Overall great experience – We went to Bistro 215 because we had received a gift certificate from a friend. We honestly had no intention of stopping by, but I am very happy that we did. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience. The calamari was exception and I highly recommend going if you get the chance. The filet was very reasonsably priced for what I expected. After dinner, we enjoyed wine with the flourless chocolate tort which, again, I highly recommend. Quite honestly, the food was great, but the atmostphere and service really made it one of the best experiences. I think what made it stick out so much in my mind is the fact that I went not expecting much. I wouldn't recommend this place for a business occassion, but for a reasonable night on the town....great date location!
"French" eating falls incredibly short – I went to this restaurant with a large group for a business meeting.
The host of the meeting allowed us to order anything that we wanted. We ordered a very nice bottle of French red wine and the wine was extremely warm, much warmer than room temp. I asked the waiter to cool it down for us and when he brought it back, it was like he had put it in the freezer and chilled it to white wine temperature. I was so surprised that a "French" restaurant was so lacking in wine service.
The food was marginal, to say the most. The sashimi tuna was overcooked, the steaks were bland, and the multiple appetizers that we ordered were on-par with O'Charley's.
On top of all of this, the private room was extremely cold.
I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to impress their guests.
A lovely neighborhood restaurant – Try the tuna Nicoise, the chicken Bordelaise, the hanger steak and the ribs, all of which are terrific. The cheese plate appetizer is generous and well selected. Some dishes are not as successful, but there are always many nice touches -- the bread is fresh and from Provance, and the service is invariably professional and friendly. The wine list is reasonable and carefully chosen. Like virtually all Nashville restaurants with outdoor seating, this one faces a parking lot. But the cars are a good distance away, there are heating units for cool weather, and the ambience is that of a Paris street cafe. Why customers wait in line for mediocre food in the cheesecake factory just across the way, when 215 is an option, beats me. All in all, this is a great addition to dining in the Green Hills area, and, for that matter, worth a trip across town.
