Hello, I have used planet beach for 4 1/2 years paying 64.90 monthly. On Feb 11th, 2014 I entered the store and told the owner I wanted to cancel my membership, he said OK but I would have to pay for next month because I didn't cancel by Feb. 4th. I said ok fine, I thought it was a little cold for being such a loyal customer but ok. I was charged the 64.90 for March (NOTE: I have not tanned since I canceled Feb. 11th). I called today March 17th and wanted to make sure I was good because someone told me that they will get nasty when you cancel and charge your card anyway. I called and asked the girl working and she said no it wasn't canceled in the computer but she would call because I explained I had spoken to the owner. She called me back and said she spoke to him and he remembers me telling him I wanted to cancel but because I failed to sign a cancelation form I would be charged for April. I said when I told him I wanted to cancel he got on the computer typed something (or pretended to type) and said ok (i assumed he was entering the cancelation, he never told me I had to sign a cancelation form. I don't understand why he didn't have me sign it at that time because I was canceling at that time, he knows what has to be done to legally cancel by the fine print and it's really bad that he would deliberately deceive me so he could steal from me. There's no other way to look at that other than he's stealing money from me, why would anyone make that alright?? Watch out doing business with this group because there nice nasty, if they see you might not be able to continue using them for whatever reason I guess you’re no use to them anymore. It's sad really because I didn't see that coming from them at all; I would defiantly go elsewhere for tanning services if I were you. Buyer Beware – DO NOT sign any contract with these people...they are a rip off. Pay as you go! Recieved two tans over one year and cost was over $500.00 and they threatened to have it reported on my credit. I pay for what I get and this was a wakeup call for me with this company.
Great Place! – I just moved to Chapel Hill and have been looking for a tanning salon - this place fit the bill and so much more! I ended up tanning, signing up for red light therapy, and even got my teeth whitened. Brent, the owner/operator, is fantastic and really knows how to give good customer service. My Mom was with me (up visiting from Florida) and he gave her a free 30 minute oxygen treatment while I was having my teeth whitened. Also, the place is spotless and kept impeccably clean. The only quasi-negative thing I could say is that the teeth whitening costs $159, and I don't think it's worth quite that much. However, I got mine done for $89 on a special they were running and it was definitely worth every penny; so you might want to check out if they have any upcoming specials before you commit to anything. Overall the place is great and I'm so excited to be a customer!
Owner replying to "just my opinion." – I would like to respond to the ad written below by "just my opinion".
I am sorry you feel that we have slighted you. As you are the only customer that has tried to use back to back $20 week coupons we were able to identify your account and look up your history with us. You came in and used a val pak coupon starting on April 30th. Between April 30th and May 6th you used the $20 coupon to do 7 services including 2 "vibrating misting bed" session. You used a total of $196 in sessions that week, all for $25.00, and thats just great as we offer these $20 weeks for new customers to get a real feel for our great spa services!
You then came back May 6th to try and use a similar coupon for another week at $20 . We politely informed you that you cannot use another week for $20 and even offered to call groupon on your behalf to refund your money in full. I do not understand why this was not acceptable but I am truely sorry you are not satisifed.
I can still try and get your money back from Groupon for you and I can also work a great deal out for you on becoming a member.
Lost my business – I recieved a coupon in the value pack for 1 week of service for $20. My busy schedule only allowed me to go once. I layed in a vibrating misting bed (waste of time) and used the oxygen tank (tubes cost additional $5.). This 30 minute experience cost $25. plus tax. I consider this my fault for not having time to fully experience what they have to offer.
I decide to give it another chance so I went today with my Groupon. I was promply sent away by the 7 year old "manager" who said I was not allowed to use my Groupon because I had been there in the last 6 months.
Is this legal?
Pleasant Experience – Planet Beach at South Square is my first experience with indoor tanning. Having many questions regarding indoor tanning, I have always found the staff extremely helpful and informative. They are always professional, friendly and courteous. At Planet Beach you get a full spa experience including different levels of tanning beds and if you prefer to forego UV rays, Mystic Tan. The atmosphere is inviting and the facility is super clean. This is my second season of indoor tanning at Planet Beach and I don't intend on it being my last. You will not be disappointed!!!
Informing and Friendly – I have had a wonderful experience with Planet Beach Contempo Spa Renaissance. I was hesitant about Planet Beach after reading the reviews. However, I decided to give it a try, as its location was unbelievably convenient for me. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted and informed of all of the options Planet Beach had to offer. I expressed what I was hoping to get from my Planet Beach experience and Shea was more than helpful in answering all of my questions and providing me with various options that would work. I left Planet Beach extremely satisfied on my first visit. I have been going to Planet Beach for two months now, and the service has consistently been outstanding. They have gone above and beyond to get to know me as a customer and I greatly appreciate the personal service. I would highly recommend Planet Beach Contempo Spa Renaissance to anyone that is looking for outstanding, helpful, personal service at a clean and inviting spa.
Great for the most part! – There are lots of pros to this place! I've been a client for almost four years now and pay the same price each month that I initially signed up for. In addition, the selection of beds is fantastic - between the basic, VIP, platinum, stand-up, Mist, and spa beds, there really is a bed to fit my needs for that day, whether that be time, length and intensity of exposure, etc. Needless to say, the place in my experience has always been spotless and very clean.
The only con is the customer service. When the owners are there, they're fantastic - they greet you, are friendly, and make the atmosphere nice when there's a wait for the beds. If the managers aren't there, though, and the ladies at the front desk are left to their own devices, your experience might be less than stellar. I'm very rarely spoken to (even when I greet them or thank them afterward) and on several occasions have had to wait while they finish up their personal phone calls. One one occasion, one of the ladies was screaming expletives while on the phone with KFC because they had gotten her order wrong; several of us had to wait a few minutes while she screamed on the phone before we were acknowledged.
So occasionally the customer service might not be great by any means but I think the other pros to the place make up for it!
Very caring experience – I have been a member at PB for about 3 years now. I had to put my account on hold/freeze; I just could not afford it anymore. Then as many may have experienced my bank sent me a different debit card. Did I mention I also moved and never updated my information? Needless to say my PB account fell 3 months behind due to the different numbers on my debit card and they needed to place my account into collections. As a professional I completely understand.
Once I was finally tracked down by the collection agency, I was able to call the store, speak to the owner, go in the next day and talk about my options. When I went in the Owner (Brent) was fabulous. I explained that I had recently been laid-off as well and how I just had been in a really bad place. He was completely supportive and sensitive to the situation. My new information has been entered; I am now out of collections and TRUST me when I say they worked with me.
Then to top it off, he could tell I was stressed and gave me a 20 Hydration on the house. PB is a great place and I will never go anywhere else. When I left they were more concerned about me as a person then my account. Not many owners of a company would take that amount of time or give that amount of consideration
This Place Is The Place To Be! – If you want that Beautiful Deep Bronze Tan that you see and think Dang I want that tan!! Then this is the place to go!! The staff is great and the beds are Wonderful!! If you want to stay away from the UV rays then get a spray tan! I had it done for my wedding and it looked great!
