Super fun place! – This is a great bar in Wicker Park. I've been here a few times and there's always friendly bartenders that pour strong and great people watching. It gets really busy on the weekends, so if you're looking for a crowded bar to scope out and some shots, I'd def recommend it.
Too much money – The only good thing is the location the drinks are high and the experience sucks I will not come back again
Horrible for Adults – I couldn't believe it - 4 people in my group of 20 were admitted with hats and long white t-shirts. One loner from my group was refused entry until he tucked in his collared shirt.
The whole party closed our tabs and departed the place after the loner was harassed senselessly by the door staff until we all said enough! We went around the corner to a more inviting and mature environment where the owners bought us free shots all night and asked us to please come back (name withheld, but walk North down Damen a few doors - East side of street!!). That made out for a good night after all.
Don't waste your time at Wicker Park tavern unless you enjoy seeing patron after patron refused entry and/or ejected because the door staff "does not like you".
I love this place!! (before 10pm) – Want a good place to drink after work or before meeting some friends for dinner? This is your place. Good drinks, good space, and more tvs than you'll ever need. Also their $1 burger (all day every day with the purchase of beer) is one of the best deals around. Fairly sized cheeseburger comes with fries, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle. Great deal.
But what is best about this place is the people watching. At the busy north avenue and milwaukee intersection, you get a convergence of pretentious hipsters, dressed up yuppie wannabes, homeless millefloria, and myriad other wonderfully eye catching freaks of nature. Especially during the summer when they keep the door-sized windows open all around the bar. It's truly great.
While not the goldmine it used to be, still a good "bar's bar" – I had a nice streak going at this place. Maybe 4 or 5 visits in a row where I took someone home or went home with them. Bar is a decent size, and there is lots of bar area to which you can order from. Ther are some tables to sit down at and even a couch in the back. Bathrooms (guys, and girls *cough) are pretty nice. Age range is probably 25-33 - not too many college kids, which is good. Bartenders work hard, are friendly and pour good drinks. People are pretty good looking generally, although the last few times I've been there it had been a complete sausage fest - I would wait a good two months or so before going back there. People aren't as trashy as the CANS crowd. There is also some random black guy who, for whatever reason, insists on dancing on top of the speaker whenever he's there - very out of place, and NObody pays any attention to him, but oh well. Good place overall.
Wicker Parkers end or begin their nights out at this late-night bar anchored at Chicago's hippest intersection. – In Short
Other than a beautiful arched back bar, the tavern's no-frills decor opts for maximum standing room and minimum seating, a space waiting to be filled by the on the prowl and already buzzed post-2am crowd. A seat at one of the high tops along the floor-to-celing windows guarantees great people-watching both inside the bar and out. Among the 12 draft choices are Stella Artois, Hacker Pschorr and Newcastle Brown Ale.
