Better than expected – Never up to any Indonesian food b4, I didn?t want to be too adventurous. I decided to check this out with my Indonesian friend, who has been recommending this to me for quite a long time.
It?s even better than expected! Since i am from Japan, i was surprised to see that they have a Tatami room! Food tastes a bit similar to Thai but not as strong or creamy, also reasonably priced. It?s really too hard to find any room for dessert after dinner.
will come again and again! – This is my third visit in a month to this special restaurant. I fell in love with their deep fried oxtail and their spicy bbq fish. You should also try their fried dutch roll, to die for! The taste of their dishes are really refreshing to my jaded tongue. I came on a weekday night on my last visit and it was my best experience so far! Our waiter has more time to share about their cuisine a little more. If possible, i recommend going there on weekdays as their weekends can get really busy.
Nice for something different – Being Dutch, I love Indonesian (the countries have a long history) so we had to give this place a shot. The food is delicious. I especially like the KRUP PUK on the side menu. I also recommend another item on the side menu - it's a hard boiled egg in a spicy tomato sauce - but I forget what it's called. The sambal is outstanding but very hot! The atmosphere was nice and pretty standard but I guess I was expecting something fancier or more romantic based on the other reviews. The service was fine and also pretty standard. All in all it was a good experience and a fun place to try something new!
Authentic and Fabulous Indonesian Food!! – We don't get down to Seattle that much, but when we do we don't just eat here, but also get lots of extra dishes to go. This place is the real deal - best Indonesian food I've had in a long time and it doesn't break the bank, either. The people there are all super friendly, too, you'll feel right at home.
A Must have Experience – We were in a mood for experimenting with some exotic food in North Seattle and it seemed to fit the bill. It was definitely the reviews that enticed us, although we breathed a sigh of relief when we saw it filled with their locals, even at 3 pm.
My spouse and I ordered AYAM GORENG BELADO, which was a Fried chicken simmered in a very spicy sauce (Equivalent to 7 stars). Within seconds my eyes and nose were watering but I couldn?t let that go. This was most definitely the Spiciest but the Yummiest Chicken dish I ever had. ?and believe me, I have had a good share of them. We also loved their IKAN BAKAR PEDAS MANADO which is a Manadonese Spicy BBQ Fish. Usually I am a little apprehensive about ordering a whole fish but it was very tasty, although less spicy that the Chicken dish.
Also ordered SATE AYAM, which was BBQ Chicken on a stick but it was not as interesting and covered with peanut and sweet Soy. I would prefer the Thai Satay to it, any day. For Dessert we ordered fried banana which was another novel experience for us. Delicious!!!
The staff is very nice and courteous. When they heard that it was our first time, they were quick to offer suggestions. But keep in mind that it?s Good food although not necessarily a fast one. The waitress forgot to get our appetizer but to their credit, it was adjusted complimentary in the bill.
Initially I expected the food to taste like Thai or Chinese but was pleasantly surprised to realize that it was none.
Overall I loved this unique experience. It?s seldom while experiencing a new cuisine for all items ordered to be good but this was AMAZING. I am sure this is going to be one of my favorite places.
Try something different – One of my new favorites- I go out about every night and I often get tired of the same old Asian, Indian, etc. ? Indo Cafe offers some unique spices and flavors that you cannot find anywhere else in this area. They have great service and a good menu- I went with some Indonesian friends and they claimed it is authentic as you can get at a restaurant here.
Indonesian is my new favorite! – A friend took me here for my birthday last Sunday. I am not the most adventurous person when trying out new food but i am pleasantly surprised by this little restaurant in the corner of a Northgate strip mall. The waiter is knowledgable and gave us a short intro to the Indonesian cuisine. He guided us to some of their specialties and customers' favorites. Their sticky rice thingy is rich and flavorful! I also enjoyed the spicy fish and the fried yellow rice. We even got a free dessert since it was my bday. How cool is that! This is becoming my new favorite dining spot!
Delicioussss – The food served here are just like what i had in Indonesia.....maybe better considering they have fresher and better ingredients. We'll come here again.
Inexpensive Indonesian fare spices up Northgate with hot sambal, satays and exotic nuts and vegetables. – In Short
The tatami rooms in back are left from a previous Japanese incarnation, but the feel of this small restaurant is entirely Indonesian. The main room is graced with wall hangings, the photo-heavy menu is full of exotic dishes and the Indonesian servers espouse their love for durian and other non-Western flavors. House-made sambal and items like leper ayam--spiced chicken wrapped in sticky rice and banana leaf--and the rice dish nasi goreng are standard fare.
Best BBQ fish! – This place is getting busier and busier! Their BBQ fish dish is a "must-try"! Spicy yet flavorful! Just make sure you order lots of rice! :) Wash it all up with a bottle of Tiger beer and you got yourself a great dinner!
