Worst Service – We had a party of 10 people and we had made reservations, we arrived at 7 pm and were seated and ordered our drinks and appetizers. Almost 30 minutes passed before we got our drinks or the appetizer and we had to ask the waitress that DIDN'T seat us to see what was the hold-up. We finally were able to order our main course at around 9 pm and then it took another hour before we got that!!! The waitress acted as if she had an attitude whenever we asked why it was taking so long on our order. We never got refills on our drinks either! When our bills finally came, they were all wrong. Some of the bills had things on them that weren't even ordered! The service was horrible!!! And why must there be a $10 charge to get in when you are coming in to dine? The food is already pricey!!
Worst Service Ever – It was 18 of us and we came out on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. We had reservations, so they knew that it would be a large party. We were seated at 9:00. Our drink and food orders were taken around 9:30. We got our drinks around 10:00. Refills were few and far between, because our waitress never came back to offer refills, we would have to call her for a refill and finally we just got up and got the pitcher of tea and water that was sitting on a nearby table. Our food started slowly coming out at 11:00 and I do mean slowly. The waitress was confused as to who ordered what and I don't know why because she supposedly wrote the orders down. At 12:00, two people still hadn't received their food. When I complained and asked to speak with the manager, the waitress replied and said I already told him that this party was upset, but he's in the back cooking the food, so he can't come out right now. Then the checks were not accurate. Some people just paid anyway because they were tired of waiting on the manager to come out of the kitchen to resolve the issue. Some tickets had items that were not ordered. My husband and I waited for the manager. Our bill came to $33 and he gave us a $9 discount after going back and forth about the terrible service. I advised him that everyone in our party received bad service and at this point 2 people STILL hadn't received their food. The manager replies by saying he would check on those 2 orders (it's now 12:30 am) and for the people who already paid their bill, he couldn't do anything for them because the bill was paid. Needless to say, the food was good, minus the overcooked burgers. Zydeco's has the potential to be a nice restaurant/lounge if they hire more cooks and waitstaff and they definitely need improvement with their customer service skills.
Excellent food, it's getting better!! – Two of my good girlfriends and I visited on a Saturday. This is my 2nd visit but it was there first time visiting. The last time I visited was in October of 2008. Our server was very nasty and the food came out very slow. There was also an older lady at the door which was very rude. Needless to say I have not been back in since. My friends wanted to hear some live music so I brought them to listen to the live music. The music and atmosphere was wonderful. The only thing bad I can say is that the same grouchy lady is at the door. I do not believe that they need to charge $10 to come in if you are dining. The food is already pricey enough. On the other hand, the young lady who served us was wonderful. Her personality was just as beautiful as she is. She was very warm, pleasant, and funny. Even though the food took a little long , the food was delicious. I would definately come back.
Cooks are slow, but food is good! – I've heard great things about Zydeco. When I found a coupon online for Zydeco, I figured we'd definitely have to give it a whirl! Since it was a Monday and I had no interest in cooking, I decided that Daryl could buy me dinner. But, I had a $25 off coupon, so he was getting off easy. :)
First, let me start with saying that this is a smoke-free restaurant and has a great atmosphere! If you go to their website, you'll hear R&B music welcoming you to Zydeco. I'm not a big fan of R&B, but I really like that they wrote a song all about their restaurant. Zydeco is owned by Patriots defensive back, Antwan Harris who is a Raleigh native.
We ordered the Bourbon Street Shrimp to start off the meal. It was basically four large pieces of shrimp wrapped in bacon and fried. You know what they say, everything is better with bacon. :) Actually, it tasted like friend shrimp and bacon. The only thing special about this appetizer, was how "special" I felt after paying $11 for four pieces of shrimp.
On to the dinners....Daryl ordered the Shrimp and Grits ($16). Daryl orders Shrimp and Grits at almost every restaurant we go to because he's always looking for the perfect taste and portion. I believe he found it at Zydeco! The Shrimp and Grits portion is really large as far as Shrimp and Grits go. The tasso ham gravy is spread all around the cheddar grits. There are probably 8-10 pieces of shrimp throughout the dish. Daryl used a spoon to scrape the bowl when he was finished, so I'm thinking he liked it. :)
I ordered the Zydeco Ribs Half R@ck ($14) with grandma's famous sauce. The meal came with two sides, so I got the the mac and cheese and the lynonaise potatoes. Grandma's famous sauce was nothing to write home about, but the ribs were very meaty and delicious. The mac and cheese was perfect! I wasn't a fan of the lynonaise potatoes; however, I'm not a big potato eater.
Our waiter was excellent, but the food came out very slowly. The atmosphere/decor was great! I especially like the skylights in the restaurant where the light poured down over the bar and the larger table in the back of the restaurant.
I'd definitely go back!
Incredible Experience despite other reviews – I went Saturday evening July 18th. Our waitress was funny and yet efficient. The food was delicious to say the least especially the cheesecake! (which is not on the menu by the way). Our party of 14 all had a great time! I was getting worried by looking at other reviews as well but was glad that my experience their was unlike the others. The band playing was Marcus Anderson- and they were so unbelievable!
I will be going back very soon!
Outstanding – We were celebrating my husband's birthday w/some friends. This was our first time. Our waitress (Robin) was terrific, she gave us the best service and offered us wonderful meal suggestions. The food was GREAT. We almost missed out on a wonderful evening because of the other reviews. I'm glad we went and will be going again.
Naughty Service – On 3/28/09 I enter this business that was recommend by several business members in the RTP area, and I recieve the worst service ever.. This young lady came to greet our table, and the first thing she mention is that she is the head waitress, and she will be taking care of us, but instead she was standing around chating, and doing whatever. My husband mention that something is really odd about this business. When dining at other establishment.. you never hear that when you first enter place of business. The food was ok, but very salty, and really spicey.. so cooks please ease up on that.... please STOP putting your finger in your mouth when you are working from an open window. Just remember that sanitation is everything..
bring things back – i have been in and out of zydeco latley and i have come to realize that the business is not the same anymore. i was very disappointed to find out that the very nice lady that use to be there is no longer there. whatever the case may have been. she was a very nice lady and she had things in line from what i saw. i really dont even want to come in there anymore b/c this new girl they got does not know what she is doing. see alot of peope talk around zydeco and i heard that she is suppose to be this perfect trainer from other resturants and stuff and i looked it up b/c thats my job ttle and she is nothing and i have talked to a few of the waitress staff and they say she does not know what she is doing. the place is a mess the owner needs to hire someone else b/c i have also noticed how his business is not the same anymore as well. its just a mess in there the bathrooms are ALWAYS DIRTY and i cant tell if the floors have EVER been mopped. its just NASTY..... i was also in there this past weekend and i know you cant control everything but i think the situation that happen should have been handled better than it was. and one more thing you have a nice business i think that you should have better looking women with better attitudes at the door. because one of the women up there looks at HOT UNPROFESSIONAL MESS. hopefully you will approve this so your business will approve
INFORMATION – I would love to get in your website to see what it is about. I have many of my friend talking about this place. I was planning something special for my boyfriend, so I need all the activities that will be going on. This will be the first time knowing this place. so please make it happen for me, so I can have a good time too.
always use cash here – my review will not be long and drawn out. i suggest if you plan to eat or drink at this establishment make sure you dont let them get hold of your credit card. i was double charged still have not spoken with owner tried to resolv e through owner has nt happen yet if care about your money use cash
