Great place in Hollywood – I loved it !!!...Great food, I had the chicken stroganoff with sweet potato fries, OMG, absolutely fantastic, how can u say no substance, did you actually try it!!?? and the Mint Lemonade, best creation ever....sooooo refreshing, great atmosphere, very cool and polite employees...
This is a great coffee house with great food, and on top of that you can use the free wifi while enjoying a glass of wine...very nice touch.
Hope this is helpful and you can always go and try it yourself...very busy so try going between 3 and 5 or after 7, when i think they have waitress , but I'm not sure.
style over substance – Surrounded by wannabe actors and writers, you may enjoy or rather not enjoy your bland tasting crepe and wonder "did the chef add salt to my dish? or any seasoning for that matter? why does my chicken taste like kerosine? why does this tropical ice tea taste like L.A. sewage?" - those thoughts might cross your mind, should you be lucky enough to find parking nearby this busy street/semi-highway neighboring cafe and dine here. BLAND FOOD!
Savory crepes struggle – I've only eaten crepes here, but they've missed for me on many occasions. The savories' recipes are well-conceived, but usually overstuffed. For me they don't come together as a dish, but instead taste like all their separate ingredients piled together. Their sweet crepes are simpler, which works better, and their coffee is pretty good, the space is nice and chill, but I'm running out of reasons to come back.
great service, lame crowd – I love this place because really good, friendly people work here. (I keep hearing the boss is maniacal.) I'm an editor and researcher and this shop conveniently is walking distance from work. Otherwise I would never come here. The so-called "bohemian" atmosphere is rivaled by hollywood egomaniacs, people working in entertainment who want everyone around them to know. Granted customers come in wearing "bohemian" outfits. But this place is often very "clique-ish," visibly and audibly so. Not very bohemian at all. I would recommend the cafe for work, or meeting others in "the bizz" who pretend they're low-key. But if you're really pro-bohemian, whatever that means, or at least down to earth, this place probably won't do much for you. Coffee, I've had better. Great food.
Best coffee anywhere! – I am a regular customer and am consistently pleased.
Best espresso in town and friendly service. Solar is the place in hollywood to grab a bite to eat and meet up with friends. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good consistent food and great coffee!
Fantastic place to lounge with friends for lunch or late night cravings, good croud and friendly staff. – This place used to be my second home as I studied there all the time for my pharmacy board exam. The ambience is great, the place is cozy and the staff are friendly. They have awsome food there (salmon sandwich and the pear crepe are my favorites). Unlike many other places in the area, although small they have a parking area in the back if you want to park your car yourself. Having that said, I really dislike their coffee drinks and for that reason I go somewhere else if I just crave a nice cup of cappuccino or espresso. The espresso has no aroma and the lattes taste awful. Other than that, it?s just a great place to hang out.
I love, love, LOVE this place! – I used to live around the corner from it so I was there ALL the time, either meeting friends for coffee or using their wireless internet. I'm a writer so it was a great place to relax. It was my home away from home. The ambiance is the best part. Sometimes it can get warm in there on a hot day. The coffee/lattes are delicious! The crepes are good too, not that filling though... I've had them as dessert before. I love the sandwiches, yummy fries but I usually get the fruit bowl instead. The soup's good too. I'm not a big fan of the salads though.
I wouldn't recommend it as a family dining place. It's more like a local hangout coffee shop, where most people are regulars... either going there by themself or with one other person. A lot of people in the film industry go there, a couple celebrities too ;)
I love the service, they are all so nice, and really do look out for you, and ALWAYS mean well.
The parking can be a problem on the weekends, and it gets really busy on the weekends too (so I usually avoid going there on the weekends).
All in all, I LOVE this place! Shhh - keep it a secret ;)
The BEST caramel latte! – I've benn dying to try this place for a while, since I live in the neighborhood - and I was not disappointed! Met a friend there for breakfast and ordered a Caramel latte to start. It was the BEST latte I have ever had - and I've had a lot, all over the world. It was smooth and sweet, I didn't have to add anything to it at all. I ordered the Energy crepes, with strawberries and my friend ordered the Canneloni crepes - delicious! The atmosphere is cool, like that coffee shop in "Friends", only better. To top it off, the menu, with its wide variety, is not expensive - as long as you've got $10 in your pocket or purse, you've got coffee and a meal. The staff was friendly and very accomodating too! Will definitely be spending more time here...I plan on becoming a regular!
Great Breakfast all day! – My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time today - and we were both pretty impressed. He never ventures much past his egg and bacon breakfast, but did today with the Campestre crepe and really enjoyed it. I decided to try the highly suggested Sunny Path crepe and stuffed myself silly. It was so good I couldn't stop. I loved the mocha latte, the cute little patio and the people watching too. Everyone was really friendly - so much so that one of the patrons yelled out that the owner of a vehicle parked outside was about to get a ticket - completely saving the man getting a write up just in time. I've never seen anything like it in LA. A great change from the norm. I highly suggest it.
