Worst in Austin!! – 1 star is probably to much to give but it was the lowest rating available!

I am in sales and usually love to tell new people in Austin where the hot spots are. In this case I'm letting you know where the worst is - to save you the suffering. I was overcharged more than $100 on my corporate card. When I questioned the manager I was told it would be corrected - it wasn't and I was told to leave and not come back. I will be letting everyone I know NOT to go here.

Bad service, bad attitudes – It takes over 10 minutes to get a couple of beers and they staff is standing around chatting. I came here for inexpensive drinks, but should have know that it would come with inadequate service. I had previously heard good things about this place, but my experience just was not good.

Fun local spot! – This is the second Shelocks I have become a regular to(Dallas) and the 3rd location I have visited. For a chain, it is consistantly popular and a great place to come as you are for drinks, music, or pool. They have a wonderful beverage selection, my favorite is the Woodchuck Amber! Yummy!

The food is bar food done well and presentation is nice. There are cozy places too and lots of people, always!

The only thing I suggest is bring cash....they often pre-authorize your tabs for more then you paid and this can get a little annoying if you are on a budget.

Worst experience I had in Austin for the past 22 years!

Not recommended for anyone looking for a nice scotch and good service.

Service was extremely slow and erratic. Bar tenders did not know what single malt scotch they had and did not care to find out.

Cops all over the place and rude employees. I had a very bad experience even after spending lots of money there.

There are lots of other places in Austin that I would recommend over this one.

The Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced – I went to Sherlock's for happy hour, and left there a very unhappy customer. When my waitress brought me my tab, she had charged my tab onto someone else's credit card. When I brought this to her attention she was extremely flippant and dismissive. She said she had given my card to someone else and that it was gone. While, the manager attempted to smooth things over but voiding the charge for the other people's drinks and not charging me, the end product was that my card that I had entrusted to Sherlock's was given away to someone else, and I have now had to go through the huge inconvenience and hassle associated with canceling a debit card.

While, I understand that mistakes can be made, what determines whether someone is a good waitress, or if a place is a good establishment or a bad establishment is how they handle the situation after the mistake was made. The waitress was not only ridiculously rude, she never apologized! She even interrupted a conversation I was having with a friend about the situation and in a very nasty tone said that she was the one who did it, to which I replied, that yes in fact she was the one who had given my card to another customer and stated that she had yet to apologize. I then asked her if she was going to apologize and she said "NO". I couldn't believe it. At this point I was too flabbergasted to speak so I left the bar while my friends went to go complain to the manager about this latest incident.

Ultimately, there is no excuse for rudeness and that is what I experienced at Sherlock's. A cheap happy hour coupled with decent food, is not worth the horrible service received and having my debit card taken from me.

Nice place for a drink or two – great service, good prices, and nice atmosphere make this a nice place to have a drink, meet others, and hangout...food is pretty good, not great (it's pub food, after all)...

awesome – I loved this place. Heck I down right miss this place. I lived in a crappy apartment up by sherlock's and the only bright side was going to watch the UT games at Sherlock's. I watched the 2005 CWS when Texas won and I fell in love. After that every UT football game I was sitting either infront of the big screen or at the bar. Location is atrocious move to Cedar Park, get away from Lamar lol.

Big Chain Bar? Big Chain Attitude – I don't know why I was surprised, but even though it is a chain bar (something I usually avoid) it seemed to have such promise. It is a pub after all--how franchised could it be?

Too much attitude at the door, turning away casually dressed folk (some in shorts, some in tanks--it was almost 100 degrees outside after all) for being too casual--at a pub?? In Austin?? Bad start. The beer selection was pretty good, and they poured my Guinness properly, but it took FOREVER to get the attention of the server, who was chatting with another staff member while I waited, high and dry. Bad too. The pint, while poured correctly, didn't taste all that great. Second pint of Bass tasted fine. When I ordered some food (jalapeno poppers, skins) and offered a credit card to start a tab, I was asked for my license number! Not a glance at my license, to check my identity (which would have been fine), but the number, so it could be entered along with my Amex number on my tab. Card was given back to me and Bar dude said "all bars are doing this now..." Not any other one I have been in in the past 12 years. Bad three.

Food was passable pub grub, nothing special, and the crowd was passable pub crowd, albeit a bit preppier than I am used to. The place is kind of cavernous, especially the bar to the right if the crowd hasnt migrated over that way yet. I felt like I was early or late for the crowd, at 6pm on a Thursday. Not my idea of a friendly neighborhood pub. Overall impressions: too much attitude, sluggish service, average food, good beer selection with some quality issues and bizzare card policies for me.

Back to local bars owned by local folk without the chain store concept hanging over things and ruining what could have been a nice north Austin bar.
