I would love to see this Pub grow – Good service, good food. I want to see this pub grow bigger.
It is your basic pub grub, but has style.
It is great for after Bear Games and a quick get lunch.
Please support Krolls.
Great place to have a group get together... – I have been here 2 times and both times were great! I went with my brother and a group of his friends and we stayed for about 5 hours. The staff took great care of us and we never felt rushed. The member of our group who brought us there was looking for a sandwich that she thought the place still had that was discontinued. They made a new version for her and we took pictures of the result. It wasn't perfect, but it was good. I came back with a date for the food and she said it was a great place too. I will recommend this place to friends and family.
Leave This Place Immediately – If you don't mind unprofessional, apathetic service this place is for you. This is the most mismanaged eating/drinking establishment I have encountered in many years. The owners are non-existent as is any hint of professionalism. The entire staff requires guidance that is simply not provided. They truly could care less if you patronize them or not so stay away!
SOLUTION: go to WEATHERMARK TAVERN or GRACE O'MALLEY'S 2 1/2 blocks south or WABASH TAP on Wabash/Roosevelt. I am willing to bet that you will never step foot in Kroll's again if you try any of the 3 recommendations above. Until Kroll's finds a new owner & staff DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR $$$ HERE!!!
Good atmosphere and service. Great Food! – I'd been into Kroll's a few times before and was pleased to find some new options on the menu on my last visit. I was suprised I had such a tought time making a decision on what to order...it not your regular bar fare anymore. I had the pasta with veggies and goat cheese and it was delicious and my husband had a salmon and halibut dish. We will definitely go back again soon. Good atmosphere and the service was great.
VARIETY AND VALUE – It was nice to find a South Michigan restaurant that offers a good variety of food choices without overcharging. Being a fish lover it was a no brainer for me to order the salmon and halibut darne which was cleverly called Yin and Yang. Nothing left on the plate once I was through. This was an entree I hadn't seen on the menu in my previous visit and I hope it remains.
The worst in South Loop – Buyer Beware! Our service from the bartender was terrible at best! The food came out fast and was hot but, was below average..Of note were the potato tots..they were good, if you dipped them with enough Mustard...When we brought these concerns to the manager we were told they did not care...bussines was good!!!..We were asked to pay and leave! We gladly did! we will not be back! The other peoeple who rated this as a 4.5 star restaurant must never have been to a 4.5 star restaurant. In my opinion this appears to be an overly hyped up burger joint . the clients I brought were NOT impressed. I was completley embarresed.
An Excellent Place to Catch the Game in HD – As an avid sports fan and a lover of high definition technology, I am often dissappointed with sports bars that have terrible picture quality running on their big screens and flat panels. Fortunately, this is not the case here. Kroll's front projector is perfectly set for catching the game in larger-than-life fashion. The room lighting is set dimly, allowing the screen image to jump out into the room, and the big games are projected in true High Definition, fully displaying every detail with prisitine clarity. Those of you that have HD at home will know the difference between of HD vs. non-HD, and will truly appreciate seeing the quality here. The seating layout in front of the screen is well thought out with comfortable, loungy chairs that are outfitted with rollers, lending maneuverability around the table to always have the right view. Flat panels are scattered strategically around the bar and dining area to offer additional viewpoints and programming. The space is very expansive with seating in & around the bar area and a neighboring dining room with big booths and a relatively quieter experience. However, if you want to be fully immersed in the action, a spot in front of the giant screen in the main room is the place to be. They'll be hard to score during game nights, so it'll be worth getting there early to secure a spot.
Just what the South Loop needed – At last.... a sports bar. As a resident of the south loop and a huge sports fan, It felt like there was a void in the neighborhood. Yes, the south loop club is up at 701 s state, but for those of us near Roosevelt down to Cermak, not very convenient. I have beed here 5 times and the food is great. from the Fried wisconsin cheese curds to the burgers and wings. Yummy. The only downside to the place is they seem to have no ventilation in the bar area. I am not a smoker and I know what to expect at a bar, but after dinner there I come home feeling like I smoked a whole pack myself. I had one waitress who was woeful, but all in all, they are very good and knowledgeable.
I cannot wait until they get the NFL package for next year!
