yes please! – I enjoy their food here. Lots of mouth watering flavor and I like the super fast way they get the food out to you, without feeling hurried. More accurately, I think I should say that the food comes out in successions, at the perfect timing.
Green Chile...No thanks! – This place looked promising, tasteful decor and with a more natural take on Westernised Mexican cuisine.
Don't be fooled !! The food is bland and uninspiring. The green chile salsa on the chicken burrito was watery and lacked any bite or flavour. The chicken, wow it's been roasted and is natural, that does not make up for it being dry ,bland and lacking in seasoning, let alone a marinade !
Hint : Chicken breast is a low in fat and dries out easily as well as being mild in flavour. It needs work !

We will NEVER go back! – We recently ate lunch at Green Chile Kitchen. The food was ordinary, at best. The emphasis is on natural food, but it?s lacking in flavor ? plus, it took ages for our food to arrive.
After leaving the restaurant, we realized that we had left our camera on the table. We went back 10 minutes later, but the camera was nowhere to be found. The staff was not helpful or sympathetic ? they even went so far as to suggest that we dropped it on the way to our car (which was parked directly across the street). Who knows ? our camera could have been stolen by a staff member or it could have been stolen by another patron of the restaurant (we were there in the mid-afternoon - not a busy time). Regardless, this event made an ordinary experience a very disappointing one.
We will NEVER go back.

try the Hot Green chile is delicious,and the chicken is fingerlicking good that makes you go back over and over...
New Mexico feel & new type of Mexican - yum! – If you know where Hatch, New Mexico is - then you will like this place. A fresh take on the tired beans, rice and cheese with everything tex-mex or "authentic" mexican food that balnkets this city. While there are great places for the ultimate burrito or real Yucatan food, this clean cozy place takes a path that other restaurants have missed. Smoking good green chile dishes, high celings with clean lines and comfy surrounding with a few boothes. The presentation is the clincher to very tasty dishes. Staff is friendly and helpful. Yes you lazy "wanted to be waited on hand and foot" people - you have to stand in line to order. This set-up means that the staff is concentrating on the food - which arrives in a flash. A great beer selection and a surprisingly good wine list takes this place up another notch. Rumor has it that the breakfast menu - until noon M-F and 2pm S-S - has a big following. We will be back!
Good Red Chile but no sopapillas. – I'm a visiting out-of-towner who grew up in Santa Fe, so when I read there was a New Mexican restaurant here I had to try it out. I was surprised it was a counter service restaurant and not table service, but that was OK. Lots of seating for the amount of customers. As a true New Mexican restaurant though there are some menu items that are musts: Red Chile (check), green chile (check), sopapillas (nope), enchiladas (check, and a good NM restaurant offers flat enchiladas (check)), blue corn tortillas (check), egg on top of the enchilada (nope), posole (check). I found the red chile to be very smooth and perhaps even a touch spicier then that in Santa Fe. However, the lack of sopapillas is mind-boggling. For those of you unfamiliar with sopapillas they are the NM version of a fried dough product (think about it, every culture has one). It is a square piece of fried dough about 4 inches by 4 inches and when fried puffs up like a pillow. Proper way of eating is to tear off a corner and poor honey into the pillow. YUM!
So food presented was good, the only problem is that which is missing. If you ever get to Chicago, try Zia's New Mexican restaurant (better food and yes, they have sopapillas!)
good food...but not as authentic as i'd like. – i was incredibly excited to hear about a new mexican restuarant opening in the city....i'd been complaining about how terrible california mexican cuisine is ever since i moved here from NM. i'd been surviving off frozen chile in my freezer from my favorite restuarant in santa fe....but i'm a terrible cook. finally, a place to get green chile!
the good: the red and green chile sauces are good. the green chile stew is nice and spicy, and the pesole is excellent. they also just added chicken enchiladas to the menu which is nice, they're served caserole style which is good, but i do still crave regular rolled enchiladas at times. also, blue sky soda! mmm....
the bad: the burritos are made california style. in new mexico the burritos are much smaller, the tortillas are grilled instead of steamed, and there is nothing in them other than beans, meat, cheese, and chile. this is how an authentic new mexican burrito should be. i was really excited to get a burrito there until i saw that they included rice and salsa and a whole bunch of other random stuff (how many times do i have to say it? rice does not belong in burritos!!!). but the main problem is the tortillas, the burritos would be much better if they just grilled them.
my other gripes are the lack of sopapillas (so good!!!) and frito pies (new mexico's comfort food).
Do not eat here – The staff are very unfriendly and haven't heard of the term "customer service". They didn't put my burrito in a bag and failed to give me any chips and salsa (I didn't realize that until I was already gone). They made it VERY clear I'd be charged for the extra cheese, God forbid, and the burrito was far from fabulous. Very highly NOT recommended.
Refreshingly Authentic but... – As a native New Mexican I crave a NM chile fix and was so excited to discover the Green Chile Kitchen. The food is excellent and prices are great. Selection of native New Mexcian products such as Blue Sky soda was quite a surprise. The only complaint that I have that was not native to the New Mexican tradition was the customer service, or lack there of. Neither of the two staff members were freindly or welcoming, which was very discouraging since I had been so looking forward to my visit. What happen to "Beinvenidos."
