BEST IN NYC – I recently finished the three-month nutrition program with Dave and plan on beginning fitness training with him this summer. I must say that everything you hear or read about Dave is absolutely true; believe the hype! Not only did I lose weight, but I have a much better relationship with food. Dave’s extensive and impressive knowledge of how food affects the body and his personable demeanor make him a phenomenal trainer who will set you on the right path towards a healthier lifestyle. I’m looking forward to training with Dave this summer and urge anyone who is even remotely interested in checking out Physique to run, not walk, to the studio. The sooner you do, the sooner you’ll start to feel like a new you!
The absolute best. – After three months working with David, I have signed up for another six. No, I don't have frivolous money to spend; quite simply, he has quickly proven to be an invaluable investment. Just as "July Baby" said it earlier, he is the master of changing bodies (and minds).
David is not your typical trainer, so much so I don't like calling him that. A blend of trainer, wise sage, nutritional spiritualist, anatomical guru-- whatever you call him, he's nothing but down-to-earth, caring, and completely focused and committed to making you the best version of yourself inside and out.
In three months, my body has really changed. My friends, colleagues and family have taken notice. I have referred many people to David based on the results they've seen.
I would even say I work out LESS now. After David honed in on some cardio, weight training and nutritional issues, everything took care of itself- even stubborn complaints I never thought I could change.
It has been such a surprising educational journey with him. I thought I knew a lot; I have been active most of my life and have followed health and nutrition as a hobby. But he takes his mastery of the human body and nutrition to a whole new level. Other "trainers" just don't have the deep, intuitive skill that I have witnessed with David.
I also shared with David a systemic allergy that I had suffered from for over six years- aquagenic pruritus. Doctors and allergists are relatively baffled- no one knows how to recommend finding relief. After a close inspection on my health and nutritional habits he put me on a food plan and within 30 days I had no symptoms, even during the most difficult months, summer. When no doctor was able to help me, David looked at the issue holistically and followed his instincts to a nutritional issue and he was right- thank god.
Above all, David is that person that you will come to for help in one area-- and he will help you-- but he will also open your eyes to things you never knew you needed but, in the end, may have needed more than your original point of action.

** The Number One New York Trainer ** – David is a master of changing bodies. He is always intensively focused on you when you work with him. If you want real and measurable results, I highly recommend David and Physique.
New York's Best Trainer – David, the owner of Physique, is absolutely the best trainer I've ever had. I sought out his help as soon as I moved to New York, partly to beat the winter blues and get in better shape, but mostly as a last-ditch effort to alleviate chronic back pain. Similar to the other CitySearch reviews here, I was impressed with the 5-star rating and glowing commentary, so despite my general "cheapskateness", I signed up for a 6-week commitment looking at it as an investment. At the first consultation, I could tell that David was passionate about wellness and looked at health beyond just the surface-level of weight.
David helped me build stronger muscles and taught me stretches that delivered the relief from back pain I had been desperately seeking. I lost weight and fit back in my old jeans in no time. Thanks to his HLC classes, I also improved my diet and stress management, which was incredibly valuable as I started a new job in a new city and undertook the task of wedding planning. David is so much more than trainer: he's your partner in health, helping you patiently and thoroughly investigate and understand your body, diet, lifestyle and all things related to wellness. I look at working out there like a mini-vacation: the studio is a zen-like get-away from the bustle of the city, the stretching and exercise take your mind off your daily stresses, and when you leave, you leave in a good mood. (You’ll be shocked how fast the hour flies by).
My first six weeks came and went… that was almost five months ago, and I'm too happy with the results to quit anytime soon. Run, don't walk, to Physique (and be sure to take the stairs...they get easier.).
He'll make you feel brand new, change will inspire you – Here's the truth: I'm a 18 year old high schooler who didn't want to go train with some old, unentertaining, snooze fest of a guy (or girl). So i was hesitant but Dave and I really hit it off. He's sarcastic, witty, knowledgeable, fit (because I hate trainers who aren't in shape/toned), etc. I trained at Physique for a month, twice a week, and within 2 weeks I saw results. Now I know that sounds like one of those weight loss program commercials but cliches are the best way to explain it. My problem area was and still is my hips and my legs. I'm not saying that now I'm perfect with no effort put into it because I'm forced to still do the workouts that he gave me now that I'm no longer in NY, but at least I have some direction now. he enlightened me on the right foods to consume in accompaniment with my exercise routine. I run cross country and play lacrosse but that cardio is just not enough. It is also because of Dave and Physique that I am now more aware of the high risk I am at in terms of tearing my ACL and am currently working to decrease that risk. Ultimately, LA Fitness just doesn't compare. So THANK YOU DAVE for everything and i know that you're just a phone call away if I need any support, encouragement, or tips.
Worth Every Dime I Spent – Best spent money and time!! Everyone knows that a persons physique is not just the result of poor eating and exercise habits, but it also carries strong emotional components. Dave is the MOST phenomenal trainer I have ever had. His knowledge in the mechanics of the human body, along with his life coaching, allows him to work with you on a truly personalized, and tailored program, which allows you to achieve your optimal results safely and in a short span of time. I interviewed him and several other trainers prior to going to the City and I felt from our discussions that he was the most knowledgeable. When I started with Dave I came to him with chronic leg and feet problems. I had been wearing orthotics for years. I had just gotten out of a cast after 4 months and was still experiencing issues. Months of Physical Therapy both prior to and after the cast ,wasn't helping. When I called Dave he seemed to know immediately what the problem was. After 1 1/2 weeks of working with him my problems went away. After a month of working with him I am emotionally and physically stronger, and a healthier individual. I lost 15 pounds during my month in New York working with Dave. He provided me with a strong basis in which to continue with at my home in Florida. I have continued losing weight via the modifications Dave helped me to implement into my life. We continue to touch base on an as needed basis, and after 6 months I still do not need orthotics, and have continued to be problem free! My doctors are amazed!! I look forward to my next trip to New York, not for the City , but for my workouts with Dave at Physique!! 2 Thumbs-Up!!
Smart Exercise – The distinguishing feature at Physique is David’s evident dedication to helping each individual. This is, at least, my opinion, since he has clearly observed and reacted to my varying abilities rather than given me a formulaic or prescribed routine. In one season working with David, I have overcome symptoms of recurring pain and learned how to train my mind to more effectively communicate with my body. Despite a disinclination to writing reviews, I happily write on this occasion out of sincere appreciation for my experience in training with David at Physique.
I would recommend Physique to someone looking to rev up their exercise regime to be more efficient and fun, as well as to a seasoned athlete interested in taking his/her game to the next level. For two decades, I competed at a national level in an amateur sport. More recently, various constraints caused me to give up that sport altogether and I fell into an exercise regime that neither challenged nor excited me to the degree I desired. At Physique, David has acquainted me with small movements that build upon one another systematically just as a competitive athlete might build his/her capacity towards sport-specific performance.
All in all, my sessions at Physique have introduced me to a smarter way to achieve physical and psychological exercise goals so that I can circumvent injury and generally feel great. This is fulfilling exercise.

The best trainer in NYC, hands down – David is the best trainer I've had in 15 years. I usually never write reviews on public forums, but I felt compelled to do so because David is authentic, honest, and delivers results. He really listens to your concerns and scrutinizes your body for the problem areas, and works hard to address them. I've had so many trainers/therapists pretend to listen to concerns but never address them, that I've lost count, and it is truly refreshing to find someone who believes in what he does and actually cares about solving your problems, rather than signing up as many clients as he can, focusing on watching the clock and/or getting you to buy all sorts of add-ons you don't need. I am probably one of the most skeptical consumers you can meet, never giving people the benefit of the doubt and requiring them to earn my trust... call it too many times of being sold on a service/product only to find out nothing was more superior than the salesmanship. I was intrigued at first given all the rave reviews on Physique, and was very impressed after my initial conversations and movement screening with him, but still a tad skeptical, so I initially only signed up for a 6-week session. Well, sadly for my fashion budget, I have just renewed for a 6-month package - that's how much I believe in his program. I implicitly trust that he tells me to do only things that will help correct my problem, and not just to 'sell me'... I'm also a fan of massages from therapist Katarina! The fitness world needs more trainers like David and more programs like his...if your goal is to improve your core strength, there is NO better place to start than at Physique.
A senior citizen's praises – David has been my trainer for over 6 years. I was referred to him by my husband, who's been Dave's client for over 7 years. As a former RN, I am really picky about people who talk the talk about anatomy & physiology, but know absolutely nothing. Dave knows more anatomy and physiology than I ever learned in my college level courses during nursing school. And he uses that knowledge to create individualized instruction for each client. The loft space is beautiful, and each visit is never the same, so I never get bored! I love working out with Dave, and feel very safe with my workouts. BTW, I'm a senior citizen, and feel confident that as I get older, working with Dave will continue to allow me to age with balance, strength, and excellent musculoskeletal health.
