great dining experience – What a great neighborhood spot. We had the Duck appetizer along with the heirloom tomato salad, followed with the wild salmon, and the petrale sole/short rib dinner. The salmon was outstanding and the sole/short rib combo, which was recommended by the waiter, was unbelievable. The combination sounded different, but what a great pair! Accompanied with a glass of Syrah, I cannot remember having a better dinner. For dessert we shared the plums with vanilla ice cream and a glass of port. Will definately be back to my new favorite restaurant.

It's a gem! – The Richmond is a great neighborhood restaurant. We ate dinner while watching the ballgame at the small bar, and the staff and fellow patrons couldn't have been nicer. Add to that the topnotch food and it's a can't miss evening. Go and enjoy!

just SOOOOOO great!!!!!!!! – I had planned to have one-good-restaurant-food on my budget vacation to SF, and I found out about this restaurant thru citysearch. Oh, the compliments I got for picking such a perfect restaurant!!! It was pricier than I expected, but the food, ambience, and especially the service way more exceed my expectations! We had the salmon, halibut, steak and raviloi - basically almost everything - SO GOOD!! It's a must try place~!!

Whoo-hoo! – The food was excellent! I had the wild line salmon, my friend had the herb-encrusted chicken and both entrees were quite delicious! It's kind of pricey (for a student such as myself), but quality was well worth the extra bucks. We were lucky enough to get in without reservations, but I doubt that we'll be so fortuitous next time. I am definitely coming back and would highly recommend it to SF diners.

What a great new find! – We are always looking for great food at a value, without sacrificing atmosphere and we found it! Everything we ordered was fantastic, and served with such style without being "stuffy". Definately try the scallops with deconstructed clam chowder. You get elegance with Chef Owyang's own touch like the mint oil with doll melon, and chive oil complimenting many of the dishes. The burger is outstanding, and a tough second to the New York Steak, which was a reasonable $22. A definate must try!

Amazing neighborhood place – Tonight my wife and I had one of the best San Francisco meals we've had in years - twice as good and less than half the price of Michael Mina. The space is modest, but the food is world class, befitting a former chef from Elisabeth Daniel. Very fresh ingredients, perfectly done fish, great heirloom tomato salad, and a dessert made of amazing plums and homemade vanilla ice cream. Comparable SF restaurants would be Chez Papa, Delfina, Merenda when it was still around. Quiet, unpretentious, casual, but really special food and great attention to detail in both food and service.

Alaskan Halibut with summer ratatouille and red pepper sauce was perfect and arranged on the plate like a beautiful painting. We got friendly and wonderful service from our waiter, Scott. Excellent cuisine by a chef par excellence.

Wanted to like these nice folks – Staff made me feel welcome, as did the eye-catching free tiny aperitif of melon ball with cute sauces. Starter, seared scallops (two of them, diameter of a quarter) was savory. But wedge of salmon was nearly flavorless. Its bed of green-tinged mashed potatoes was coarse; two drizzled-on sauces added little, and many halved cherry tomatoes in colors from red to green and in-between were disconcerting. Remember that neighborhood parking is tough and consider taking Muni.

A Great Find in the Richmond – Delicious food- sauces were a little rich. It's great to see some variety in the Richmond. Owner/chef spoke with us for a few minutes- getting to know his new clientele. We will be back.

Nice food, a little stuffy – Had dinner at The Richmond after seeing such great write-ups on citysearch. We found the staff to be a little uppity and unfriendly--perhaps due to the neighborhood location we expected them to be a little friendlier. The food was good with a great presentation, and was a good value. The decor was a bit sterile which added to the stuffy vibe, which may be what they were going for, but I like a restaurant to be friendly and warm.

Three-hour Dinner?!? – This place fills a void in the neighborhood. The food was great but the service was horrible! The wait between our appetizers and main course was about 45 minutes without our plates from the previous course being removed or an explaination from the waiter. After we finished our main course our dinner plates remained in front of us for another 40 minutes. We reluctantly decided to order desert - only to wait another extremely long period. Finally the waiter came to our table and mentioned that the chef didn't like the way the chocolate tart turned out so he was making another one - free of charge. Granted this is a new restaurant (only open for 6 weeks) so I'm sure they are still trying to find their groove. I will give them one more visit - hopefully our waiter will be more seasoned (it was his second night).
