Excuse us all – I happen to live right up the street from the Roosevelt Hotel and have gone to the Tropicana bar before it's "revamp". The drinks were about the same and the atmosphere definitely wasn't as cool but at least I felt like a normal human being. Now I can't get in unless I'm a very hot girl or a B-list celebrity. I go to pretigous clubs and bars fairly often and can usually get in but not this one. The bouncers are extremely rude and when I did finally get in the service was terrible.
WannaBs – As we parked we over heard some poor disappointed girls moaning who they were refused entrance to this all but trendy bar. My friends and I got there and were allowed entrance with no hassles at all. From all the bars/ hip spots this was a total let down. All we saw was has been 105lb starlets in their 20s trying to look anorexicly hot, as much as anorexic will allow you to. Stay way, Stay away, OVER priced. rude overweight security. If your idea of chill is at a cool spot try some of the HOT celeb joints that the "regulars" dont know about YET, out towards the beaches.
If you can get in....... – I read this quote by Amanda Scheer Demme, "I think it needs to be about really great, interesting people, I want to create a crowd, the ultimate mix. I want it where you have musicians and painters and photographers and young and old and Eastside rockers and Westside whatever".
Finally, a cool, non pretentious LA bar. Upon entering the hotel I was informed by the bouncers that it was a private party, and is every night. A few days later we had an opportunity to go through some list-worthy friends. We considered declining, but went. The scenery is amazing, beautiful pool, beautiful people. The ambiance made it worth it, but my advice to Amanda is to be honest. Tell the truth: a pretentious bar where the rich and famous can mingle with each other. This way the real artists and writers can stick to the bars that welcome them.
Golden age venue converges with New Hollywood crowds at Roosevelt Hotel's cool and casual poolside lounge. – The Golden Age converges with New Hollywood at the Roosevelt Hotel's cool and casual poolside lounge. The patio bar is a mid-century modern urban oasis. Surrounded by palm trees and private bungalows, industry hotshots and artist types recline on linen-covered chaise lounges; wearing $300 jeans and flip-flops, they absorb the '50s Palm Springs-meets-A-list Hollywood vibe, cocktails in hand. Amid the glass-and-chrome decor, one highlight of the former space remains perfectly intact: the swimming pool's underwater David Hockney mural.
An alright place, def good for once. – This place was actually a lot of fun. i went here last friday with a mixed group of guys and girls for my girlfriends 21st. We had so much fun. The people working there were really nice and it was a pretty chill place for hollywood
