Excellent service, amazing massage, great value. – Not sure why the previous review was so negative. I started going to Oriental Retreat & Spa about 4 months ago and have been there for 3 times now. I always had a great experience every time I go there. The spa is not fancy but very nicely decorated and setup. It feels calm, professional, welcoming and relaxing. With the pricing they have, it is a great deal.
The massage and the service were excellent. The people there were very professional, experienced and friendly. I have tried other Chinese massage places around Eastside, this one sure is the best around. The atmosphere, the skill, and services are consistently to be excellent. They treat me like a VIP every time I go there. Their style of massage (called ChiGong massage) is very therapeutic and relaxing. I had a back pain because I work on the computer all day long. After just 2 visit, the pain is 80% better. They really know what they are doing.
Oriental Retreat Spa Rip-OFF! – I was told of this place and decided to drop by.They were having a half off sale of a spa package which was 70.00 that included a 90 min treatment of massage, hand parrafin treatment and a herbal foot soak.
The massage was in a makeshift room with walls that didnt goto the top of ceiling as I could hear everyone in the reception area and the people getting massages next door. I was very irriatated to begin with that as I hear clapping on the backs practically in my room as its an echo effect. My theripists name was Amy and she had the smelliest feet ever! She wear an open back sandal so when ever she came in my area of my head i felt like throwing up! She only did one side of me which was my back and was very hard on me while chopping and slapping my back..I felt beat up and couldnt wait to finish(I shouldve at that time just walked out) So after 30 mins she took me into a dark room with an electric fireplace that was broken with a few lounge type chairs. the herbal dip was just some dirty water and the parrafin wax was applied and i was left alone in the room for like an hour! a few others were also dropped off in there and we all sat in the dimly lit room with the loud reception room echoing in there. I finally am able to leave and I wasnt going to even tip but Amy and some of her co workers suddenly appear by the register and are whispering to each other and the receptionist actually asks me if i want to tip her. i felt on the spot and gave a 3 dollar tip. I will NEVER return as this was the worst treatment and a big rip off EVER!! Tell your friends dont waste their money or time...these people know what they are doing and this was 90 mins of hell!
You will be AMAZED how RELAXED you CAN BE! – 1. No Cameras can see in the rooms. There is one in the hallway between the rooms. The walls are pony walls, but you would have to be 11 feet tall to be seen by the cameras. (Note:if you cannot see the camera, the camera CANNOT see you!)
2. The pony walls do lend to a sometimes stereo experience of CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP. But I found it more funny than anything.
3. With most spa treatments you are SUPPOSED to be left alone, so you can RELAX. So if you think doing a body wrap, paraffin dip, or herbal soak is like the attention of a manicure, or massage, you will be DISAPPOINTED.
4. The staff is does traditional oriental massage and treatments, make sure to communicate any privacy, intensity, or temperature needs you have.
5. Check the website for specials.
6. CON is the pony walls, sometimes you don't want to hear the CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP.
Exceptional service and quality! – I went to Oriental Retreat and Spa with my sister-in-law for a neck and shoulder massage. The masseuses are highly skilled and really work on your muscles; no lazy hands here! The pressure is intense and you will leave feeling as if your muscles have really been manipulated. Look forward to a good sleep later on!
I have returned for several massages and the positive experiences have been consistent. My one complaint would be that sometimes the pressure is a little too intense! But I should have said something; they want you to have a good experience and I'm sure they would have adjusted the intensity had I requested they do so.
I have also enjoyed facials here; the aestheticians take their time and really pamper your skin as well as perform extractions (with only mild discomfort!) if needed. My skin felt incredibly soft and smooth afterwards. The prices are great and I always feel warmly welcomed when I arrive. I agree with other reviewers that they would do well to eliminate the gap between the wall and ceiling but apart from that, this is a great, hidden spot!
Nice couple massage – We went for a couple massage. I got a pregnancy massage et my husband the regular massage. It was really nice. The environment is calm and nice decorated. The staff was really nice. They did everything to make me lay down comfortable. The massage from my husband was maybe not relaxing but it did very well to his body.
As others say it is a pitty that the walls are not going up to the ceiling as you can hear what happens in the next room. But otherwise very nice place, clean and friendly staff.
Not a place to get a bikini wax – I got my first bikini wax here last year. It was dark in the room so I couldn't see how well the job was done. When I went home, I saw that it was neatly done. It did not look good.
The service was mediocre. There could use more smiles in this place.
Unintentionally noisy, service not the best – The place is nicely set up and well decorated. The masseuse I had was very kind and attentive. My reasons for giving it on 3 stars though are for the following reasons:
1. The rooms were very noisy. The setup of the building is like a series of cubicles; none of the walls reach the ceiling so you hear everything that's going on during your service.
2. There are ceiling cameras that can see over the walls into the rooms. I really don't feel comfortable changing in front of a video camera -- I hugged the door and changed carefully.
3. While my masseuse was attentive, the other staff was not. I had paid for a full package and towards the end it appeared that I was not going to get one of my services. I can understand this -- sometimes there are miscommunications. But the lady I mentioned this to gave me the service (parafin wax), then left me with bags over my hands. And left me. And left me. I finally scrapped the wax off myself and left the bags behind, and went and changed.
I went during the week so they weren't busy; there was no excuse for the inattention. That may have been a fluke though -- the real deal breakers for me are the noise and the cameras. I won't be returning to a private spa that isn't private at all.
My best Spa experience ! – I went to this spa because my friend told me that they have a Spa Week special. I went there on Friday late afternoon. They were very busy. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. Then I was lead to a very clean and comfortable room. The massage was incredible. They use some kind of Chinese massage technique. I normally getting massage every month in couple other places but I have never had a massage that made me feel so good. Couple things that I observed while I was there. First, this is a very popular Spa. A lot of people booking their next schedules as they checking out. Second, although they were very busy, but it is very well managed. It is clean, calm, quite and very pleasant. Even though they were busy, but they were right on time with their service. I did not have to wait at all.
It was best spa experience I have ever had.
A "Spa Week" Letdown! – On Friday, 9/22, I went to the Oriental Retreat & Spa in Kirkland for the first time to participate in a $50 "Spa Week" treatment. Having discovered The Sun Spa in Woodinville through Spa Week, I was expecting only the best -- instead, I was subjected to a long wait (I arrived early for my 5 pm appointment and had to wait 20 minutes for my "room" to be ready), I noticed that the massage table was covered in little black hairs (from where, I'm not sure...eek), and that my therapist was rather brusque. I do not recommend this spa; there's no privacy or sense of "retreat" because each treatment room is merely a cubicle where you can hear what's going on throughout the rest of the spa, the facility was not very clean, and overall, it felt like a very makeshift operation. I'll stick with THE SUN SPA from now on!
Ultimate luxury Experience!! – I brought my sister to your spa the day after Christmas for a Ultimate Spa Experience which include 5 hours spa treatments. It was her first visit to Seattle from England, and the VERY first time she had had any type of spa treatment, not even a manicure! Can I just tell you from my sister how utterly fantastic a time she had. She left the salon feeling like a new person and had never experienced such luxury, rejuvenation and pampering. She thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and was sad only when it was over. She thought everyone did an amazing job on her from head to foot. Her facial lasted for days and the massage opened up her chest and helped her to breathe much better. She is eagerly awaiting her next trip to Seattle so that she can repeat the experience. The decor of the spa was beautiful to walk into and so clean and welcoming. The staff were non-intrusive and she was completely relaxed. It was an amazing experience for her and she thanks and congratulates every member of the staff. I"ll come to get my own treatment sometime.
