Hmmm... – Let me start off by saying that I had been here previously during late afternoon hours and had a good experience. The food was pretty good, and the margaritas were too, as well as the service. I actually recommended it to friends. That visit was about a year and a half ago.
However, my boyfriend and I decided to go last weekend because he had never been there and our original dinner plans fell through. So we arrived around 6-ish on a Saturday night. I didn't know that they used valets at night, must have missed that one, but when we arrived there were a couple of parking spots open (with no road cone markers in them) and there were 3-4 guys outside to the edge of the parking lot by the other little outbuilding on the property, they were talking amongst themselves and did not flag us down or anything so we pulled into a parking space, backed out a little and pulled in to straighten the car, and were about to get out when one of them walks up to the car. His exact words were, "I don't mean to be an a$$hole but when we're here, we own the parking lot and I can't let you park here because it would be a liability for us, but you can just go ahead and give me your keys or you can go down the street and park and walk." This kid was a little arrogant and snotish about it. Not what I was expecting. My boyfriend basically smiled and said "well I guess we don't want to eat here" and we left. Needless to say, we went elsewhere and had a great time but I was really pi$$ed at first because I had been wanting to go back for a while and I don't live in that area so it's hard to get there, but after I came home and we started reading other reviews stating that the food and service has suffered significantly over the last year or so, I actually felt better about not going and spending our hard earned money there. I have worked in the service industry for many years, and I was appalled at how that valet kid acted with that ginormous chip on his shoulder. There are many, many restaurants in the area that have great food and great service and I would rather give them the business, than to give my business to an establishment that doesn't care that it is presenting an image to customers that it's a privilege to be there.
whats with all the hype – Well I gave this place a shot even after reading the reviews on city search. And the bad reviews were pretty accurate, food is not all that great, service is slack at best, prices were a little high for the quality I would expect from all the hype. I have found a better spot in the Roswell area, Rojo Taqueria. It has much better service and the drinks arre inexpensive and strooong to say the least. I would recommend anyone wanting great food and service and is in the area to stop by and enjoy yourself. Football on the weekends, trivia on thursday and just a good time everyday. Check out their website at rojotaqueriacom See you there
The worst meal I've had all year. Seriously. – My direct quote after eating here: "I wish I could throw that up." It was our first time eating here. Cute place, decent margaritas and the guac was good. I ordered their fish tacos AKA the worst fish tacos I have ever tasted. They were completely bland, not special at all and the fish was pretty awful. The meal was way over-priced for the quality of food we received. Try out Ceviche in Roswell instead for truly creative Mexican.
This Place is Way Overated – Other than being in a convenient location, I was very disappointed with the quality of service I received during my first experience in this taqueria. I would compare this place with the unfriendly service that I receive when I have gone to Twisted Taco. The service was poor, the drink I had did not taste right, and my food came out cold. The atmosphere is not very friendly. I recommend the Taqueria on Holcombe Bridge Rd. called Rojo's. Their food, drinks, and friendly service is very consistant.
Best Mexican in atl – This restaurant is unequivocally the best Mexican in Atlanta. The couple who own pure are both chefs and i've been going there for three years. It is the only restaurant I'll drive to Alpharetta to go to. The food is fresh, great quality and the flavors are original and fantastic! Oh, try the crab fritters, gorditas, fish tacos and sopes And the flan!!
Worst food – Went there with a group of people from work. Worst Mexican food on earth. The cheese dip was the only decent thing, but then again, how hard is it to screw up melted cheese. I will never go back there. If you want good Mexican food go to Tampico on Haines Bridge Road
Once a filling station, Pure Taqueria adds gas to Alpharetta's casual dining scene. – In Short
Simple decor-laminate tables, chrome accents and an open kitchen-create a bustling atmosphere. Youthful servers deliver orange-kissed margaritas and mojitos which are paired with Mexican dishes, such as a hamburger topped with avocado, pickled jalapenos and queso Chihuahua. Menu highlights include lightly battered tilapia tacos with poblano slaw and posole, stewed pork with hominy, green chile and cilantro. For dessert, the buttermilk flan seved with diced strawberries is a light and refreshing choice.
Awful service..Spilled drink..no remorse - absolutely awful! – Drive almost 40 miles to have lunch here with my son. Have been to Pure before and service was decent. Sunday afternoon was different. Young waitress mixed up our drinks - then proceeded to spill a can of coke completely into my son's lap - soaked his shorts and shirt (had an Iphone in his shorts pocket)..Half-hearted apology and gave him napkins to wipe up.
We could have lived with that. Until the waitress apparently started telling the other waitstaff what had happened, and they found it funny. Several hispanic waiters started laughing and pointing at my son as I was on the way to the restroom, at which point I stopped and asked them if they thought someone being doused in a drink was funny. They just looked at me with a blank expression and just sort of "shrugged."
We informed the waitress we were leaving (without ordering a meal) and on the way out I did tell the manager what had happened. The fact that the staff thought it was funny was what bothered me the most.
The manager said she "would speak with them" after I pointed out the individuals who apparently had a laught at my son's expense.
She then turned and walked away from me and let us walk out the door with nothing more than "sorry."
Bad experience and I will not be back.
Amazingly Fresh Food and Upbeat Atmosphere – Sounds like Mr. Poopy Pants needs to grow up. I agree that the owner should have been more sympathetic and genuinely concerned (FYI Pure Owner: consulting upset customers is the way to keep their business) but he/she should have asked for a refund or requested just-compensation. People can get sick at any restaurant, so that does not justify trashing an awesomely consistent dinning experience. The corn tacos are always filled with fresh fish and the varieties of salsa gives reason to my Chips & Salsa obsession. This is one of my family favs and the colorful ambiance creates an upbeat experience. Parking can be annoying, but valley is available at dinner. Needless to say?a little walk will do you good after overindulging in excellence. YUM!
Violently ill – One phrase: Got violently ill after eating here. Yes, I ate at this establishment and within 1-2 hours I started to feel very awkward and uneasy. This was the only meal I ate (it was lunch time). I experienced severe diareah and throwing up the day of, and then 48 hours after, still experienced cramping, headache, and overall sickness. I contacted the manager of the restaurant and she immediately denied that this could have been her food, because "she has been open for over 2 years". I asked her at a minimum for a refund of the meal I paid for and she advised that she would have to look into it and call me back the next day. Still no phone call. Also, she'd had to confirm if "anyone else" called in and said they got sick. So, the message to me was that if nobody else called in to say they too got sick, then I was just sh** out of luck. Needless to say, I will NEVER eat there, nor recommend the place, and will be sure to let others know my horrible customer service experience and illness experience. I will also be filing a complaint with the Health Dept.
