So amazing! Fresh every time! – I've gone to Raw at least 5 time within the past two months. It's so delicious and affordable! With every item I've ordered the food is fresh, smells wonderful, and tastes even better! I'm completely addicted to Raw, plus, the prices are amazing. If you come during "Happy Hour", the prices are even better. I don't work there, I promise...I just love it! The atmosphere is amazing; serene, relaxed, very cool interior designs going on.
I've always had incredible customer service, and the food has always arrived within 20 minutes of ordering.
- Vegan Roll, so good! It's my absolute favorite, and for $8, is enough to fill my stomach and take some home.
- Mexicali Roll, spicy, with a fresh and tangy mayo sauce.
- Beer battered fries. Enough said. So good.
- Everything with curry. Such a good blend of curry and fresh veggies, the vegan is my favorite.
- Teriyaki chicken with rice pilaf. Mmmm!
The worst customer service EVER – While the atmosphere seems pleasant upon entry, it goes strait south from there. Our waitress was rude & never around. The restaurant was not busy at all. She was upset that our entire party did not arrive at the same time. She was not knowledgeable about the menu. She continued to ask to give our table away. And then did so & asked people who were with us to scrunch down so we had 8 people smashed into a tiny little corner. When one of the people at our table asked why she was being so rude to us. The waitress snapped at her & gave a list of excuses about her manager. Bottom line I will never recommend this place to business associates, co workers, family, friends or enemies. Absolutely horrible experience. Several of the people in our party had just flown in from LA & Seattle this was not what they were hoping for I am sure.
Food less than great, service just okay – My first time at Raw will most likely be my last. I had heard from friends that the service was bad, but a friend and I wanted to try it anyway. We were seated quickly and our server was pleasant and quickly filled out drink orders. I ordered a two item plate from the lunch menu and my friend ordered a salad and sushi. Our waiter should have asked if my friend wanted her salad with the rest of our lunch, but he didn't and brought her salad with the fork laying in the salad dressing, ick. and then we waited for another 20 minutes for the rest of our lunch to come, so she had to eat alone. When the rest of our food did come, my order was wrong. Instead of the salmon I ordered I had got chicken. So the waiter quickly took this back to the kitchen and stated that it would only be a minute to correct. After about 5 minutes another waiter brought out half on my order and stated that the rest would be out soon. Another 10 minutes and it was delivered to my table. The overall opinion that I have on the food I got was that it was tasty, when I finally got what I had ordered, but that they skimp on stupid things. Cole Slaw is cheap, give a good serving of it, not just the tablespoon that arrived. Also for lunch I don't expect massive amounts of food, but for the rib order, three ribs instead of the two would have been nicer, and when my salmon did finally arrive it was mostly undercooked, (I don't like sushi) and I was only able to eat a few bits of it. And once our food had arrived our service became MIA and we didn't see him again until it was time for us to wrap up and get the bill. To his credit, he expressed regret over the condition of my food and took it off our bill. Still after my lunch I left feeling hungry, not what I expected. I think that Raw could be a great place to go if the management corrects a few things such as making sure the service and staff are consistent and friendly, give good size portions and prepared as ordered.
Great Atmosphere – Raw is a fun restaurant and would be great to take people who are visiting from out of town. Everything I have had there is delicious. The atmosphere is very trendy and it's a fun place to be. The restaurant is more of a Hawaiian/Pacific Sushi restaurant, it's not your typical Japanese Sushi restaurant. Very good!
Too Bad The Service Was Bad... – I had been to Raw many times and loved the food. When I had a group of friends visiting from out of town, I thought it would be a perfect place to go. I set a reservation for a Friday night and we arrived a bit early. The hostess was completely rude but led us to our table. As we sat down, she told us she had another party coming in 45 minutes so we would have to be done by then. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A RESERVATION! I was completely taken aback. I wish I would have said something right there but I was too in-shock. The next day I called and spoke with someone that identified himself as a manager. He was pretty nonchalant about the whole situation. I will not go back, nor will anyone that I was there with. It's a shame because I really enjoy their sweet potato fries!
OMG! Raw Sushi & Island Grill was totally fantastic! – Raw Sushi & Island Grill was totally fantastic. The Service was prompt, courteous and precise. The ambiance was nice, comfortable open and welcoming. THE FOOD WAS THE BEST!! Now, I lived in Kona Hawaii for more than 5 years and I can say with confidence the Sushi was truly Island Fresh. Not only was the fish fresh and of excellent quality, Raw Sushi & Island Grill out did themselves with the presentation. One of our selections was the caterpillar roll. It was cleverly presented as a real caterpillar, complete with green (Avocado) skin and octopus suction cup eyes. DELICIOUS!! I enjoyed my Kal Bi Steak which was cooked to perfection and served with white rice and a spicy sauce. Our Dinner at Raw Sushi & Island Grill was a great Value too. My date and I ate to our hearts content. We were Stuffed, Happy, and Satisfied! It was worth every penny of the $40.00 bucks I paid. It was so good, we are going back tomorrow for lunch or an early diner! I highly recommend Raw Sushi & Island Grill to anyone that enjoys quality, quantity, and Value in a dining experience.
Slow Service – This was my first time eating at Raw and while the ambiance was great the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. When we got there we were seated and then ignored for about 30 minutes when our server finally asked us if we would like drinks, we ordered and then he disappeared again for another half hour. All in all we were there for about an hour with nothing. The food was okay, not great, but not bad either. The prices were great they are extremely affordable, I had drinks and dinner and I believe my tab was around $11.00. Neat place but I will not go back.
Raw Used to be Good...Not Anymore – Back in the old days Raw was good...not excellent, but decent sushi. Now it takes forever to get served, pretty bad service, and the nigeri is pretty bad. A huge chunk of rice with a small slice of fish on top. Yuk! The last time I was there I was cutting half the rice off.
The whole vibe has changed, too. Pretty sad. It used to be great, but it changed hands so it's totally different now.
Save your money. You're better off taking a trip to CDA and going to Bonsai, by FAR.
P.S. I've eaten sushi from coast to coast for over 15 years and I know good sushi!
Food was fine, but experience was terrible – The food was overall good. Fresh, tasty rolls and all. No problems that way. The service and the attitude of the employees made my experience of going to Raw terrible. I was with a larger group of people who had reserved what should have been plenty of space for everyone. We get there and there was only seating for part of our group. I was one of the first ones there, ordered, and it literally took at least 45 minutes to get half of my order! The waitress knew we were missing food and didn't seem to care; just kept taking orders and THOSE orders took only a few minutes to get out to those people. Actually, we were still ordering food and eating when we were told that we had to leave; that they had another reservation waiting! Hundreds of dollars in checks and they have the nerve to kick us out! One of our party tried bringing the poor service, lack of space, and overall poor experience to the attention of the management, and the manager had the gaul to try to blame HIM for it, and then followed him outside!
Lesson learned; there are just as good, if not far better sushi joints in Spokane, and I will patron any of them except for Raw in the future.
fun environment, food just ok – Raw is a "fun" environment, very hip and upbeat. but the food was just ok.....the sushi rolls seems thrown together without care or effort. rice tasted a little old too. Drinks were good, but drink prices are higher than other local restaurants.
