I 'happened' into Oliver's - by just driving by, calling, asking a few questions, and I walked out a couple hours later with my 'signature look' back !!! The FIRST place I went that evening, I got "Omgosh, I LOVE your hair" after not having had that in about a year...Jessica Clarke is a hair MASTER and I thank the dynamic receptionist for NOT letting me get away !!! (I called from their parking lot) !!!
Linnea cuts my hair at Oliver's Hair Salon and my hair looks amazing! I recommend everyone I know to go to this salon!
I had my hair done here and was charged double what they said it would be. The hair was mediocre and people weren't very nice. I gave the salon a bad review on another site and the owner called me, (a 17 year old girl) and was extremely rude, making personal jabs at me for being incompetent and told me that my hair was ugly orange and I should be thankful. TERRIBLE experience. Take business elsewhere, people!
Loved it! – After a bad experience at a different salon, I called Oliver's at the last minute & asked for the impossible....highlight, cut, massage & nail for 3 people. The person I spoke to was really helpful & she made it happen! The staff was great & I will be back!
Awful, Awful, Awful! – I am fairly new to the Kansas City area and I am on the hunt for a consistent and nice salon. I have a good idea and high expectations of what a good salon and stylist can and should entail. I have driven by Oliver's quite a bit and was always curious to give it a try. I was quite hestitant but made an appointment anyway. The salon seems modern and had quite a bit of positive reviews. MISTAKE! From the moment I walked in, I was not impressed. The salon itself is unsanitary and was very unorganized at the front desk. When my stylist, Molly, met me, she was very quiet and non-professional. It was like pulling teeth to start a conversation. A good stylist should take care of themselves appearance wise and the first impression both the physical and social, was not good to say the least. I was very specific in what I wanted for my color....very specific....even down to the kind of color I wanted. The results were exactly NOT what I explained to her. I started feeling nervous from the first couple of foils and should have listened to my gut feeling. The stylist had little charm, started little to no conversation, and was unprofessional. After the color, she brought me to another side of the salon to do a quick bang trim. She then said "well, thanks for coming!".....wait a minute, my hair is sopping wet! I at least thought the stylist would make me at least presentable before I left the salon. She then informed me that a style was an additional $34! What the hec! I have NEVER experienced this. So, I ended up sucking it up and paid for an additional $34 to at least get my hair blown out. And let's just say, I could have probably done a better job myself. Then, after already being disappointed and quite frankly fed up, I went to the front desk to pay. The stylist had charged me for a FULL foil when I was very specific when making the inital appoitment and during the very brief consultation at the beginning of the appointment that I only wanted a PARTIAL foil. So unprofessional and shady. After a very awkward conversation between the front desk attendant and the stylist, they decided not to charge me for the full foil. Wow, thanks (can you sense my sarcasm?!) Please, please, please DO NOT waste your time and money with this place. I would usually not take the time to write one of these reviews, but if I can help at least one person to avoid this place, it's worth it! Dirty salon, unprofessional and unknowledgeable staff, and overall a very low calibur of a salon.
UNKIND STYLIST & UNFLATTERING HAIR STYLE........... – What started as a great relationship with a Master Stylist turned into a nightmare. After 16mths of growing out my hair I did research prior to my appt for an easier style to maintain.I showed the stylist 4 photos & explained why I liked each one. I think the stylist was upset I was not a simple cut & shampoo but wanted a different style as my months of growing out an overly texturized hairstyle turned in to a style I did not request NOR did or does it even resemble any of the 4 photos I showed him. At no time did he talk to me,he simply cut-cut-cut AND at times,kept me from seeing what & how much hair he was cutting away. I watched other stylists confer with their client yet mine was silent. I also had requested a style with NO CURLING IRON involved as well as NO FLAT BRUSH since I don't own one. YET, as he styled it he used a curling iron AND a flat brush - I looked as if I had an overgrown hairpiece on my hair AND when I left,I had tears. I absolutely hate it AND will not return. I never disrepected the stylist before,always being ON TIME & tipping appropriately yet this time he simply did not do as I requested and has turned me against ever returning to the salon. I am taking my business somewhere else where I am welcomed - to all those who try Olivers, make sure your stylist understands what you are desiring AND watch as your hair is being cut away - I think he in particular simply did not want to work with me & give me the style I wanted.
