Jimmy Hammer and David The Voice Stein were great – Did not see Sal perform but who needs it when you have David The VOice Stein and Jimmy HAmmer Rocking the joint down. Wish the show was longer
Worst comedy – I thought I was going to a comedy club. Maybe these guys should take a class on how to write a joke, or just steal some jokes because this was the worst show I've ever scene. Sal - maybe you should just be a bartender...
Bad ending? – At the very beginning of the night a girlfriend of mine, visiting from out of town, and me were lightly heckled at the front door to come and ?Join in the fun? at Sal?s. We made light banter letting the guy at the door, Winston or Lipton I think that is his last name-he had dark curly long hair and no it wasn't Sal, know that we had already made reservations to see the Saturday show at 8 PM. Hey, we were going to a live comedy show, which of course was not my first so everything is all in good fun when it comes to banter. Or?that is what I thought.
The last one to do his stand up routine was surprisingly the greeter at the front door (he liked to joke about himself as ?tea bag? on stage) was not too kind to people participating in his questions. I guess we threw him off saying that my friend had a worse last name than he did. After we responded to that question he quickly ending his newly debut and left the stage. And before you wonder yes he asked the audience and no we did not heckle. When we left the comedy club we stopped off and told Winston/Lipton that he was great and that he shouldn?t have taken offense to our banter and to have a good night. He answered us by calling my friend a ?c*nt? which was incredibly rude and down right unnecessary. We left that place feeling very offended and confused by his low self-esteem when it came to responding to his own heckling. Uh?last I checked we were in a comedy club and he was the one that put us on the spot to begin with. Please, don?t get me wrong because I always enjoy a good laugh but at this very evening I, nor did my good friend, find the ending of our evening at Sal?s humorous.
Thanx Sal – Last nights show was great, i would definatly go again, Ted Alexandro live was even better than on tv. Sal was cool too he even got us drinks after the show. thanx Sal!
Best comedy – Sals Comedy Hole was Awesome ! Went there about a month ago and had a blast. Greer Barnes made me laugh so hard I cryed and Sal's energy kept us on the edge of our seats. He does this one joke where his spills water all over himself Ive never seen any thing so funny You gotta see it for your self! My boyfriend and I have already made plans to go back next week!!
Overpriced and not funny! – Out of the 6 or so comics who came on tonight, only 1 was mildly funny. There's a reason for drink minimums - no one would be laughing on their own accord unless they were drunk. The performers lacked energy and all of their jokes were the run-of-the-mill perverted immature cracks that only cavemen who'd never seen a single comedy special on TV would find funny. Avoid this place, go somewhere else in NYC! The overpriced drinks are to be expected, but the dearth of laughs was not acceptable.
Always a great time – First time here was during the transit strike, needless to say it wasn't packed (also a weeknight). But went back on a weekend and the show is hilarious. Especially Sal puts on a great show. Service is good too and the comics are friendly without taking too many shots at the audience.
Editorial Review – Greenwich Village comedy spot hosts local acts nightly and serves southern Italian fare, plus open mic nights for amateurs.
