Bad time – I've been to this bar man times and never been treated so badly.

I've gone for my birthday (2 years ago) and had a blast. I went one time after that and the music was too loud and I just left angry. Then this summer/fall we started hitting it up again lots after drinking at our favorite martini bar Lola's just down the street on fairfax. I had many a good time at bar Lubitsch...and then last saturday happened. My friend had a birthday dinner at Lola's and 8 of the guests decided to go to Lubitsch while me and a friend finished our drink and would meet them in 30 minutes. We get there probably about 10:30 and their is a short line outside - because our friend did not reserve a guest list in there we waited on the line outside. We looked fine - dressed up - there were maybe two or three groups in front of us - and the bouncer told us it was filled to capacity and he would try to get us in soon. Well first one group of his "friends" came to say hello and he let them in. Fine whatever....but this consistently happened - they would assure us they were filled to capacity and then they would let 5 more of his "friends" in. I understand the group he let in cause they paid him - I even understand a group or two of his friends - but when it gets to be upwards of 50 or more and he says that it is filled to capacity it is absurd. ABSURD. Finally 45 minutes later my friends came out and said it wasn't worth us being outside and them in. 10 of us drinking inside would have been a lot of gross on the bar - 10 happy people? no? so we took our business back to Lola's. When I spoke my mind to the bouncer dude in his stupid pansy a** corduroy jacket he said he was doing his best to let us in as they were filled to capacity bull....and I said you kept letting people you knew in - he gave some lame a** excuse...whatever bar lubitsch - you lost confidence in one ...don't know if I will be able to come back....as long as that pansy a** is still working there.

Never. – Gilded in our weekend best, my friends and I stopped by the well-respected Bar Lubitsch--something tells me it doesn't take its name from the tasteful, thoughtful films of Ernst Lubitsch, whose criticisms of Nationalist Socialist Germany (the n-word is prohibited) the bouncers could certainly learn from--to meet some more friends who got there before 10. We arrived around 10:30, and paramount to our quest was for with one member of our party to meet up with a potential female mate within the steely confines of the bar. Weeks of careful Facebook messaging had led to this moment.

There were 6 people in front of us in line at 10:30, and though I was wearing a collared shirt from my summer job four years ago and my friend a sparkling pair of Asics, it seemed that, given the time and space within the bar, we would be in there opening tabs and spending dozens of dollars on drinks that I'm certain were overpriced.

Sadly, I was never able to actually patronize Bar Lubitsch besides being an unattractive billboard for them. 12:15 rolled around--1 hour and 45 minutes we stood in line--and we were next, being lied to repeatedly by the bouncer that we would be in shortly. If not blinded by foolish Eros, we would have left an hour earlier and left to drink elsewhere, but no matter. We questioned why groups of guys--often without girls, and often with mohawks--were let into the bar willy-nilly. One member of our party peaced out after three douchenozzles with matching sweaters tied 'round their necks like Nantucket nancies were showed the way in--sans females!--while we steamed uselessly.

It's not that we're pathetic people--I know and accept that it takes a certain kind of loser to wait in line for over 90 minutes on a Friday for a bar that, by all accounts, looks prime to disappoint. Despite my own shortcomings, I know that I am not a trio of fuckbuckets with sweaters tied round my neck. A truly abominable treatment of people looking to have fun on a Friday.

Unhappy with the bouncers and the line situation – Before last night, I went to the bar on a Friday with 2 of my female friends and we got in, no problem, no wait. However, last night (Saturday), I went with a group of 15 for my friend's birthday. We waited in line for 45 min-1 hr! It was ridiculous because the bouncers continuously let in smaller groups for no wait at all. You're probably thinking: groups of females, and you're right, but they were nothin' special!

The bouncers finally let the bday girl in with 1 friend, while the rest of us stood angrily outside, until they eventually let us in in groups of 5. In summary, I was not impressed by the outdoors staff.

can't spell this place, but I like it – Went to a birthday party here awhile ago. Had a great time. The music was good and so were the drinks. I sort of agree with that last review...drinks are pricey, not a fan of that but I'm well paid so I don't mind too much...and yes, the drawing room has cheap drinks and cheap women...prolly the easiest place in l.a. for a one night stand...

Cool decor, not so cool crowd – I went to Lubitsch on a Friday night at 10:30 and had no problems with the line. I did, however, get the third degree for my Drivers License even though it was legitmate. Once inside, the opening room was full of casual not so great looking people. Going through a dark, red, corridor you end up at the backroom, where there are a few people dancing to some interesting spins (not the "latest" hits you would find at a supper lounge). If you're looking for the atmospher of a lounge, this isn't the place. This is a causual and lax environment. The worst part is the line at the bars. It took me and my girlfriends about 10 minutes to finally get our drinks. Price for a vodka soda was around $11

Random music – Being a European in LA is a strange experience when it comes to nightlife. The ID obsession is funny at first, and then it becomes annoying, as it did at this bar, when the doorman decided that my driving license was insufficient and asked me if I had my passport with me. Now, is it just me, or does anyone else think that bringing my most important document to a bar, where I could potentially loose my purse after a wild night on the tiles is a really stupid idea?! Or maybe they are taking the Russian theme so seriously that you need a visa to get in? Eventually he did let me in, grudgingly. The decor is great, although Russia is not the first place that sprang to mind - it felt more French in the front room. I had a couple of vodka cocktails, as befits the place, but I have to agree with the nice man at the bar that they use some poor quality vodka - it was vile.

Our group ventured into the back room, which had a great atmosphere going, and was just the right side of full, especially for a Wednesday night. We had a lot a fun dancing, which was down to the fact that we had a great group of friends, and not down to the music, which was really poor. Not only was the choice of music odd (Madonna Like a Virgin being a prime example) but the CD kept on skipping. There was a DJ there, but in all honesty, the taxi driver home had a better selection and mixed it better.

So in a nutshell, fun can be had if you are in good company, even at this place, which is okay, but not worth any hype.

My New Favorite Bar – This place rocks. No nonsense at the door. Plus three different vibes to choose from. Ultra chill outside patio vibe, classic bar vibe inside, and dance club vibe in the back. The sound system in the back is banging. Sounds like they put sub woofers in the booths. Two bars make getting a drink a quick process, plus the $exy bartenders are actually in a good mood. Imagine that!!! I loved this place and I can't wait to go back.

Love this place – I can't say enough great things about Bar Lubitsch. This place has now become one of my favorite bars in LA. I recently had my birthday party there and the staff was so accommodating and gracious to all of my friends. The bar itself has some beautiful people and stiff drinks, but it definitely lacks the Hollywood pretension. Also - dancing in the back room rocks. I highly recommend it!

Great late-night scene – If you like dancing to ecclectic DJ mixes, a lively ambience, or molotov cocktails, then Bar Lubitsch is definitely for you. While this place is always packed, it almost doesn't matter because it has so many other pros--good vodka drinks, an awesome dj, and a lively dance floor. Definitely good for a girls night out.

New Weho Bar makes its mark as a neighborhood hangout – Fun lively atmosphere with attractive staff serving lots of vodka drinks and everthing else. I have been 3 times now, twice during the week and once on a friday. After 10 this place gets very busy and crowded. Back room has large bar and DJ. Good for private parties. Front bar is cozy and well designed. At entrance there is a large smoking patio with lots of tables and chairs as well as waitresses taking drink orders. Only drawback for singles -- esp men -- is that there are too many men. 3 or 4 to one on all nights.

bring a date.

Staff friendly, prices mid range. A nice place to have an early drink with friends, unless you crave the later scene.
