Neighborhoods: Fort Greene
Perenially crowded during its spring to fall open season, Habana is that chill weekend outdoor joint you love to grab frozen mojitos, Sixpoint beers, spicy corn and Cubanos at. This spot is also environmentally focused, with a rainwater reharvesting system and frequent environmental events. Also try the skirt steak, which is tender, delicious and filling. Good for babies and big groups.
Sister to Soho's Cafe Habana, this summer-only restaurant in Fort Greene serves the same popular grilled corn, Cubans and mojitos. – In Short
The indoor-outdoor restaurant is not typical. Graffiti art decorates the place and the bar is made from a 1949 GMC pickup truck. Activities include live DJs, cultural performances, movie screenings and a car wash; plus, parents can relax with on-site activities for the kids. House salads, the famous Cuban, hamburgers and veggie burgers, beer and margaritas fill the casual menu. An added bonus: The whole restaurant runs on solar power.
