Money lost. I'm also very upset - my kids presented me a gift card to this salon ($200.00) in November 2007. I found the information on this card that it is valid one year from date of issue. Decided to use it in summer time. I tried to make an appointment in June, July and August - but couldn't reach them by the phone. Tried to find the information on the web.site, but finally realized that salon is closed, and could not find any answer who will return my money in this case. Is anybody responsible for such "tricks"?
Who are the Owners?. Can anyone tell me how to get in touch with the owners? I called today to make an appointment for which I was going to use a $125 gift certificate only to discover that they were closed. I am so, so dissappointed--and so is my boyfriend who gave me the gift certificate! No one even so much as called to say, "we're closing--you might want to use your gift certificate asap!" :(
Empty?. So read the great reviews, saw the recent award for best haircut, called to make an appointment...no answer. I work right around the corner, figured the phone thing was a mis dialed # or somethin so I stopped by to make my appointment and...the place was empty, empty as in closed! No staff, no equipment, no salon! Why do they still have a listing if they dont exist anymore? I seeked out the #2 winner Frances ray jules, (i was desperate for a haircut) by north station & and they were even surprised to hear that 98 north salon was closed. But any who, got a great cut & a free 30 minute massage! I guess it was just fate!
Heard they were closing?. I have read the recommendations for this establishment, but rumour has it they are closing their doors? I did try to book an appointment into June but they wouldn't take anything beyond May. Seems a pity with the high rating they have.
Fantastic stylist!. I got highlights and cut with Michael and have received a ton of compliments. He is a really nice person and fun to talk to while getting your hair done! It really stuck out to me that everyone at 98 North is friendlier and especially more down to earth than other salons I have been to in Boston. I haven't used any of their other services yet, but it would be the first place I would go. I would however recommend looking at the map on their website because 98 North is a little bit tucked away in the North End.
Nice Touch............ I recently had a mani, pedi and haircut at this salon and was pleasantly surprised with the service and their ability. The salon is in an office building but the set up is cute and comfortable. I was a little apprehensive at first when I saw the pedicure chair. It did not have the water jets I am use to. But after a long discussion about sanitation I will never use the other ones again. My hair looks great . I received a note from both employees thanking me for coming along with a discount on my next visit.
Great Customer Service and Quality Work. A friend recommended 98 North. I had a haircut, mani and pedi and I found everyone to be down to earth and extremely professional. I loved the separate areas and will definitely go back for more services.
Love it!!!. I just moved to Massachusetts and was having trouble in finding a place to color my hair. A friend of a friend recommended this salon and I decided to give it a try. It was perfect!!! My hair looks great and Michael was wonderful. I also had a manicure with Blanca and all my friends are complementing my nails ??.I will definitely go back!
Fantastic massage, terrible environment.
First off, I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who sang Sal's praises as a massage therapist. He was really great. However, I doubt I'll be going back due to the very un-spa-like environment of the place. I think if you're going to charge true spa prices (which 98 North does), then you should have things like locker rooms with showers and--more importantly--quiet massage rooms! Many of the rooms, including mine, are directly off the area where they do manicures and pedicures. I spent 90 minutes trying to block out the constant laughter and chatting that was taking place right outside the door. It was *really* loud, and unfortunately I never succeeded in blocking it out.
The very nice woman at the front desk did say she would give me a discount the next time I came in (I had commented to her on the noise), but honestly, I just don't think it's worth going back. If you do decide to get a massage here, I'd recommend you request Sal and insist on a room that's as far as possible from the manicure/pedicure area. Also, just know that there are no locker/shower rooms--you'll be changing in the massage room itself.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I bought a certificate to this salon and spa and I am so happy I did. I had no idea where it was and to be honest it is a little out of the way but worth it. I had the best massage I ever had from Sal and a great haircut too. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of work. Everyone who works there is so friendly. This is a great place to relax.
