Loved my dinner at The Diner – I had a great dinner with 3 friends at The Diner this week. It was my first time there and we were seated quickly and the service was fast and friendly.
We started with fish tacos and hummus with veggies and pita. Both were yummy and fresh.
For dinner I had a salad with goat cheese, beets and chicken. I also sampled my friend's meals which were a burger, cobb salad and fish with grilled corn on the cob.
Its easy to eat healthy here or chose a loaded burger with fries or onion rings. I am sure kids would love this place too.
The desserts were my favorite. I had banana bread pudding with chocolate chips, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I loved it! My friends had the peanut butter sundae and brownie sundae.
I can't wait to go back. I hope the weather will be warmer so I can sit outside and people watch.
horrible service, they forgot the food – We went to Diner two times this week because it was convenient, and the first night was great! The second time we went which was last night we got a horrible waitress. She took our order in a rush, put it in... we got soups to start...20 minutes later, my soup and both our meals came out at the same time. HELLO!!!!!!!! appetizer means before meal. They didnt even bring her soup at all..and the waitress claimed they were all out...and she forgot to tell us. well thats pretty dumb of you... your only job is to serve us, and service us. you didnt even come over to tell us you were out? nice job...even better? the people next to us got the soup that you were out of 10 minutes later. you didnt come back one time to check on us until we were done. pathetic service... too busy flirting with fellow staff members.
anyhow..the food is actually really good... they should really reevaluate who they hire.
Avoid! – I've been a regular at this place for quite some time. Not because of the food, which is average, but because of its convenient location etc. I usually bring many friends along after a night out in town, so needless to say I was shocked to have been treated like a criminal when I tried to go in last night. It was around 1:30 am. We were going to be seated by the hostess, when out of nowhere, this big "Sopranos" wannabe guy, stopped us and said that my gf was not allowed in. He said that she looked drunk. The funny thing is that I was the one doing the drinking n' not her. I couldn't believe it. Specially when that place serves the club goers after they are done for the night. Anyway, I tried to reason with the man (if u can call him that) but it was pointless. When I asked for the manager, he said that he would be happy to call the cops instead. What!!?? He then called us stupid puertorricans and laughed at us. I've never been treated like this in my life, and for what? for a pathetic sandwich with fries? U have got to be kidding me!
cold food and bad service – i had a veggie burger here once that I really liked. I have since ordered it in three times and been back to the Diner once. All of the deliveries took close to 1 hour to get here, I am around the corner; and the food arrived cold. Really, like it was outside for the entire hour it took to arrive. When we actually went to the Diner the service was again so slow and disorganized. How do they stay open? Great location but come on.
the staff is as nasty as the food – Our server was beyond rude from the moment we sat down and the food was awful. Eating here was a mistake I will never make again.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! – We were sober when we went here for dinner at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Maybe if we had been trashed we would have enjoyed it more. We were promptly seated because there really was not that many people there. There was a DJ playing music. He was playing his music so loudly that we could literally could not hear the waitress. She had to bend over and talk directly in our ears and we had to do the same for her. We could not hear each other at the table and had to scream to talk. It was miserable. The hostess passed by. I asked him if he could kindly ask the DJ to turn down the music because it was unbearable and we could not hear each other. We had come to talk and eat. Not dance at a club. The music was seriously that loud. The hostess never returned and the music never got better. I then went to the manager and asked him kindly if he could have his DJ turn down his music. The manager was beyond RUDE and said no. He told me that people come specifically to eat there for the DJ. Looking around there still were only a handful of tables. There were tons of empty tables. It did not look as though so many people were there for the DJ. We ate as fast as we could to get out of there. By the way the music was obnoxious. It was gospel music at first with a twist, we felt like we were in church. Then it became music from the 80s that was never really even popular in the 80s. Bring your ear plugs if you go to this hell hole in the meatpacking.
To all the bitter people who wrote before, they think just because scream at the servers they deserve FREE food! – I been in so many restaurants and always is the same type of people trying to get free food, complainers because the time?... did anybody knows this is a place where they always busy?, 40 minutes is the average time that everyone will wait to have a nice lunch in a very crowd place.
All this people treat the servers, like they are their slaves and you expect to get something from it?... please get a life!, we all know what kind of people are you!
The Diner have so many LOYAL customers and mostly of us love that place!
Don't Bother - The Diner poor service ruins even trying to get to the food – Do not bother. The service is so blatently selective and horrible. Waiters pay attention to table with parties of 3 or more while Single Serving was left waiting 15 minutes before the waiter came to me, another 10 minutes to receive my Ice Tea which came warm with a lemon with brown lemon rind, thrown in the glass. Not one bit of ice was in it. Okay now we are at the 25 minute mark.
Having ordered the Salmon Salad from the Specials menu, you would think this would be easy enough.
But know another 20 minutes and still no salad. I asked for the manager, who arrived and did nothing. Just looked at me and walked away when I explained I had now been waiting for 45 minutes and had not received my salad, while the table next to me and all around had.
On the way out, I asked the front desk area for the owners name and one person almost gave it to me unti the manager came up (real nasty) and blocked the conversation. He asked the bartender how long and she told him 40 minutes and he just smirked and said well I am not going to do nothing.
Don't bother, wish I could tell you about the food but I never received any.
had better dining experiences at Roy Rogers!! – Acoustics are terrible!! The service was deplorable, the carelessness of both the hosting staff and of the overworked wait staff left much to be desired. It is ridiculously overpriced, and the food is neither well made or flavorful. The menu is boring and trite. Do not waste your time or your money... Wendy's is a little farther east down 14th street might be a better investment of time and money!
Stumbled upon a great find! – My fiance and I were out on a Saturday night with all intentions on going to check out APT. It was so not meant to be especially after finding a parking spot DIRECTLY across the street from APT!! Too good to be true.. and it was. Anyways, luckily the night was beautiful (fall at its best) and the people were out and about.. so not too bummed, we decided to walk around to find a place to get a drink and people-watch. We had no intentions on going to a "diner" but my fiance had to go really bad and thought that would be the easiest place. As soon as we walked in.. we were like.. ummm... we could stay here! The music was great and pumpin with 80s classics.. there was a bar... BINGO. We decided not to eat anything but the drink that I got was really good... It was a peach camprioso or something to the like. Very good.. We enjoyed our drinks, the music, and we will definitely return when in the Meatpacking area.
We went back during happy hour... try the $1 tacos. They are fabulously tasty. I'm mad that I only stayed long enough to have one! Oh and the server was super friendly.
