Woohoo for super yummy cakes and desserts! – I had never been to madCakes or tasted their yummy treats until they were one of the sponsors for a friend’s fundraiser on Friday night. I ended up with two Pumpkin Spice cakes, one Red Velvet cake, a cupcake and two s’mores dessert bars… They were all AWESOME! Even two days later, the cake was moist and delicious! I can’t believe I didn’t know about them and I can’t wait to go check out the store and see what else they offer! I am super happy to find another great dessert place in town that has an awesome selection, and a creative flair. I will be back, it will be fun to surprise friends with fun little, yummy cakes. And, I would like to thank madCakes for their support at the fundraiser!
Best Bundt Cakes Ever! – Wow!
This is the best Bundt cake I have ever tried. I really like the cinnamon flavored ones. The idea that they were made today shows the quality most of us seek.
Thank you, for the special efforts, you Mad Cakers.
Those are not cupcakes....those are muffins! – I had a friend surprise me with a trip for a cupcake. They only had 3 cupcakes left when we went in and not a huge selection. The cashier asked us if we wanted them to be heated up, but when we went to eat them, they were ice cold. Also, the texture of the cupcakes were like muffins, not like a cupcake. I think we should have saved our money and just went to HEB and bought a box of Betty Crocker. I was not impressed at all. I will say the Cashier was quite nice.
Only place I go to to get cakes! – Once you have a bundt cake from MadCakes, no others will suffice. They're filling and tasty and all-around great! My favorite is the cinnamon swirl, but the double chocolate chip cake is wonderful, as well.
Now I will proceed to rant re: the below user. If you're rushing to buy your special someone a cake because you forgot, going to a small, bake-as-they're-ordered bakery is probably a little short-sighted. They make these fresh and with the intention to sell them the day they're made, so they won't be keeping a lot of cakes lying around like a grocery (and I imagine the ones they do have will be snatched up pretty quickly). Secondly, these cakes are bundt cakes with large, tasty stripes of icing (best icing ever) going down the sides, which I bet are impossible to write "happy birthday" on. When I bought one for my brother's birthday, we got it without a bow (cake-only) and just used letter candles on sticks to spell words. There *are* ways around these things.
In short: Don't try to get desserts or birthday cakes from a specialized bakery unless you're going to order before-hand--you'll only get frustrated and look silly when you write an angry review. :)
Interseting cakes bad service – Like most of us, I checked CitySearch and selected this place based on its high rating. I was in search of a birthday cake. When I arrived the tiny bakery had neither large cakes nor cupcakes for sale (you have to pre-order them) but they had a 4 inch round bund cake. When I asked if they could decorate it with any sort of frosting the server said "No" even though I could see them decorating cakes in the open bakery. Since I was short on time, I selected a small cake and asked if they could at least write Happy Birthday, something even a grocery store would do, again the server said No. As an alternative she recommended I purchase a regular paper bow which they had on sale. The short of the story is that you should avoid this bakery; there are many more excellent bakeries in town that would be more than happy to be of service. For a bakery, not to write Happy Birthday on cake, says a lot about their lack of service, especially when they are frosting cakes.
The Only Way To Go! – I had one of Madcakes cakes at an office party a week ago and was very impressed with how delicious they were. Everyone really enjoyed the cake and there was nothing left by the end of the day. I will definitely try them for my next occasion!
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors – Family-owned and operated bakery makes bundt cakes decorated with bows; baked goods include cookies, bars and cupcakes.
Best Lemon Bars In Austin – The lemon bars here are amazing and would make a great gift for the holidays. They will make gift boxes filled with your favorites. I am sending these to several friends and bringing a party tray to work for the holidays. Fresh, delicious, and highly recommended.
Best in Austin – The cakes are wonderful and so are the cookies! All of our company birthday events will be from Madcakes from now on. I can hardly wait to try the rest of their goodies! In fact, I am ordering another cake right now!
