New Orleans in SF – This is it--the real thing, New Orleans Creole cookin'. If you had a fantastic culinary experience while visiting New Orleans and are wondering where you can have the same experience here--check our Andrew Jaegers! I thought it was a tourist trap place since it is in a the old Condor in North Beach, but I have to say my fellow San Franciscans, it is worth the trip. The food rocks!

Fried Oysters were only thing I liked – We tried the food here last year and my friends thought the food was very good and reminded them of the food they had while visiting New Orleans years ago. I didn't like the gumbo or jambalaya, perhaps it's personal taste as my husband liked the jambalaya. The only dishes I truly enjoyed was the fried oysters and grits. They served water in glasses leftover from when the Condor was a topless entertainment place with molded female body parts on the glasses. It was strange to sit on these really low back seats which would make it difficult to cut your steak. I was told these were probably the seats used for lap dances. There's a jazz band next door, but you can't hear it. The overhead TV screens are very distracting with pictures during the meal.

Thumbs Down – A couple of Gulf Coast aficionados were mightily disappointed to have jambalaya that was all rice, gumbo with no seafood in it, a shrimp appetizer with three shrimp (there are two of us -- come on, part with one more shrimp!), fried catfish that we thought were hush puppies until we finally bit into a piece with a little fish in it, $6 of "entertainment charge" for a band that played one song and took a break for the entire rest of our meal. Two appetizers, two beers, one iced tea -- $61. the motto here seems to be "Screw 'em, they're tourists, they'll never be back."
