Best pie around! – An authentic English pub that caters mainly to the Wall St. clientele. The service was friendly and fast, and the food on both occasions I have been, has been delicious- especially the chicken pie! There are also some really good happy hour specials throughout the week. Definitely worth trying out!
Cozy and Yummy! – I honestly don't know what some of those other reviewers are talking about. I work in the area and frequent this place because the food is always really tasty and the service is consistently good: efficient and friendly but not annoying. Also, the ambience and vibe of this place is one-of-kind- cozy and kitschy, with two floors and a library-esque theme on the top floor with a fireplace. Try the burgers or the chicken curry, and the Shepard's Pie is great! It gets really busy but not uncomfortable.
NOT WORTH VISITING – The place looks nice but the service was average the food came out cold and we waited 50 minutes for it.They have some drink specials but in general the prices are high. This was the third time I was there and I WON'T BE COMING BACK...Three strikes and your out
WORST BAR EXPERIENCE IN A LONG TIME – CAME HERE WITH SOME CLIENTS AND FELT LIKE I WAS RIPPED OFF FOOD WAS LOUSY SERVICE EVEN WORSE!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS IT IS VERY CLEAN BUT THE PLACE IS OVERPRICED AND LACKS ANY KIND OF AMBIENCE MY OUT OF TOWN CLIENTS HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!
TOO EXSPENSIVE CRAPPY SERVICE – I CAME HERE ON A WEDSDAY AND IT WAS EXSPENSIVE AND NO WOMEN AT LADIES NITE SERVICE SUCKED I FELT LIKE A TOURIST IN A TOWN WHERE I GREW UP
Blind Putt Putt – I had my first blind date last night (also 1st date ever) at a little oasis near Wall Street called the Pound & Pence. Spectacular layout and ambience... it didn't remind me of TGI Friday's one bit. I knew tell that pulling out all the stops would woo her. Thank you Pound&Pence. You're like the sweetcorn hidden in the middle of a bunch of fuel crop. One hiccup though...citysearch states there is a putting green on the premises. I centered the entire night's activities around minature golf and, alas, no putt-putt to be found. Needless to say, this sent me into a panic because I was banking on using the putts as a social crutch, concentrating on my stroke during possible lulls in conversation. I actually had to wing it the entire night and be myself. It paid off in the end...a group of strangers later recognized my first date skills and cheered me on. Kinda awkward...we were eating dinner at the time.
The Perfect Atmosphere – What can I say: Beautiful place, prompt service, great food & Hot Staff Members... This is the place to be if you work or live around the financial district. If you're planning your holiday party check this place out. Several options to choose from and great space. In top of everything, they deliver and can cater to your office party. Oh, by the way, check this place out Tuesday night where everyone gets to dress up as Bond Girls, HOT, HOT ,HOT....
Real English Pub Downtown – Pound & Pence has a great atmosphere and is a good place to go for lunch break during the day. The ambiance changes during the dinner hours and becomes slightly more formal and romantic. However, still a great place to go for a few drinks with friends after work. Very cozy, nice fireplace, big comfy chairs.
Nice English Pub – Awsome place for lunch and dinner the food is delicious , nice atmosphere and excellent service. This place at dinner time is very romantic especially if you are seated by the fire place. Love the French onion soup...
wall street on the DL – Cool hang in lower Manhattan. A lot of wall street types which may or may not be your thing, but great British beers on tap and the best Chicken Tikka Masala I've had in New York. They also have big cozy leather massage chairs!
