Not bad – There's only 8 theaters, but it's cheaper than any other theater. Adult price is $8: it cost $12 for an adult ticket where I'm from, plus there's a student discount. Concessions are overpriced just like every other theater. The people who work at the theater are really friendly, for the most part. The people who go to the theater are a different story: this theater has a lot of rude, whiny customers! I overheard a customer asking one of the girls behind the bar if she's washed her hands in the past week, I thought she was going to cry. (Her hands looked as clean as the old guy who'd said that to her.) There's no 3D :( but they were just bought by a different company, so hopefully they fix this place up because it's old and falling apart. The theaters are small, but not as bad as duff80 says, and they've fixed the "paper-thin" walls: you can't hear spoken dialogue from a neighboring theater. It's definitely not a Warren Theater, but it's a decent small town theater.
Unconsiderate of all there customers – Went to go see a paranormal activity only to find out that they had canceled the show to show 2012 due to popular demand. However, in the time that I was there I saw numerous people come to purchase tickets for paranormal activity only to be turned away. On top of this there was supposed to be another showing at 10 however they would not know for sure if they were actually going to show it until later (if the demand for 2012 kept up). When I voiced my concerns I was apologized to but it was not sincere. I was also told that they make this decision at the last possible moment. However in my opinion this decision should be made with some advanced warning so that their customers can rearrange their plans. i do not recommend this theater it is worth the drive and the extra cost of the movie to see it in Joplin. Maybe then this theater will realize that they should be considerate of their customers.
Save your money – This theater has to be among the worst values around.
There are only 8 screens, but there used to be 6. This means small screens, narrow theaters, and paper-thin walls that are bound to destroy any movie without loud, non-stop rampage. The walls are so thin you can actually understand the spoken dialogue from the adjacent theaters during parts of your movie! That's not the kind of 2-for-1 value that most movie-goers appreciate.
Their movie selection leaves a lot to be desired; don't expect even popular Indie films to appear here?or even studio films without blockbuster potential.
Fortunately, they do offer a student discount for the large college population, but I would recommend that even college students make a drive and watch a movie elsewhere, as you'll enjoy the experience much more at a different theater. Better yet, save your money, and go watch the same movie a few months later at Joplin's discount theater for 1/5 of the price and comparable theater quality.
For those who do decide to brave this theater, remember: the mall has very limited shopping options, so don't show up too early.
