Yummy rustic pizzas – The pizza at Smell Shed Flatbreads is really good. They have a great variety of original pies. I also tried their twist on a mac ‘n cheese called the mac 'n gru. It was really cheesy and flavorful. Nothing beats a great mac 'n cheese, that’s for sure! This is a great little restaurant that is a must try in downtown Mill Valley.
Good idea if it was realized – This restaurant is really more of a fast-food place, not somewhere you would go to kick back and enjoy a meal. It is next to a burrito stand and it more that type of place. While the Small Shed talks about their fresh, organic produce and ingredents, the execution to this commitment is lack-luster. The simple wedge salad was made with lettuce so old it was brown, 2 slices of almost raw bacon (that was supposed to be the pancetta), and a watery blue cheese dressing. The was it was described with "Pont Reyes Bue Cheese" made it sound so tasty and fresh, but it was anything but.
Now for the main event - the flatbread. The same marketing promise with the organic ingredents exists on the flatbread menu. I ordered the "Shhhh" which was described as little neck clams with a variety of cheeses and herbs. This flatbread barely had any toppping on it much less all the tasty ingredients listed on the menu. Surely the clams were canned and not little necks - which are usually bigger and with more body than ordinary canned clams.
At nearby tables, the flatbreads all appeared the same: a smear of sauce and a minimum of ingredents.
But the menu sounds so promising! Wild mushrooms, nettles, garlic...etc. What you receive is a shell with nothing on it. Fine it you were ordering (and paying for) traditional flatbread wtih onions and herbs - like a starter. But they are selling a MEAL not just a appitizer.
The flat bread itself was deliciious: bubbled and cooked in a wood burning oven.
The wine is served in little tiny tumblers and should be a $1-2 cheaper considering the skimpy portion.
Salad, flatbread and a glass of wine = $34. I just can't see where this place delivers: picinic tables, minimum of freshness and portions, at full restaurant prices.
Incredible Salads and Flatbread! – This is a fun little spot with a cozy and rustic atmosphere. They serve a variety of delicious flatbreads (particularly the margarita flatbread). They also have creative and tasty salads. My personal favorite is the Bolinas Beat salad, served with beets, pistachios and Humboldt Fog cheese. The service is always friendly and prompt. There is also a nice wine selection and creative non-alcoholic beverages. I frequently recommend this restaurant.

This one-room, seat-yourself eatery offers a lively, convivial atmosphere. Sociable servers hustle from the service counter, backed by a wood-burning oven, delivering pies to families and small groups. Standard wooden tables and chairs and walls in muted earth tones mean colorful paintings from local artists steal the decor show.
Flatbreads, salads and sides make up an inspired, approachable menu. Prices may be a bit higher than your usual pizza joint, but it's worth it for quality, organic ingredients from local food purveyors. The "Antonioni's" flatbread, boasting all-natural pepperoni paired with roasted Anaheim and poblano peppers, will appeal to pizza purists while "The Shhh!," topped with chopped littleneck clams sauteed with garlic and shallots in sauvignon blanc, lures more sophisticated palates. Salad selections cover the basics, but save room for desserts: The chocolate cake with a molten center and seasonal fruit crisp with gelato make for especially sweet endings.
