love this place – my new favorite saturday night spot is Cattyshack, the dancefloor is pumping. the sat dj is slammin. he's one of my favorites. i see him at snapshot on tues too. the dancers are hot and the staff is always so nice.
Worth the short trek to Bklyn! – Yes, Cattyshack is in Brooklyn but you've got to make the trip IF you want to hit the best girl club in New York. Not just one night, but 7 days a week! It has somehow avoided being victim to the cliche "jack of all trades, master of none" and successfully provides most everything to everyone. I love that the sporty ones have their big screens and football, drinkers have their great specials, smokers have their deck (where they can actually drink too!), Lady-lovers have hot dancers, and the scenesters of every type have frequent events that will continue to take this new space to the next level. I just can't wait for it to keep getting better as more people discover this place and fill in any gaps in an already diverse crowd. (I swear I don't work for them! I just dig this place THAT much)
Meow Mix Lives – If you look really close you'll see od Moew Mix staff and even some mementos from the old bar all around Cattyshack. Signature "Don't F--- With The Ladies" tshirts have been replaced by "I Heart Brooklyn" ones, but the gritty downtown energy hasn't been replaced by Park Slopian domesticity. One quick correction to an earlier review, Cattyshack welcomes EVERYONE straight, gay, trans you name it. I'm gay but have brought all different friends in and no one's ever been given any flack. I mean, a straight guy might not WANT to walk unwittingly into the leather boy's night on wednesdays, but he'd be welcome. The bouncers do remind people it's a Gay bar since there's no rainbow flags outside or anything, but that's a far cry from barring straight guys.
Nice range of spaces – Love the fact that it's 2 blocks from my place. But even if it were a bit of a trek I think I'd like it. Upstairs the deck is lovely, there's room for talking and the lighting makes us all look fabulous. Downstairs on weekends there's a dancefloor that is bumping. Music could be better (Sat nite: top 40 hip hop/R&B. Not horrible, but occasionally there's a song that's been played out). Great place for going for a date or low key chilling w/ friends. Like the lack of attitude.
WOW!!! Brooklyn Stunner! – This club is great! I live in the Upper East Side and still venture all the way to Park Slope for this place. If you don't already know though, this is a lesbian bar, every night of the week. No straight guys allowed, gay men are okay. The vibe is the best of any girl club I've been to in a while. Mixed crowd, mixed music. Check out the patio before it closes for winter! All types of chicks, mainly indie boyish cuties. Very laid back. Friendly staff.
