Worst Indian Food I've Ever Ate! – I went to Woodlands this past Sunday with my family. We went inside and my first impression was not good. While the staff was friendly and helpful, most of their clothes weren't very clean and neither was the restaurant inside. I got the hole-in-a-wall feeling right off!

Also, the waiter recommended the buffet (I usually pass on any restaurant buffet, but this is Indian food - how can you mess this up?).

So I make my plate and come back and start trying everything. I'll tell you to be short, 90% of it was horrible! It definitely wasn't fresh, nearly tasted like leftovers from the week that they pawn off at the buffet.

The water, pass on it. TN drinking water doesn't taste good and this stuff is not filtered - right out of the tap! Yuck! Now if you're used to tap water and never drink filtered or distilled, you won't know the difference. lol

My wife is from California and is very well seasoned in Indian food (and Vegan and Vegetarian food) and she also rated this as some of the worst tasting Indian food she has ever eaten.

So, avoid this place if you have a pallet and a love for good Indian Cuisine because you will be disappointed. At the very least, avoid the buffet and maybe ordering off the menu is better?

Good Luck!

Vegetarian's Paradise – I am a vegetarian. First time in the last 9 years (since I came to the US) I felt there is some respect for a vegetarian at a restaurant in the US. This place is for people who love veggie food.

Nice location: easy to find, and jut enough parking space. It wasn't as crowded inside the restaurant; enough space to move around. The tables were clean, and the staff was swift and efficient.

The food was delicious. The dishes were mostly south Indian. There was idly, sambar and my favorite Dosa and there were many more things that I couldn't try. I'll try them the next time.

One thing for sure, you will eat a lot more than you normally do. Take your family and friends; they will love it.

If Indians eat there, ya know it's good... – This place rocks. Always packed with Desi families - that's how you KNOW it's not only authentic, but good too.

Can't wait to try the lunch buffet.

BTW - Your water glass will NEVER be empty. They are ON it when it comes to refilling.

Not For Me – If you are looking to dine on bread and rice, this is the restaurant for you. I ordered a soupy looking vegetarian dish meant to be put on a mountain of rice to absorb the sharp, unpleasant taste but since I didn't want the carbs I could NOT eat the $10 dish I ordered.

On the other hand, I will say that the staff was courteous and helpful and the place was packed. But it's not for me.

Great food, Atmosphere, so what? – The selection of foods on the lunch buffet is extensive, flavorful, and changes daily. The staff is polite and will offer helpful hints to the inexperienced. No doubt Woodlands is my favorite Indian restaurant in Nashville.

Best vegetarian place in Metro – A fabulous Indian restaurant. The lunch buffet is matchless and a wonderful way to sample Indian delicacies. The place gets very busy but they keep up with the pace; fresh food is constantly appearing on the buffet table. They also operate the Tamarind restaurant, which serves non-vegetarian cuisine.

Slow service and fruit flys – I went to woodlands for a meal with a friend the other night the food was very good but despite there only being 6 other people in the resturant the service was very slow and there were several fruit flys flying around my head. After eating the meal it took half an hour for the check to arrive.

Really BAD Service -- and at a buffet!! – Today's lunch at Woodland's is my last. Food is always good, but service in terms of seating, etc., has always been marginal.

Today, as I returned to the buffet for dessert, the waiter proceeded to take my almost full chai tea back to the kitchen, and clear my table. I motioned for him to stop, and the person at the table next to me also tried to get his attention. He nodded, and continued to the kitchen, then returned with silverware, but not the tea. I assumed he was going to replace the tea -- bad assumption. I finally flagged another waiter, and asked for the tea to go -- he brought me cold, leftover tea -- one sip and I threw it out. I just hope it was MY leftover tea I was drinking. There were plenty of tables avaiable, so there was no need to rush. I don't like the idea of paying for something to have it taken away, and there are plenty of comparably good Indian restaurants in town WITH good service AND food to waste money on a place like this. That's it for me -- I'm going back to Sitar!

Authentic and yummy – You know it is an authentic ethnic restaurant when the majority of the customers are from the place the food is from.

Tasty food, huge menu - even meat eaters can find something to make them happy (which is usually hard to do in a vegetarian place).

Parking is odd - you can park in the front of the building, or all the way in the back. Don't park in the numbered places - those are for the condominium residents.
