Nice special occasion place – This place is quite nice and fits in very well with the SOMA scene. They have many original cocktails. Try the mai tai.
Great Service, Good Food – I went here for a birthday party and was very impressed. The service is great and the food is tasty. The only negative I can say is the prices are little high.
Worth its weight in ahi! – Poketini! Whether you want the traditional Ahi tuna or go veggie with marinated tofu instead - either way the poketini is to die for! Compliment it with a Pineapple-Hawaiian Martini and you are good to go. Everything here is EXCELLENT!
Delicious!!! – Today was my first time at Roy's and I loved it!!! We had dinner reservations at 7:30, but got there earlier. We were seated right away, and the staff was great. The food was excellent and so was the chocolate molten cake. I highly recommend Roy's for their food, service, and ambiance.
Best chocolate souffle! – I've been to the one in Austin, S.F., and L.A. and the food was pretty consistent and delicious. Their prix fixe menu is such a bargain too. Appetizer, entree and dessert for about $30. You can't beat it. Plus I really enjoyed the atmosphere/ambiance in all three.
Oh, and it is a bit romantic - or at least I think so. Dim lighting and delicious food.
Roy's ROCKS! – I went to Roy's for my anniversary and it was a fabulous evening. Seated promptly for our reservation. The ambience was great, service was fantastic. I ordered a drink that ended up being too sweet for me and they replaced it with a different one at no charge. The manager came around and talked to us and was very friendly. The food was fantastic and I believe our bill came to less than $100 and I found it to be a great value. Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to visiting the Maui restaurant.
Horrible experience!!! – I was very excited to dine at Roy's, however, the food & service were horrible!! I ordered the most expensive item on their menu, the "lobster", yet the lobster came to me overcooked with no flavor & ravioli's were too buttery. In overall, not satisfied at all. The manager was surprised of my comments, but didn't seem to concern her.
As a customer, I was not taken care of, which is my main concern for this restaurant. Additionally, as te lobster was market price, I paid a hefty price to be completely unsatisfied. I'm very disappointed!!
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone nor would I go there again!!
What happened to Roy's?? – This was consistently one of my favorite restaurants, but the service (or lack thereof) that I experienced on my last visit makes me wonder if I will ever return. Without a doubt the worst service I have experienced. Our waiter essentially ignored us, no dirty plates removed from our table, next course servied with dirty plates still on the table causing them to return the food while the table was cleaned. One molten cake was ordered at the start of the order by me, but my wife was never offered dessert. Just terrible. I should have called for the manager early. He acknowledged that we were mistreated, and comped 50% of the bill, a nice gesture, but our evening was ruined.
Again, the food (and service) here has been consistently good, but use caution if you plan to visit for business or an important evening. Things may be changing here.
one of the best! – i'm not big on fusion, but Roys has won me over. we went during the dine about town promo (1/2005) and i've been back four times since. one of those times was with 2 children (1&2 years old). the staff is always attentive and nice, they are very accomodating to your needs. it is a bit pricey but worth the service and food. the bread rolls are to die for, the ribs are delicious and the molten cake is a best seller! i am truly impressed with the lengths they will go to meet your needs. they had an adorable children's dessert tray too, decorated with flowers!
Not as good as the one in Hawaii – I've been to the restaurant in Hawaii and it is far better than the one in San Francisco. They have a dim sum sampler that is overpriced - definitely go somewhere else for dim sum. The food is pricey for what you get - typical fusion.
