Each dish at Chai Yo, from the Tom Yum Noodles Soup to the Thai egg rolls, exhibits an unparalleled dedication to fresh ingredients with a simple, yet bold taste. Take note, however, that the mild-medium-hot options are skewed toward heat and order one heat level lower than normal.
Excellent Food, superior attention to detail. – Oh how I love chai yo. I no longer live nearby and can't go 3x a week like I used to but when I can, it's always worth the drive. This is no sloppy stir fry joint. Everything is well prepared and first rate. Sauces are complex and well reduced, meats are well prepared and fresh. I have never ordered anything I didn't enjoy here, but many things that were exceptional. Speaking of exceptional, I have been consistently impressed with the attentive and pleasant service here. After a few visits the servers even remembered how hot I like my food and what I like to drink. I really love this place. Try the Pad Prik Khing, with chicken-- medium. I think you'll like it!
Best Green Curry Ever! – My husband and I went there for lunch. It's a very quiet and cute house. I am a green curry expert as that is the only Thai dish I eat and I this place has the best green curry in town! My husband had the red curry duck and that was just as yummy. Food came out fast and the service was great!
Delicious, Quality Cuisine and Attentive Service – I have been to Chai Yo three times now, and plan to make this a favorite dinner spot. The wait staff is polite and attentive, and the food comes out incredibly fast. My last time there, I even asked if they could rush order, since I was seeing a movie in an hour. Our food came out ten minutes later, piping hot and delicious! What makes this so surprising is that the ingredients are obviously very fresh, and not just defrosted and slapped together.
The ambience of this restaurant is unique and fun. There are about ten tables set up in two different rooms of an old house. The creaky wood floors, quiet music, and knick nacks all create a charming atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this place for a date or to catch up with a few friends. The green curry and crab cakes are especially divine.
The best place in Portland – There are few restaurants in life that you will remember and crave for the rest of your days on earth. This is one of those restaurants. I have tried most of the items on the menu and have my favorites but everything is good. And when I say good I mean you will start to eat here at least once a month after you try it.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Casual restaurant on the Broadway strip serves Thai authentic fare and affordable lunch specials.
Best Thai on Broadway – My wife and I eat out ALOT and we work close to the Broadway strip, so we have eaten at almost all of the Thai resaurants along Broadway. Chai Yo was certainly the best Thai food we've had in a long time. Very nice inside, great service and absolutely wonderful food!
