Part of the reason I love my new 'hood is because of the gems of restaurants in the vicinity. Pizza Rustica is family-owned (the husband/wife chef/manager team is awesome) and their "large" pizza is actually the size of a HUGE pizza sheet - it's kind of like two pizzas in one. This is an Italian gem that locals and non-locals should rush to.
Great Atmosphere, Great Food – Eaten here many times. Each time I leave happy and contented. BYOB helps. Relaxed atmosphere so if the place is busy don't expect to get in and out fast.
My favorites. 1) the meatballs with any of the pasta , 2) if spare ribs with a pasta are on the special, get it. I dream about the spareribs. 3)pastas with cream sauces especially special raviolis like artichoke or squash, again sometimes on special and 4) any of the pizzas.
Every time I go there I vow not to overeat, I fail every time. There is no pretension to the wait staff, just nice people.
Nice BYOB, better pizza elsewhere – Quaint place on the Sheridan BYOB stretch, not a big fan of the pizza though. The crust is very thick, was overcooked and bordering on burned around the edges, and COMPLETELY overpowered the toppings that were on the pizza. The crust had a very smoky flavor and was crunchy which just didn't work for me. It might be worth a second shot given that I live in the neighborhood but for now I still go to D.O.C. or others.
The best thin crust in the city! – I have been to this place several times and my friends are impressed when I take them. They rave about the flavors of the food! Pasta is delicious and authentic. If you are into pizza that boasts a thin crust and crisp then you will love this. Comfort food on a very intimate scale (not a large place), but an outstanding value for your buck!
Great Pasta and Pizza!! – I love this place. It's small and quaint. The food is phenominal! It's real Italian food cooked by an Italian. My one and only complaint is that there is not enough wait waitstaff. There are only 2 waitresses and no bus boys. You generally have to wait a while for anything. But if you have an evening with time to spare this place is AWESOME!
Great toppings & portion sizes! – I can never bring myself to try the pasta here - even though I'm sure it's quite good - because the pizza is just out of this world! Crispy yet chewy in places crust perfectly supports whatever toppings you choose - they have everything from traditional pepperoni to olives and artichoke hearts. You can get individual pieces or a whole pie, and the prices are great. Service is fast & friendly. A great little find near the red Sheridan El stop!
Great Pizza! – The pizza at this place is awesome especially if you like thin crust. The decor is nice and the staff is very friendly. It was a wonderful dining out experience.
Fabulous Food & People!! – We love this new authentic little establishment!! The pizzas are very tasty and fresh ingredients make them superior to other neighborhood spots. But...it's the pasta that's incredible. Many types to choose from and I was taken with the homemade meatballs - they taste so fresh and real, like they were made right then by an Italian grandmother with her secret recipe. The daily specials are exciting, too. Overall, it's a great dining experience!!
Casual, dine-in pizza parlor attracts locals for pasta, pies and BYOB policy. – In Short
Among other restaurants along the lively Sheridan strip, this storefront draws attention for the smells alone. Faux terra cotta walls are as far as decoration goes in the tight dining room/kitchen. Six tables are usually packed with enthusiastic neighborhood dinners chowing on oven-fresh, square pizza with any combination of the dozen available toppings. Light salads, panini, and mix and match pasta and sauces flesh out the pizza-centered menu.
