AVOID - ILLEGAL CREDIT CHARGES!!! – I went there with some Hampton locals and we had a good time at the bar - good music, awesome backyard, fun people. I tried to pay once for 2 drinks I had ordered (which totalled $30) and was told if I wanted to use a card I had to open a tab for at least $45. I left it open, ordered another drink a few hours later and closed it when we left. Once I returned home, my bank statement said I was charged $125 for a $45 tab. I have called numerous times and no one has returned my call. Their illegal activity is obnoxious and juvenile. I would avoid this bar the next time I visit.

Superb night out here!! – Had a superb night out at Madame Tong's... always heard it was a cool sceney spot so expected service to be poor but it was fantastic. The maitre'd was extremely pleasant and our server could not have been better... we moved to the cosy table by the outdoor fire place, best table in the house!

Food was good but very $$$!

Place was packed from 11pm until we left at 2am, fun cool crowd.

The bad reviews here are clearly from the sour peeps that couldn't get in as door seemed fairly strict...

Stay away. – Apparently, Madame Tong's owner is broke, but we didn't know this Saturday night. The place was nearly empty which nearly, and should have, scared us off. They waited until after we were seated and ordered drinks to tell us the menu was "limited" because of a mechanical issue in the kitchens. They said the hoods were broken. The menu was limited to nothing but sushi. Then we were told there was no wine list. While we were waiting we Googled and got the story. The sushi was fine, but at the end of the meal we were told they couldn't take Amex - apparently the guy owes them and has been cut off. Finally, the waiter begged us to tip him in cash since their paychecks had been bouncing.

Best nightclub (not restaurant) in the Hamptons! – My favorite place in the Hamptons ... but not for food! I've been going to Tong's for years for the bar scene, which is great. In all those years I have NEVER had dinner there. I have dinner someplace else and then go to Madame Tong's to dance. There is no better place to dance in the Hamptons. Yes, their drinks are overpriced, but at least they don't force you to buy a bottle for $250 like most of the other bars.

If you're looking for great food, good service or cheap drinks, this is not your place. If you're looking for a good crowd, great place to dance, and a fantastic outdoor patio, all with no cover charge, no bottle service requirement and no annoying bouncer behind a velvet rope, this is your spot.

My best description ... about 11:30pm, Tong's becomes a fantastic nightclub minus the velvet rope.

Cool Scene....But a huge rip off! – The place looks cool and the other guests were fun and friendly but $14.00 for rail drinks is a rip off. To charge $14.00 for Stoli and Captain Morgan is ridiculous. The whole bottle costs that. And on top of that. I had to wait over 5 minutes for my drink and the bartender put on a 20% tip. That is my choice to leave the appropriate tip. His job is to make drinks quickly. By the way, draft beer which costs about 50 cents a glass was $8.00. Next time I go I'll bring my own in! Ownership should not be so greedy. I know it's "The Hampton's" BUT come on!

Avoid Dining Here At All Costs, But a Decent Night Spot – We were a group of 21 women at a bachelorette party. We had preordered the appetizers and the dinner so we believed things would run smoothly. Unfortunately, we waited to be seated, and at 9:30 pm, we sat down, and waited until 12:00 to get our dinner. The worst part was, I believe their air conditioning was broken, so we were all sweating and sat there like idiots, believing the manager every 20 minutes when he lied to us and told us "dinner will be right out." It was so embarrassing for those organizing the dinner, and a couple of girls had to run to the bar to get drinks for the bachelorette because we would order drinks and our waiter would dissapear for hours and return without the drinks. The food was okay (I prefer Shun Lee for Chinese) and the atmosphere was nice, but I would hate to give this guy business after he lied to us for over two hours. After dinner, we asked for the check and the manager told us "But Dessert is ready." We finally got the picture and cancelled the dessert. They made up some arbitrary number as the cost for our food, saying they gave us a discount, but since most of us only received one drink, really, I didn't think it was so cheap at $60 a person. Also, I don't really think it was worth $60 after the sweating and the running up to the bar for drinks. The bar scene seemed okay though.

my favorite spot in the hamptons. – ok, after reading all the review i can't help but laugh. because when i think of madame tong's (one of the many JL institutions) i think of some amazing times i have had there. but when people mention the service and long waits, i would be lying if i said that they were not speaking the truth. the first time i went to tong's was with a big group of friends for a hamptons magazine event. don't get me wrong, the party was fabulous, but when we all decided we were hungry and would try and get a seat, that was when the nightmare kicked in. not only were we wating for a server to even come to our table for about an hour, after we ordered it took another hour to get our appetizers. it was miserable. but you know, i cant help but love the food at tongs. i love the dragon sushi and their general lloyds chicken. i had my birthday dinner here with my parents and they loved it MINUS the hour wait to get seated. i have been with my girls as well, and we love the crowd. its just nice to be around your own kind. i recommend tong's for that chic night out with fabulous people, drinks, and sushi. but if you aren't patient or in the mood to wait for your table dont even think about going here and try next door at nellos or savannas - both great places.

WORST PLACE FOR FOOD ON THE EAST COAST! – This is without a doubt the worst place i have eaten! Terrible Service and really bad management! I ate there twice, the first was on Memorial day weekend and it was a disaster. However being that it was the first big weekend of the summer i gave them a pass and went back. BIG MISTAKE!! We were a party of 12 with reservations. We were seated over an hour later. The sushi which all 12 of us ordered came out on 3 plates and the waiter had no idea what sushi belonged to who. He couldn't even tell us the name of each serving. After that I had to personally clear off my own table. The waiter got the drink order wrong. We ordered martinis and we got wine! Overall I ended up screaming at the waiter and the manager. The manager thought he could smooth things over by giving us free woo woo shots! The place and the staff are a joke! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
