Cheap sandwiches, not the best service. I used to work about a block from here, and when feeling hungry (which is always) and lazy (also always), I would walk down to Cafico to order a sandwich. If you go between 11:30am and 1pm, you'll see a loooooong line of Civic Center workers, all queued up for their sandwiches. So, the ladies behind the counter do have to work quite briskly, and they do. But be warned: If you try to make a substitution, they will get it wrong every time. So you want the Italian panini with no ham? Check. Get back to the office, unwrap your sandwich, and you'll find a big, fat, greasy ham sandwich. Want mayo but no mustard? Um, sure. Settle down in your cubicle, unwrap your order, and find that they put half a jar of mustard on your sandwich, but no mayo. Now, these may seem like petty complaints (so I'm petty? So what?!), but it's seriously annoying when I'm ravenously hungry and I get a sandwich that's the exact opposite of what I ordered. And this happened to me over and over again -- to the point where I'd actually check my sandwich before leaving the place to make sure they got it right. So, go here for a quick and cheap lunch, but either order something off the board or check your sandwich before leaving.
Vinaigraitte please. Sheesh, whoever heard of a glob of mayo being considered a vinaigraitte dressing for a garden salad? I tried to eat it, added the mayo to the salad and shook the plastic container to within an inch of its life. Unimpressed, it simply settled into a smeared layer on top and the lettuce, carrots, cucumber and cabbage were not at all improved by the flavor of it.
User review by jennyb123. They have wonderful croissants. Fluffy and always fresh. The girls there are really nice and remember me by my name.
