Fast & Delicious – As a BIG fan of white pizza I can easily say this is the best in the neighborhood.
Speed should not mean sacrifice. Want a slice or a pie in a hurry - forget Domino's, head straight to Libretto's.
The delivery team is frequently congregated right out front.
The staff is friendly and reliably prompt.
They do have a vast selection at the ready for to go slices.
All that I have sampled have been good, but I consistently return for the white.
By Far Best Pizza in City – My first time back in New York in 5 years. Was craving some "real" pizza. I found it on 3rd Ave! Great selection of pies, full menu and even ordered a bowl of pasta to my hotel room later that night. Great Food!
Crazy Waitress Trumps Awesome Vodka Slice – For some reason, the waitress in this place thinks SHE's doing YOU a favor by bringing you pizza. Last time I checked, pizzerias are in the service industry. I'm doing you a favor for being a patron, lady.
My co-workers and I love the pizza at this place, particularly the vodka slice; however, we are unable to have a pleasant lunch because the waitress always has an issue. First we got attitude because we ordered at the counter and sat to eat (she prefers that you order through her - understandable). Then it was no good to order individual slices, but better to order a pie (she's trying to save us a buck - ok, thanks). Alas, pie's take too long for her, and we ended up using tables that could be used for other patrons! So we ordered ahead. That was no good either, because we didn't get there fast enough and she had to hold a table. The woman then proceeded to freak-out on us for taking 10 minutes longer than we should have to walk down the block, and would NOT shut up about it.
Basically, it's no shocker that Libretto's has a thriving delivery business. Everyone else that works in this establishment is friendly and helpful. I think the place is as clean as any other good pizzeria in NYC, and the pizza is awesome. They have great variety, and I have a small addiction to their vodka and grandma slices. Libretto's, PLEASE get rid of your waitress! I would have given you five stars, but crazy lady bumped you down to only three.
Mediocre Pizza, Bad Service and in Need of Cleaning – I used to go to this place when I worked on the east side, but was moved to the west side so it had been a while. I'm working on the east side again, so I went back. As I walked through the door, I was greeted by less than the most sanitary conditions I have ever seen. Figuring that if I can eat chicken from a cart on the corner, I can handle a dirty pizzeria, I ordered anyway. There were two of us there and we were waiting for a third, so we sat down at a booth "reserved" for parties of three or more.
As we're sitting, the Booth Police asked how many we were going to be, to which I explained that we were two with a third to follow shortly. Before I was half way done with my first slice, The Booth Sargeant asked "so where's your third guy", to which I explained that he was coming and that I had not made him up to illicitly use a booth in contravention to pizza parlor regulations.
Now I'll admit that this little turdler questioning me not once, but twice, about the number of people in our group was annoying. It was made even more annoying when he said in the middle of his half-empty restaurant "well, if a three-top comes in, I'm moving you". Better yet, the booth in front of us and the booth in back of us were both occupied by two people, and not a question was asked of either.
Okay, so I'm in a bad mood and eating at a less than ideal looking establishment, but the lunch could've been saved if the pizza was good. Alas, such was not to be. It wasn't terrible mind you, but it was no better than the 99-cent slices to be gotten on 43rd between 3rd and Lex, and I was looking for better after paying $8.50 for two slices and a soda. Soggy crust and a general lack of flavor.
Not a good experience.
So much more than just a pizza place! – Great food! It is so much more than just a pizza place; they have a great selection of Italian dishes. Try the soups and the chopped salad, or the whole wheat penne with broccoli and garlic. Great service and a very friendly atmosphere to sit down for a meal. And the home-made tiramisu is the best!
Great Neighborhood Place – I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a solid Italian meal. The marinara sauce is so tasty you want to lick the plate. The meatballs are also great, homemade, you can tell. Salads are freshly made, try the chopped salad (roasted pepper, olives, chick peas, feta) - with a tasty balsamic vinegairette. The owners and employees are so nice, always coming over and making you feel welcome. A great find in Murray Hill.
Favorite Sandwich Ever – I order from this place all the time and its awesome. I highly recomend the grilled chicken sandwich with fresh mozz and peppers. Sooooooo good!
Delivery is pretty quick too...
Dirty! Unsanitary conditions! – I am terribly disappointed in Libretto's pizza. This is actually the 2nd time that this has happened to me there and it is the last. I do not know why I went back for a 2nd time. I am not sure why this is such a difficult concept but why is the guy that is touching my pizza handeling the money! I even addressed it with the pizza guy and he shrugged my comments off. Money is the dirtest thing in the world! This is a violation and a health hazard and we need to start speaking up when we see this. Would you lick the dollars in your wallet? No! Because that is disgusting. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT! I am voting with my dollar and never going back.
Almost anyone who enters our restaurant can vouch for the high level of cleanliness we demand of our staff and our establishment (not everyone apparently). Pizza slice service is done using a pizza spatula, not our hands- and our pizza station is equipped with a sink and soap to be sure our hands are nice and clean if we do need to handle food. Money is certainly dirty, yet most of our guests do sit and enjoy their slice after paying and handling money without washing their hands (myself included), so it doesn't seem to be a universal fear. We do strive to keep everyone satisfied, but some people simply cannot be.
Complete Disaster – I tried dining there last night and it was a complete disaster. I have never received such bad service AND bad, overpriced food at the same time. I usually give a restaurant a second chance but not this time. Waitress paid no attention to us even though the place was empty and was very rude. And what restaurant doesn't give you bread with an entree?
Wow, if we can't please a Knicks fan...
Outstanding service – Placed my order from San Francisco for a surprise delivery in Manhattan. Mike was an absolute star. I will definitely check out Libretto's myself the next time I'm in New York.
