Not what it once was – I think the Harrington's people used to run the Harp Bar on 32nd, before it was taken out by construction. That was one of my favorite places in the area, but Harrington's just has not picked up the mantle. It was decent enough when it opened, we used to go here a lot, but it has really begun to suffer in recent years. Mediocre food, service, too darn crowded before Garden events.
Terrible Place – My friends and I went to eat here recently, and we never come back again. We ordered food and it never came out. Somone must have forgot the order. So we complained and the owner threw us out. Some guy John, what an a-hole... Dont ever come here
Good bar food, fast service – Reminds me of a Houlians restaurant. Food is good but the ambiance is a sit down fast food family environment. Applebys, Chilis all come to mind.
Great place for dinner, drinks, whatever! – This place is great. The bartenders are great about keeping your drinks full and generally speaking the service is tremendous. The bartenders do a great job and are armed with their Irish wit and charm! The food is consistent and in some cases phemonenal (try the Harrington's Sampler!). There is always a good crowd in there and a great mix-usually some suits and a mixture of pre-gamers for whatever event may be at the Garden that night.
Great place to watch a game! – Went here with some friends to watch a Yankees game. They have 4 large screen tv's at the bar for excellent viewing. They also have a very good draft bar selection(Guinness, Sam, Bass, Hefeweizen, etc.). Pretty good bar menu as well. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd definitely be a regular
Staff is distant – Came here for a Friday happy hour with my girlfriend. I arrived first and even though the bar was only half full had to wait about 10 minutes while the bartenders chatted away with their friends. Then, they came over as if they were doing me a favor by serving me. The design of the place is nice and there is a separate area for eating. Several tv's surround the bar. Prices are okay, $5.00 for Coors Light and there were no happy hour specials. Not really worth a return trip
User review by nycdreamr – I've been here a number of times because it is close to where I work. The food is ok but nothing all that great. The speed of the service varies but the attitude of the staff is rude, more often than not. Recently, they have stopped accepting credit cards for orders of less than $20 because, according to the manager, they are charged $4 to process them (a highly doubtful claim).
Worst place ever don't go!!!! – Ok I don't even know how to begin, this place is just the worst. Went there for dinner on a date and the service and food were terrible. We had to remind the waiter 3 times we wanted water, it can about 20 minutes after we sat down. Our appetizer showed up 45 mins after we ordered it and after we asked about it 3 times. The waiter said it was delievered to the wrong table. Then he said it was also because the printer in the kitchen didn't print the order. Yeah right... Our food was HORRIBLE. Pasta with vodka was so bad my date asked for hotsauce to give it any kind of flavor. My chicken was so dry it was like eating a piece of rubber. The veggies were also cold.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!
Clean and fun! – I love this place, and I'm not even a sports bar fanatic.
Everything is brand new, and it's a huge open space with flat screen TVs over the bars and lots of seating room. It's nice and close to Madison Square Garden, and it's got the nicest waitstaff. There is an upstairs room for private parties, and if you are lucky, you'll get the table right in the front window, so you can people watch as you suck down your brews near the bar. The bathrooms are so CLEAN!
The only down side is that there is no one there really past 9:30 PM on a Friday night...just a few guys in suits and a lonely dude nursing his beer. I guess that's good if you just want to hang out with a few of your buddies, but if you are looking to meet people it kind of sucks.
