Ty is awesome! – Finally stopped in and checked this place out after seeing the guy with the sign on the corner. Ty was really great to work with and there pricing was way better than another eastside gun store...I wont mention names.... I am going to have to check out the Bellevue store, he said it was a new location but its a little closer to me.
DGS is a Straight Rip-off – I bought a gun from them and had to return it and they tried to charge me $100 for a restocking fee when the gun never crossed the counter into my possession. It was well overpriced compared to other local stores. I ended up buying it from Outdoor Emporium for about $80 less with great customer service.
He referred to a sign in the store that said "$50 fee for background checks". I am sure the government doesn't charge them for background checks. You don't get your money back right away either. You have to wait for the owner to cut you a check whenever they feel like it. I had the manager of the store initial my refund receipt and they still shorted me $50 which I just took up with my bank to resolve. I will NEVER EVER step foot in this place again. I even agreed to pay the $50 re-stocking fee of a gun that took over two weeks to transfer from South Center to Lake City. I called them about 5-6 times asking for updates instead of them calling me saying sorry for the delay. Consider yourself warned and the "Discount" in their name is a gimmick. Do yourself a favor and shop around but not in there.
Good store – Always happy to stop by here. I let them know a few months back I was looking for primers and gave them my phone number to call me when some came in. Some arrived, they called and I came and paid for them and picked them up.
Plus, there are always good kids working there. Young, but enthusiastic which is refreshing to see in retail nowadays.
nice clean store, good help – First time into a discount gun sales store and had a good experience, staff was friendly and helpful. I am a beginner and they didnt make me feel stupid because I wasnt an expert. I am very happy with my purchase and I am looking forward to using the free range pass they gave me to try the range in bothell.
good company – I've done several purchesses with dgs and will again.
Excellent customer service and selection. – The negative reviews below have to be bogus. I've been a customer of DGS for years and have referred a number of friends to them and have always had positive experience. What you will find at DGS is an extensive product selection, knowledgeable and friendly sales staff, and fair prices. Check them out.
Frank the Fat Tank – -Price's are lower at Wades, ammo and guns at discount are no discounted.
-Owner is very rude and doesn't care about you as a consumer
-Owner if fat and smells, honestly.... sorry to say.
-No custom support or service.
-If you like rude people go to Discount where your going to spend more than Wades and be dis-respected.
crooks – This is a review for both the Kirkland location and the Seattle location (not currently listed on Citysearch). We asked the Seattle store about a particular rifle over the phone - whether they have it in stock and how much it costs. When we came into the store, it turned out that they didn't have the rifle in stock (looked like they hadn't carried it in a long time), but they immediately offered to order it for us - for a price that was more than 1.5 times the price we were quoted over the phone. We also bought a large box of Bulgarian surplus ammo from this store, and about 10% of the shells were cracked so that you could remove the bullet by simply shaking the cartridge. Such cartridges are dangerous to shoot and the store should not be selling them. They should have checked them first and not put them on sale. Going back to rifles, we were also interested in a different kind of rifle and the Seattle store checked the computer (or pretended to) and said the Kirkland store had it and quoted us a price of $600 (very reasonable for that kind of rifle). We proceeded to drive to Kirkland, spending two hours on the road in rush hour traffic, only to find out that they are actually selling the rifle for $1,200. The prices listed on the tags at both stores only apply if you pay with cash or a debit card; otherwise, they are more expensive but of course they don't tell you until you check out. When checking out, they entered my name into some sort of internal database without asking me first - they only asked me if it was all right after they did it. Also at the Kirkland store, they wanted to sell us a rifle magazine for $100 when this type of magazine sells for $40 max everywhere else. When I told them that it usually costs a lot less, they continued to claim that their price was the norm. One final note: the return policy basically doesn't let you return anything. Do the research and shop around for the items you need before you go - don't let them take advantage of you.
