Great cosy music spot and awesome sound system. If I ever dared to sing in public, I'd do it here cause they'd probably manage to make me sound tolerable. Perfect for discovering new music talent that'll make it big soon.

A secret worth keeping – I went to check this place out because a good friend works there, otherwise I would never have ventured over to La Brea to look for a really chill, really un-LA bar. I love this place and will definitely go back. It just has a really nice laid-back feel. There is no real scene, and definitely no dancing, but if you just want a quiet place to go chill, talk, and listen to some good live music, then this is definitely the place. The bar is great and has a really extensive list of wines by the class. They only offer 5 or 6 bottled beers, and don't have anything on tap, which is a little lame, but still for the ambience and the tucked-away location. You couldn't find a better-kept secret in LA

Wish they returned calls – I went to a friend's 30th birthday here a while back and thought I might also give a party here. I called and left a voicemail on the reservations line asking how I would go about renting out the space. No call back. After 5 days I called again and reached someone who assured me someone would call me back by the next day to discuss details. That was 4 days ago. It's an ok space for a party but apparently they don't want business. Strange.

red velvet martini a step ahead of the scene – not a traditional LA venue. in an area not considered a club go-to. fewer regulars than most area clubs.

its warm red velvet martini meets laid back east coast lounge. intimate. around fifty can cozy up at tables or at the bar. not designed for dancing. mainly for singer/songwriter types, but the unifying theme is the cohesive bills of the creme of the crop in LA. lends to room5 being a destination venue. you wont want to barhop.

the sound is not overbearing, but full and crisp. parking along the street is evening free except for the surrounding neighborhoods - just like anywhere in LA.

art galleries line the street in an area known for upscale shopping. youll dig the amalfi restaurant below the club. fare is not priced for scenesters or traveling bands. i liken this place to tangier. same ambience. a hidden jewel in LA.

An Unexpected Nightmare – I wanted to like Room 5, but was extremely disappointed. Less than 1 minute into the show I came for, after paying $14 admission for my designated driver and me and buying an $8 drink, the waitress *kicked us both out* because we were unwilling to purchase four more drinks immediately. I had to go on a wild goose chase with a nearly full drink in my hand to get a refund of the $14 cover with the waitress trying to shoo me out. It was a completely embarassing nightmare.
