Will never book a spa party here-much less come here again! – My husband & I came here a few times which were great so I went ahead & booked "the day before my wedding party" here w/5 friends. We had a very mixed experience. Manis & pedis were fine but due to a holiday parade in the Loop, some of us were late & spa front desk was not accomodating to our party because another party was coming in soon. One of my bridesmaids had to have her appts cut short because it was either her or me. I understand rules are rules but I brought in a lot of business that day & the staff would not offer a reasonable resolution or compromise to the issue in order to please me or their new clients. I will never book a party here or come in for an individual service because I can take my business elsewhere. It's a shame because some of the staff members were courteous & skillful. Also I found the extra "spa party fee/charge" per person a little absurd at first (and as the host, I covered this charge for my friends because it would have been rude to let them pay this themselves) but also understand why some spas require this. However, after this experience, this extra cost felt like a burn to our party. Also, some of my friends were offered services during the pedis but not informed that these services were extra so their bills were more expensive than they expected. The staff should mention every time to the client if a service is additional or not. Before this spa party, I would have rated this spa a 9.
Wide variety of services and professional staff! – I went to Kaya because I received a coupon in the mail for 15% off your first service and was pretty impressed. Kaya has a very detailed website that explains the services very extensively so I barely even had any questions when I was booking. The receptionist I spoke to was very friendly and helpful and I was able to get in when I wanted to. I had a wax, a body treatment, and massage and all services were consistently wonderful. I will definitely return.
Go here if you are having a Spa Party!!!! – I have been to spa parties far and wide due to being in quite a few bridal parties in the last year and a half. This particular Spa Party I was in charge of booking and found Kaya on the internet written up as a great spa to go to for groups. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The entire party was pleased with the atmosphere and their services, not to mention the receptionists were at our beckon call for beverages (mimosas!) and anything else for that matter. We brought food and they were prepared to set up in advance. I went through the Spa Director/Manager to book the party and she was very thorough and organized, she was chasing me as opposed to the other way around to get everything scheduled. She was also there the day of our party to oversee that things were going smoothly. I cannot believe how well it all went. Gotta give praise where praise is due!
Excellent all around! – My sister recommended Kaya to me since she lives in the West Loop neighborhood (she happens to be a regular there), and my, what a hidden treasure this place is. The front desk is fantastic to start off with, and I was transported to the locker toom where they had me change into a cozy robe and slippers and then led me to complete relaxation in the "quiet room". Had a moment to meditate and then was picked up by my lovely massage therapist who was thorough, knowledgeable, and took some time to help me understand what my problems were. If you need to relax and chill out, Kaya is the perfect place to do it. Thanks to my sister, I am definitely going back!
Truly Awful – Problems occurred just walking in the door. I had a friend recommend Kaya and decided to try it out. The receptionist was overtly sweet until I asked about pricing upon which there was a brief condecending converstation about coming into a spa if I was concerned about spending money. I have more than enough money to spend, I just dont like wasting it on incompetance. Unfortunately I did not follow my gut instinct and ended up recieving poor quality treatment...from my horrible massage (I am still sore...and not in a good way)...to a manicure that felt like I was being tortured and it looked like I did it myself. I do not recommend this Spa at all. There are so many better options in the City...
A Wonderful and Euphoric Atmosphere – I was searching for a Spa that offered various Skincare Treatment Services, and I happened to find Kaya's.
I was pleasantly surprise by the Professionalism and Courtesy the Staff displayed upon me, from my Arrival to Departure from their establishment.
My Esthetician: Jamie Rowland was wonderful. She was quite knowledgeable in her craft, and I came away with information that I found to be very useful in maintaining my Skin Regiment, including purchasing several Skincare Products (Sonya Dakar), that I use daily.
I found Kaya Spa to be a great experience. I have even told my Collegues and Friends. I make it a point to get there every Three-Weeks for my Treatments; If I don't, I feel that I'm now missing something... The Experience.
Loved It! – W Hotel concierge referred me to Kaya and even made my appointment for me. As soon as I enterd the door I felt at peace. Everyone was lovely and the services were superb! I even ended up just hanging out for a while after my services just sipping tea, playing on the internet and catching up on my magazine reading! I just didn't want to leave, and no one made me feel rushed to get out. Next time I am back in Chicago I will set a day aside just for Kaya Day Spa, my new friend!
GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. – I got a gift certificate for a massage, mani, pedi- couldn't book them together so had to go separate days. Massage was generic- I've had much better people in tune with my muscle tension. Pedi was cut short about 10 minutes (should have been an hour). Manicure quality was subpar- uneven application and the manicurist missed the sides of my nails completely. It's only a been a few days and it already looks bad. The worst part was that they said I owed them money because they had change prices since the certificate was purchased. A spa should cater to the clients- it's a service industry, not a retail department store. Poor form to demand money on a itemized gift certificate. I also wanted to apply credit I had towards a gift certificate for someone else. The receptionist became snotty and condescending when she didn't understand the simple transaction I was trying to make. I left not at all feeling relaxed and indulged. Definitely better service and quality elsewhere.
Sooo relaxed.... – This place is amazing. I have been looking for a place like this for so long. A front desk staff that actually makes me feel welcome and does not rush me to leave/a knowledgeable service provider/a truly relaxed environment, zero pretentiousness....I am so impressed. I am definitely returning. If you are looking for an incredibly relaxing and quality experience, look no further, go to Kaya.
wonderful spa! – love this place! the pedicures are amazing and the atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful. the staff is friendly and always ready to help!
