Great Service, Great Food. This place is fabulous! On a recent visit the server we had was amazing; drinks were always filled, bread was replenished (I think we went through three baskets), dishes were explained, each course came exactly when we were ready for it, and we never got the sense that he was hovering over us. It was very refreshing to have such great service, not to mention the food. The eggplant parmesan is excellent. It is not breaded like most I have tried, but it melts in your mouth and the sauce is delicious. We also had the pumpkin ravioli which is in a cream sauce that is surprisingly light and is my favorite dish. The ossobucco is great, and in fact I have never tried anything there I haven't liked.
Great Food/Great Atmosphere/Great Service. I loved Cucina Paradiso. The atmosphere was very cozy and our server was phenomenal! He had a very thick Italian accent and made my boyfriend and I feel like we were in Italy! We had the Polenta as an appetizer which was unique and tasty- which the server recommended. Also had the Pumpkin ravioli which our server recommended as well! All in all it was a fabulous dinner and great recommendations from our server!
This restaurant was a bid disappointmenr.
The restaurant is totally unprepared for handling large crowds. Ona busy night you have to wait for 10-15 minutes even for the bread to show up on the table; and we had to ask 4 different people before they finally bring it out. The taste of the food was OK, although nothing exceptional. But the worst of all was the way the food was presented on the plate. I have never ever in my life seen a saddest food presention. Even a cheap dinner presents the food in a much nicer way.
I am afraid the place is overly overpriced for the service they offer. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anybody, and I would never go back again!
Our new favorite restaurant.
We've been living near Motor and National for months and we finally made our way over to Cucina Paradiso. We can't believe that we waited so long. This place is going to be our new weekly treat. Foremost because the food was delicious. That's usually enough, because honestly, good food is just hard to come by in LA without spending a fortune. To our surprise, the food wasn't the only great part about our visit. The atmosphere was perfect for a peaceful and romantic dinner for my fiancee and I. The waiter was informed and helpful and really a genuinely nice guy.
Everything was so delicious that we shared our whole meals with each other. I started with the mushroom tortellini soup. It was a clear chicken based broth with a hint of lemon. In the broth were sauteed spinach and perfectly cooked tortellinis stuffed with mushroom. My wife-to-be had the special asparagus salad.
For the main course, I had a birra moretti (imported italian lager) for the first time and found it to be a good accompaniment to my filet mignon in gorgonzola sauce. The filet was cooked perfectly and is a very nice cut of meat. I thought the sauce was going to be too rich and overpower the steak, but it was pleasantly light and really tasty. The meal included a couple of baby carrots and asparagus and a large bowl of mashed potatoes (I think there may be mascarpone in the potatoes) they were so delicious and creamy.
The little lady ordered the roasted chicken in a kind of rosemary lemon sauce. It was terrific. And it was a whole chicken on top of roasted potatoes with plenty of the savory sauce.
We finished the meal with a chocolate and banana tart that was also superb. Not too sweet. You can tell it's good chocolate.
One of the other reviews complained about small portions. You know, the fact is that some people will find something wrong with everything. The meals we got were enough to take a little bit home for a snack. We found some new neighborhood friends tonight.
Amazing. The food was delish! I'm not the biggest fan of salmon but the Salmon special was SO incredibly good that my husband reluctantly traded dishes with me (it was my birthday). The Swordfish special was to die for!!! It literaly melted in my mouth. OMG and the mashed potatoes and the side of spinach were out of this worled. Seriously, we live by this place and I never thought it would be so good! For desert we had the flourless choclate cake, I think its called tartuffo, and it was a chocoholic's dream, creamy and rich. It is a small piece of cake, so if you love chocolate, dont count on sharing! We went on Sunday when it was pretty much empty but it still took awhile. The waiter was very funny and charming, thus making the wait not so unbearable. And of course, the good food made up for the wait as well.
Best Italian. Oh my Gosh!!!! I have never had such a great Italian dinner, it was wonderful. The staff was great the food was the best I have ever had and the ambiance was very nice as well. You have to try the pumpkin ravioli!!! The wine, coffee and dessert were absolutly wonderful as well.
wonderful.. i am so happy to finally find a great fine dining restaurant in my neighborhood! i went to cucina paradiso on a monday--and was pleasantly surprised to find that that is their "half-off pinot noir" night. the bottle we ordered was fabulous, and such a steal! actually, everything on our table was fabulous: the salmon special, crab pasta, rapini, caesar salad... i especially recommend the polenta and truffle appetizer! the ambiance was very nice, and the service was fantastic--both the manager and the chef stopped by our table to check on us. we didn't get a chance to visit the adjoining lounge, but i will next time i go! and there will definitely be a "next time" very soon!
Good service, TINY portions. This is authentic Italian. The servers are attentive. The atmosphere is pleasant. But if you want tapas-sized portions for a lot of money, look no further. I ordered the pumpkin stuffed pasta, and I was horrified when my plate arrived with NINE pieces of pasta that were 1" L x 1"W. The bowl it was served in was ONE-QUARTER full. For $14? You know pasta doesn't cost much to make. It was truly a rip off. I won't be back.
The NEW Modern Italy. Want great food, awsome service at a cool new L.A hot spot without the high prices? You have to try Cucina Paradiso! I went there on a girls night out and absolutley fell in love with the place. It was a calm and laid back enviroment but still relaxed enough to where you can laugh and have a good time. It liked it so much that i went a week later on a date and it was perfect. It's a great place for both a large group and private meeting. I JUST LOVED IT!
Best dining experience in LA!!. This was truly the best dining experience we've had in LA. The service was outstanding, the food was impeccable and the atmosphere was warm and inviting without the pretense of a lot of other LA restaurants. Our waitress was friendly, very attentive and made excellent menu suggestions. In addition, the manager and the chef himself came to our table to see how everything was. The menu offered a great variety and there were also numerous specials. The pumpkin ravioli with light cream sauce and sage was delicious and the panacotta with berries was a light, creamy dessert that topped off our perfect meal. We plan to visit this restaurant regularly as we love everything about it.
