the service. I think they either knew the owner, or knew someone who knew the owner, like the few tables we saw. There experiences were totally different than our was. We probeby wont go back.

Plastic ramekins! – We visited Dolce Vita during Restaurant Week and were somewhat dissapointed. We were greeted promptly by a beautiful hostess, and our server, Anthony, was great and energetic. The rolls with marinara sauce were very good, but PLASTIC RAMEKINS! For a room so nice and being in the Beauvillon, I was surprised by this. We had pre-selected our menu choices from their "pre-selected" options. Calamari was great and the Caesar Salad was also very good, but 2 minutes after they delivered the "1st and 2nd" courses, our entrees were at our table (for 2). So after rushing through our first plates, the entrees were luke warm and didn't get to enjoy what could have been a nice dish. We realized that being Restaurant Week, many of the dishes were pre-made and served up in a "turn & burn" atmosphere. I might also mention, that one of the guys that was running food out, didn't quite look like he should have been on the floor, i.e. jeans, and chewing gum as he delivered food to your table. I hope the management takes this review under consideration, as those little things are what brings people back. Restaurant week is supposed to "showcase" your restaurant to get repeat business. I would have to reconsider going back. Thanks.

A piece of Italy in Colorado! – My husband and I are from Dallas and we recently visited Denver for a few days. We had a room in a very nice hotel in the downtown district. Our first night we were anxious to find a good restaurant within walking distance. When I asked the concierge for a recommendation he suggested we try Dolce Vita but that it was a short taxi distance away. Well let me tell you my friends, it was well worth it! My husband, a second generation Italian, and I were delighted from the first moment we walked in. We felt as though we were in Italy. This must be where Denver's Italian community comes to dine because it seemed that most of the customers spoke italian. My husband and I know authenticity and have a difficult palette to please. We asked the nice waiter for a recommendation because their was so much to choose from and he told us to try the Caprese salad, the Penne Vodka, and the Taste of Italy. I have to say that he was right on the money! We travel quite a bit and our experience at Dolce Vita was as good or better than any we have had in recent memory. For those of you that travel to the Mile High City, and are seeking the genuine article, be sure you try Dolce Vita.
