HORRIBLE FACIALIST – Want to give 0 star if I had a choice. Waited 15 mins. Facialist(never said her name, had british accent) took me w/o apolozy for the delay, got annooyed when I asked to use bathroom, rushed me while I was getting undressed then did THE MOST PAINFUL extractions ever. I am an experienced spa goer & been to 20+ different spas & know what extractions feel like. She pushed my nose so hard, I swear my nose was about to break & now I have a dent in my nose weeks after facial. She put 1 mask, then put 1 lotion on & said I'm done. I signed up for spa wk 60min deep pore facial & looked at my watch to realize this was over in less than 45 mins. As I'm paying, facialist changed her tune, excessively nice to me & fawning all over me for what? for tips now afte this horrendous service. I felt like I was conned by this woman & never had this type (don't even know how to describe) of spa experience. So traumatized that I can't even be near that spa.

Fantastic Facial! – I recently went to this cute little place right in SoHo to cash in my gift certificate I got from my husband. “Red and White Spa” is the size of really trendy boutique. The rooms are bit small, but it felt very private and cozy. The facial I had was fantastic! It was so relaxing that it felt I took a nap. I must admit that my face did feel much cleaner and most of my blackheads had been removed because of the extraction. The woman recommended that I repeat the treatment again in three weeks to clean up my pores even more, so I would have cleaner and even better looking skin. So, I am coming back again.

Something worth mentioning... – It is something that I don't usually write about but this special treatment is definitely an exception to the rule. The Brazilian bikini wax here was one of the best I have ever had. It was quick and efficient. The woman who did my wax was nice and made me comfortable throughout the whole thing. The one thing that I paid attention to was that they do not double dip.

Cons : They don't put gratuities on the credit card, so carry cash.

Pros: Nice, clean and efficient.

Made me feel like a true DIVA – I purchased the “Spa Diva” package for $189. It was amazing. The Citrus Manicure was fantastic, it left my hands feeling soft, clean, and refreshed. I adored the lemony sent it left behind on my hands. The best part was the Swedish/Stones combo treatment, the warm stones, followed by the feet softening wrap left my body in a calm, rejuvenated, and serene state. The European facial left my face feeling super clean and fresh. I especially noticed an improvement in the appearance of my pores, they definitely looked diminished… I LOVE that!! I will definitely be coming back again!!

Spa Go-er Beware – I went to the Red & White Spa for a deep poor cleansing facial. I wanted to try somewhere new and had read some good reviews about the place. It cost $120 and was supposed to last about 70 mins. What a horrible experience! I will never return there.

First of all the woman giving the facial never introduced herself (so I can't tell you her name). The facial felt very rushed and was also very unpleasant, because she was rough during the extraction portion. When it was over, my face was sore and bright red. I looked at the time and realized it felt rushed because it was rushed. The treatment lasted only 45 mins.

I love this spa - best waxing, facials and massages – I have been a client at R&W Spa for almost 4 years, and have used their brazillian waxing and full arm waxing on a regular basis (brazil = every month, arms = every other) and have had nothing but a sweet, pleasant, getting-it-done experience. I have really loved getting facials and saw visible improvement in my complexion (they even do extractions) and their spa week specials are actually a really really good deal. The masseuses know what they are doing, and are good about working on particular areas that I am really tense in, like my shoulders and legs (from running).

I have been repeatedly waxed at this establishment for years, and have never once had a negative experience.

I refer all of my friends and colleagues to this spa also, and will keep going here until I move away from the city.

Save yourself! – I was hoping to leave the spa with a nicely groomed....well "ya know". But instead I was subjected to the harshest, most painful brazilian was ever! At the time I literally said, "This is the worst", but not until I got home did I realize that my "ya know" look like the land of a war-torn nation (patches of unsightly hair everywhere), in addition, I was red, swollen and burned in some areas! SAVE YOURSELF, the pain, low-grade service and your hard earned cash....GO ELSEWHERE!

slow and messy Brazilian – It’s a cute little spa but the Brazilian I got there recently was below average. The woman who did the Brazilian was very slow and pulled the strips too gently and slowly. It took her at least 30 min to do the job, and she still left strands of hair and even a couple small bruises. Also, it seemed that the wax wasn’t warm enough because it was too sticky and didn’t spread well; as a result the irritation was worse than usual. After the procedure, she put way too much oil and lotion on me; I also got an oily stain on my t-shirt and wax residue on my legs although she didn’t wax them. I know places where they do a much better and cleaner job in half the time and about the same price.

Great Services: Check, Great Atmosphere: Not Quite So Much – I actually went w/ a friend back in 8/2008. I booked a mani & facial & my friend booked a pedi. All were great services. My friend was very happy w/ the pedi & I was very happy w/ the mani. The same woman did the mani/pedi. She was super friendly and I liked that she wasn't very chatty but knew when to make conversation. The facial was great - I had never had one before (or since so I can't accurately compare their services to say - another spa facial I've had) There are 2 cons about the facial. 1: The room is super tiny 2: The facial room is up front. Literally the wall in the waiting area is the bordering wall of the facial room. I could hear everything going on at the front desk, everything being said in the waiting area, and everytime the phone rang so it didn't make for the most relaxing experience. If you don't care about the relaxing part of the spa experience I would recommend this spa for a facial any day (but even if the relaxation thing is a deal breaker I would still recommend mani/pedi's bc those stations are at the back - so it's quiet and relaxing)

One other con: The woman doing my facial convinced me to do another facial more suited to my skin type. In fact she basically told me that she was going to do it and didn't ask permission. Surprise, surprise it equaled out to more money. Even though this didn't make me happy and I can't be sure the different facial wasn't a con to get more money, I DID notice a visible improvement in my skin for the next few weeks. Bottom line if I need something done I'd go back, but if I'm trying to make it a relaxing girl's day I think I'd look elsewhere. I gave Red&White 4 stars though because I did enjoy the quality of their work.

Hope this helps someone!

P.S. - The most recent review mentioned snacks/wine/tea. I never saw this and was never offered anything when I came in; but maybe they started offering it after I'd already gone since it was a few months ago.

Dear 5378501,

Thank you for being ownest and objective about your experience at Red & White Spa.

I am very happy that you and your friend were satisfied with the quality of the cervices. It is our first priority.

And I apologize for our noisy atmosphere. This is our first issue we are trying to work on.

Also, your esthetician should get your permission before exchanging your skin care treatment. It's for sure. I apologize she did not. I'll make sure it won't happen again. But I am happy that she was confident in what she was doing and exchanged your facial for the correct one.

Also we have all snacks and wine and tea in the waiting area. There is a bar filled with everything. It is always available to the clients. I hope you are going to enjoy it next time you're visiting us.

Good Deals and Good Services – They run monthly specials. What is great! It is better, that special priced services don't have quality difference from the regular ones. I like the Deep pore facial. They do give absolutely proper extractions. Helen and Dominique are my favorite aestheticians. Thank you, guys.
