This Cheese Smells... – Before going to most restaurants that are over the range of fast food money, I usually check their reviews. And i must say 94 stewart had award winning raves, with their wine menu and many advertised statements of being a family ran and owned restaurant, that I'm sure every restaurant would love to be labeled as. The first time dining their I was semi-fascinated about what lurked beyond the burgendy and gold curtains, to the dimly lit dining room. But when entering, the one thing that confused me the most had to be the cheaply cut paper coverings with crayons on the table. Now I'm all for entertainment throughout dinner, but what the hell? Theres a difference between denny's and a supposed fine dining establishment, I'm an adult or was the place attracting strictly children... again the confusion. The servers were attentive enough, I drowned in water, and the pacing back and forward with the hostess was a little bit too distracting for me. I wanted to tell him to sit down somewhere and let the servers serve... OH the food was okay, over priced for its portions are true, i read it in a review but experiencing it in real life cements the fact. I'm paying alot, i mean can i get some seconds maybe? lol... being that it looked like all the servers were gay... I love gay men mind you... being overly vulgar about it is the difference. I know your gay... it is okay.

A Place With Passion – Ahh Valentine's... or as we in the industry refer to it - Amateur Night.

As one in the biz, this restaurant is such a breath of fresh air. A staff that is honest and always tells you like it is. In my visits to this local favorite I've overheard the servers successfully convincing the guests to just leave the menu as the chef intended it. I only wish I could be that honest at my job and have the backing of a kitchen that puts their all into every dish they put out. Those with a sense of adventure and an understanding of what it takes to be this passionate will love this restaurant as much as the many regulars I see on my far too infrequent visits.

Hmmm... I wonder if they're hiring?

European Escape – Besides the fine food (I had sea scallops and my friend had copper river salmon), the service is excellent.

Our waiter was patient in helping us select the perfect wine to go with our seafood dishes--a pinot noir from New Zealand. We felt transported to another land because of the decor and containment of the space.

The lighting (or lack of) also contributes to the atmosphere. The best thing of all is we were left to dine for over 2 hours with little interruption except a check on needs such as water refill, completion of a course, etc. It is rare in most restaurants I have been to in the USA for such a luxury of time. I had eaten lunch at this restaurant over a year ago and that positive experience motivated me to return for dinner. I was not disappointed.

Condescending Servers – This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. My husband and I love to come to Seattle frequently and stay at the Inn At The Market. We had never tried this restaurant but it?s close proximity to one of our favorite hotels meant we had to give it a try. We had reservations which had been re-confirmed the day before and we arrived 10 minutes early. Even so there was some confusion as to where we would sit and it took several minutes to be shown to our table. When we were seated our server turned the reservation card around to show the next reservation for our table which included the name and time of the next reservation and he drew our attention to it while mentioning how much time we had to order, eat and get out.

While ordering I asked for a different side dish than what came with my meal. Our server commented that I really didn?t know what flavors went together or I wouldn?t have asked for the change. When one of our table mates asked where the restroom was located she was corrected with a sneer and told that the WASHROOM was located at the back of the restaurant. Our entire meal was a study in how to treat people as though they were ignorant, unsophisticated, and beneath contempt; at one point our servers huffing and puffing became so outrageous that we all began to chuckle.

The food was OK. The fried avocado was bland and greasy, the beef dishes were well cooked and my side dish wasn?t too bad despite our servers warning to the contrary. However, it is hard to appreciate the food when you are being so ill treated. So while we will continue our patronage at the Inn At The Market we will explore other dining options.

I can't express enough, you are a guest in my home when you dine at 94 Stewart. As my guest, I and my staff make every effort to create the perfect experience for each individual. If you do not care for something, please say something at the time. Your communication is critical to our being able to serve you to the best of our ability. My dishes are designed for balance of flavors and textures. Regardless, custom needs are met with a smile. Your concern about a table tag is confusing, since we last used them on Valentine's. Our servers care about your experience and if your unnamed emissary mentioned it, I would suspect it was to prevent an unpleasant end to your meal. I'm very sorry this was taken in a different light.

Fresh with a bohemian ambiance – One of the more interesting hors de ouvres i have had in my travels is the fried avacado and crab. The corn relish mixed with the lime dressing was a delight. As well, the Halibut in champagne sauce was fresh and perfectly cooked. However, the dessert was a disapointment. Im not usually a dessert fan but the plate of tempting treats was just that! Alas i was disapointed in the blackberry slump, the crust was chewy and hard to cut, perhaps due to a microwave zap or just not perfected, but it was the only part of the meal that was not up to par.

Sitting at the bar which overlooks the grill was a treat. the service was friendly and prompt. the location is nice for a decent walk to the market and back up Pikes and i would recommend the place as a romantic spot to take a date. The price is at the highend of the spectrum but the end result was well worth it.

Fantastic! All of it! – We called ahead to ask if they could do something vegan on a busy Saturday and, not only did they make an amazing dinner, they added it to the menu that evening. Fantastic service with a nice humorous edge and appreciated dry wit! Service was not oversolicited in the least nor was our server at all snooty. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Not what I expected – Service was great but food was average at best. Drink choices other than wine were limited and not very good. For the price, I think I would go somewhere else next time.

My Favorite Seattle Restaurant – When in Seattle, I always make a point to visit 94 Stewart. Creative menus, marvelous flavors, truly "family" staff atmosphere. Try the monthly wine dinners for a truly fun and delicious evening. Be prepared for "fun with attitude". Andy and staff have repeatedly salvaged days that weren't so great until I arrived at 94 Stewart.

It was O.K. – My husband and I went to 94 for dinner and unfortunately our experience was very hot and cold. The hostess was almost unfriendly in her greeting. She found our name in the computer and seated us immediately with no warmth, or smile, or really any communication at all. The waiter was almost schizophrenic in his serving. One minute he was smiling and laughing and a beacon of hospitality, but the next visit he seemed almost sullen and had a lot of attitude. The food also seemed to be hot and cold for us. The Romaine & Blue salad was wonderful, but we asked for it to be split and instead of doing that in the kitchen they just brought an extra plate forcing us to reach across the table to split the salad ourselves. Certainly a small inconvenience, but it would have been nice for them to take care of that for us. We had the Foie Gras Terrine and found it to be fairly flavorless. I was disappointed since I normally enjoy foie gras, although maybe the style of preparation and my lack of understanding it was to blame. I had the Oregon Rabbit which was amazing! The texture, the flavor, every aspect was right on the mark. My husband had the Roast Pork Loin which was tepid at best. The flavor was good, but it just wasn't hot enough, and it seemed a bit dry. Maybe the plate sat for a while before being delivered. I don't think I will visit 94 Stewart again since there are so many good restaurants in the area that have truly impressed from the first visit on.

What deli do you eat at? – Of the 20 items on the lunch menu I only see four of them as sandwiches? Why don't you order something else? And what deli are you going to that offers anything even close in quality and freshness to the few this restaurant is offering this month? Yes you can get chemical filled, weeks old, coleslaw at KFC, but with the option for fresh hand made coleslaw, I'll choose it every time (what is that lovely sauce they make it with). The few times I'll had the fortune to be able to dine with the family at 94 I have always felt the chef was open to question and my opinions. I know she changes the lunch menu all most every month and if there was something different I had in mind I'm sure she would put great thought into it. I guess I'm more of the old school of thought; if I have a complaint I let them know in person and not wait to complain where little to nothing can be said or done about it. I guess some people are just happier complaining all the time. Appears to be a common problem in this information age. I'm happy there are still restaurants in this big city that still believe in the small town ideals. I'll keep 94 at the top of my list and continue to enjoy whatever the chef feels like creating that day, because I will always know I get not just the best fresh ingredients, but I know she is giving it her all every time. If there is ever anything I do not like, don't worry I won't be a coward, I will let her know face to face as any person should do.
