Best Indian Food this side of London (and India, I'm sure..). Fresh, tasty Indian food. I absolutely adore their Jeera Aloo, Tikka anything, veggie dishes and pretty much everything else on the menu. Also a great selection of desserts and Indian beers.
One of my favorites.
I love Tufaan's indian meat dishes. The Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Chick, Sheesh Kebob and other grilled items are among the best in L.A. in my experience. I wouldn't order curry here, stick with the grilled meats. They are so tender and juicy you just can't go wrong. Their naan is great, too.
I also love the atmosphere in this place. Nice comfy booths, plenty dark, nice decor, conversations don't carry so you can talk with your party. Good for dates, good for gatherings.
Good. Very good Indian food, even if you don't really like indian - like me. Naan was very good. Goat cheese and mushroom samosas were ok (the dough wasn't that great, but when I took out the filling and put it on my naan - it was great). Lamb tikka was good and chicken tikka masala was very good - try dipping the naan into the tikka masala curry. Very nice ambiance (dim lights - somewhat romantic). Very good service, also. Its not cheap, but worth it.
Perfection-Best Indian Food In The Valley.
Tufaan is the best Indian food in the Valley!! I am a frequent customer and have searched far and wide for great Indian food. They deliver, the food is fresh and made to order! You can get the spice you like and the flavors are fantastic. I am always shocked that reservations are not needed.
Don't waste your time on Clay Oven or Taste Of India, go straight to Tufaan.
Get the Chicken Tikka Masala, or Chicken Vindaloo with rice and a garlic Naan. Some Samosas with Raita to start. Perfection...
Hidden Gem, Great Service, Great Food. I've been to Tufaan several times and have never been disappointed. The service is extemely attentive, table bussed constantly and we never had to pour/refill our beers ourselves. Standout dishes: malai kafta (vegetarian dumplings) and the chicken tikka masala. Tandoori is great too. Best Indian food in the valley. In my opinion better than Taste of India which my friends like. Outstanding!
Editorial Review. Popular for its attentive service, this Sherman Oaks restaurant serves traditional and eclectic Indian dishes, such as chicken tikka and mushroom samosas.
Nice and different. This is not your typical Indian restaurant... being Indian, I know the Indian restaurants around here... what was different was the service, decor, and type of food. The food is almost eclectic in style, but still has that Indian flavor... I mean, mushroom and greek cheese samosas?? Can't get more inventive. The taste still has that distinct Indian flavor despite having that edge in look and content. Traditional dishes taste very good and traditional, and the eclectic dishes make it worth trying. Will be going back soon.
Best in the Valley. You can't do much better for great tasting Indian food in the Valley. Their curries and Naans are top notch. A little pricey than what you may be used to, but definitely worth it. Service is prompt and friendly as well. Chicken Tikka masala, Naan, and any appetizer is highly recommended.
Worst ever. This is what Indian food would taste like if I made it. Bland, oily, and not enough herbs and spices. No excuse for Indian cuisine! I ate at this restaurant thinking you get what you pay for...absolutely not in this case. Food is overpriced, and the dishes are so bland you would only enjoy it if you are one of those who never eats spicy foods. What a mistake. I recommend anywhere else. Really.
Truly worth the visit. Being fairly new to LA, I have no problem getting recommendations for Indian restaurants - most turned out very disappointing. I found Tufaan myself and am so happy! I've visited many cities and they make one of the best Chicken Tikka masalas! Order a "dinner" (versus a la carte), which is complete if you're dining alone. This place is a best kept secret. You won't be disappointed. There's street prkg in front & prkg lot in back.
