All the bad reviews are spot on! Avoid this place. – This is the first time I've ever written a review for a restaurant, which tells you a lot about how bad this place really is. Long story short, in addition to the same sorts of things that people here have already said about the bad service and sub par food, at some point in the evening the general manager pulls me aside and tells me he won't be serving drinks to one of my friends anymore. I tried really hard to have a civil conversation with this man, but every time I opened my mouth he cut me off. All I wanted to do was understand what my friend had done to make him say this. My friend was not acting unusual, loud, rude, what have you. We all had a few drinks (after all, that's why we were there, right?) but no one was acting like a drunken fool. I didn't raise my voice or lash back at the manager. I honestly was just seeking to understand what we had done wrong and hopefully settle the matter in a calm way. But apparently the spineless manager didn't want to have to justify himself, so he cut me off at every attempt I made to speak, and when that wasn't working he then said that our entire group was cut off and we should leave. Which of course we did, though I was shocked. He we were, a group of working professionals, responsible individuals, having a few drinks and enjoying a few laughs, and we get kicked out. The place was practically dead. We weren't imposing on anyone else. It just didn't make sense. I will never set foot in this establishment again and I will be telling all my friends to do the same.
Ruined my first anniversary – My husband and I decided to celebrate our first anniversary at Ibiza and we had made reservations a week and a half in advance. Unfortunately, the restaurant failed to tell us that the dining room would be closed off for some VIP's birthday, even when we called the restaurant the day of to confirm. This was at a normal dinner time, Tuesday at 7pm, yet we were told when we arrived that we would have to be seated in the lounge and could only order off the tapas menu, as "all of the chefs were dedicated to the birthday for the night". I was extremely disappointed and irritated that no one had called us, as we had left our phone number and also let them know it was for our anniversary. We just got a quick apology and were seated on a couch in the lounge. The tapas were expensive (around $10-12) and were very very small. The only thing I found good was the crab salad. Other than that, it was far too overpriced for the taste and size. Food was barely warm. Our server was not attentive and the restaurant was pretty empty except for the group. After ordering $150 worth of food and drinks, we were still hungry and decided to leave before we wasted anymore money. The restaurant has amazing decor, but was disappointing as the staff didn't want to lose business by letting people know of these changes beforehand. I regret trying to "make the best of things" by staying and trying out the restaurant...we should have just left and saved ourselves the money. Nothing was compensated and my letter to the management has not been answered.
Different Restaurant – I work at the Smith Tower and I have been frequenting Ibiza for the past few months, mainly for happy hour. They have great drink specials, friendly bartenders, and their tasty small plates can't be beat for 3.95. Recently, the bartenders have been mentioning some changes happening to the menu, and everyone who mentioned it seemed to be very excited about the changes. So Tuesday, I decided to skip my usual two plate happy hour routine, and come in a bit later for dinner. I read the last review and I was a bit skeptical, but the staff was very confident, so I decided to give it a try. I came in by myself, so I ate at the bar, but I felt that I received equal if not better service that in the dining room. My bartender, a pleasant young blond who's name unfortunately escapes me, was as professional as most fine dining servers downtown. I ordered the veal dish which came wrapped with serrano ham and goat cheese, with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It was a simple yet delicious dish. The veal was tender and the ham and cheese perfect together. I truley enjoyed my experience and I look forward to coming in with friends and sitting in their beautiful dining room. I hope that people aren't dissuaded by the previous review. I feel I ate at a different restaurant than the previous reviewer. As a frequent customer, Ibiza seems to be making some changes, and they all seem to be for the better. The menu seems more ambitious, but if my dish was any indication, they are executing quite well. I hope they continue to move in a positive direction. It helps to have a great place for food and drinks at the doorstep of your job.
What a DISAPPOINTMENT – I was really excited to check out Ibiza since the pictures of the decor looked so pretty and inviting. I should have read the reviews first. What a disappointment this place was. The food was flavorless and cold. My husband and I both got the "Deconstructed Paella" that tasted gross, the seafood was cold, and it took a long time for the food to come out of the kitchen. My mom ordered the eggplant tower thing, that she seemed to like okay. The drinks were alright. The service was very fake and not personable. We had two servers, since one was in training- and even with two of them the service sucked. Non attentive, even there wasn't anyone in the whole place. They are trying too hard to be a "fine dining" restaraunt, but they are totally not fine dining! The food sucked. i was so dissapointed! I will not be back to eat here. The lounge area looked cool with all the couches and I could picture having an okay time here just for drinks. There was hardly anyone in the whole place though, we saw three tables fill up over the 3 hours we were there. the food is overly priced for what it is. We love to go out to eat and don't mind spending a lot on good food, but this place was SO NOT WORTH IT. You know its a bad sign when you feel like you just wasted $150.00 on bad food! BOO! This place is no good. The owner was there trying to drum up conversation with the diners, but all around seemed snooty and slimey.
Great Decor – It is absolutely lovely inside! Nice place to meet up with friends for cocktails. The sitting area near the door is a tad chilly (since it's directly by the door). And the hostess will stand directly outside the door and smoke. You'll get a nice wiff of cigarettes here and there because of it. Besides that...it's a must to check out.
We needed a restaurant like this! It's all about the ambience – I have not one bad thing to say about this establishment. We so enjoyed our night out here.
The ambience and decor were spectacular. Very posh, great lighting and actually very comfortable. When you walk in, there is a bed and couches everywhere in the lounge. The big room is divided by floor to ceiling mesh shades and fine chain-mal. I forgot to mention the celings are 19 feet high!
For dinner, we sat in a booth that was semi-circular.This booth was the most comfortable I've ever been in; very cushy bottom and well angled curved high back.. It was set up well for viewing the restaurant.
The service was excellent. I especially like the little courtesies of the bus boys. You will notice it when you go in.The food was phenomenal and the seafood the freshest I've had in a restaurant. The Chilean Sea Bass is not be missed! I would have liked to have seen more items on their tapas list, as it was shorter than the entree list.
The bar was very cool looking and definitely the place to hang out. They could have used more space around it, as that's where people congregated and it was a little hard to get through later, but I've seen clubs way more packed. It was also time-consuming trying to close out our tabs around midnight as they were quite busy.
We enjoyed the DJ and the "fashion show" they had that night (which I hear they do from time to time) and definitely plan on coming back.
For dinner, I consider this a great date place as well as a great place for a group of people.
For cocktails, I thought this seemed like a great place to view some good looking people. Their drink selection was quite good and I was excited to see Moet & Chandon by the glass as well as some other good French wines.
They do have valet service for a charge on the weekends, but we were actually able to get a spot right out front, getting there at 9 on a Saturday night. (1 block up from the square, so I would think parking wouldn't be too bad?)
Hip atomosphere – Very good food and drinks. Friday night for dinner was not that busy, but that was a good thing because it kept it a bit more romantic.
Place to be see and be seen – This is *the place* for a girl's night out. It fit the bill of what we were looking for: ambience, classy but not stuffy, great mixed drinks, and an intimate place with some cool music in the background. They had sheer curtains and they even had a bed in the lounge area - how cool is that??! Anyways, I really liked the way the white booths were set up - great for a group of 4 and the overall decor/ambience, quite chic and trendy. The food was pretty good. The black fettucini with prawns - beware, it is a bit spicy which was not noted on the menu description and I was not *wowed* by the lamb lollipops but the drinks were delish! Definitely a fun place to chat and lounge with drink afterwards.
The Most Disgusting Dining Experience! – It took at least an hour to get our food, but the restaurant was NOT busy. When my pasta finally arrived, it was clumped together and cold. I could barely look at it! The shrimp in the pasta was totally off. The salmon was like a salt bomb. My friend's chicken was raw and bloody. The staff was apologetic and seemed equally disgusted. The experience was so obviously horrible, all the meals and drinks were complimentary. The only thing this place has in its favor is a lovely dining room. The pretty room, however, doesn't make up for the terrible food!
good food, if you're with a smaller group – I went to Ibiza a few months ago with a larger group (about 12 of us). We had made reservations, but for some reason it didn't seem that they were prepared for us. However, they took care of the problem quickly so it turned out ok. When are food arrived, that's when the trouble started. A few of the dishes were cold and we had to ask for refills on drinks several times. They were quick to remedy that situation too, but it still shouldn't have happened to begin with. The food, despite the few mistakes was fabulous. I had the pistachio-encrusted lamb lollipops which were to die for. I will most likely return, but definitely with a smaller group.
