Well everyone seems to be getting better cuts than Me – I got a "air cut" not a hair cut, most of the cut were snippers clipping the air between my hair and her comb. Everyone DOES walk out with the same cut here, and the same color treatments, at least the day I was there they did. My hair went brassy literally the next day after coloring and the cut. I was charged extra (???) for Toner, that I wonder if was used, due to the brassiness of my orange highlights (they were blonde). For 179.00, I expect a cut (something with style) and color that actually looks better than I could do myself. Yes they have a bit of a 'fit in" deal and if you aren't in tats, there is an 'tude that provails through out your cut/color. Come on, I didn't ask for spa care, I just wanted a good cut and color...seems I missed it.
Great place to get a custom cut – I've been going to Lucky 13 for a couple years now, and have pointed many people their way. I tried several of the high end salons and was spending $50, $70, $85 for a cut and it was ridiculous. Good grief - it's hair! I went to Lucky 13 and was delighted to save a bunch of money AND get a hair cut that I asked for. When I went to certain big name salons, I noticed everyone walks out with same bob/cut du jour.
I am a middle aged white collar and feel very comfortable there - not sure about the "don't fit in" comment. The folks at Lucky 13 are great! They listen, suggest, and give you what you ask for. It's a funky, modern, kitchy place, and it's fun. It's young people running a business that works for them. Not pretentious.
You can call ahead for an appointment, but they are also really good about only taking a limited number of call in's so the people who didn't call ahead don't get punked. It's the best of both worlds. Give them a try. I get my hair cut and don't walk out of there with a "hair doo".
Great haircut, great people, great deal! – I was in Columbus on business and stopped in on my way out of town. I stopped in, put my name on the list and read a few magazines while I waited. The receptionist was very nice and I jus thung out nad watched what was going on. I was in my boring business clothes and did NOT feel out of place (like the person below indicated). Ali did my hair and I left super happy. You can call and put your name on the list in advance and also to make sure your stylist is working. They also have a loyalty program. Your 13th cut is free. I love it and I will be back!
Time wasted – They must not be concerned with building new clientele. I drove down to this salon based on the rave reviews it received. I signed in with a handful of people in front of me, so I knew I had to wait. Read through 3 magazines, when I realized I was waiting for over an hour! When I started paying attention and 3 people were taken before me, which had signed in after me, I walked out. That place made me feel like I didn't matter. I didn't see any fabulous cuts walking out of that place. Don't waste your time.
Hairs the deal.... – I was in Columbus for a few days & was in need of a hair cut before I left home. I deliberately held off so I could try this place after reading the reviews. Most places I researched were not open on Mondays but Lucky13 was. I wanted a break from my same old hair style (or lack thereof). I had my hair cut by Amity. She asked me what I wanted/didn't want...and LISTENED. She explained what she thought I needed to get the effects/style I wanted and asked what I thought about her suggestions. When I got done my hair looked AWESOME! She introduced me to a few products and showed me techniques that she thought would help me get volume (my hair is straight as a board) but didn't push the products on me. Their prices were reasonable I thought, $30 for a shampoo cut & style, $12 for eyebrows (she reshaped them and they look great now) When I go back to Columbus again, I will definitely go back. The shop itself kind of had me a little scared when I first went in, a little "punk"-ish, a lot of black, tattooed people, 3 people with pink hair (male and female!) waiting for hair cuts etc. But I stayed open minded and it was worth it. I liked the fact that they don't require appointments since I was traveling. I only had to wait about 10 minutes. Everyone was friendly (even the pink haired people! LOL!) The shop is accessible on the public bus route.
Amazing place. Phenomenal haircut. – I was a little nervous to change my usual hairstylist. shay did my hair and was the awesome and sweet. she is VERY talented I highly recommend her and the salon. You can not beat the prices or the atmosphere. The salon the very welcoming. I could not be more satisfied.
Not quite what I expected... – I was really excited to go to the salon after reading reviews online. However, once I got there, I was treated somewhat rudely as if I didn't belong (I was dressed up in office clothes). After I spoke with the stylist, I became a little nervous because my hair is very curly and can't be cut like most other hair. Unfortunately, the stylist did attempt to cut my hair as if it were straight, then declined to finish blowdrying it leaving me with a wet and frizzy mess to walk out with. The product she put in my hair didn't help smooth my curls, it just made my hair sticky. I had plans for the evening, but had to cancel in order to rewash and attempt to style my hair. I ended up with 3 distinct layers that looked like some type of mullet when I wore my hair curly. I was really upset and disappointed at how my hair turned out and I was charged more than quoted because of my length and thickness (for shampooing, I assume). I will never go back, as I felt my directions were ignored and I was treated poorly because I didn't look as if I "fit in".
Best Stylists in COLUMBUS! – About 3 haircuts a year for the past 24 years means that I've had about 72 haircuts in my lifetime, which I think makes me an expert. This was by FAR the best!! I'd gone to Kenneth's before (read my review), where they treated me poorly and gave me a cut totally unsuitable for my thick, curly hair. I finally went to Lucky 13, based on the reviews I read on Citysearch, and couldn't be more pleased! Laid-back enough to make you feel completely welcome and trendy enough to make you feel like a movie star! I told Amity I wanted something different, and let her take over. She gave me a kick-ass cut that's 100% perfect for my personality and style. At only $21, I had enough leftover to give her a well-deserved tip. Bravo to Lucky 13 for rescuing my unmanageable hair, and double bravo to the women who work there. Forget about all the snooty chain salons who overcharge you and go to Lucky 13. I promise you'll feel like the luckiest person alive when you leave!
Excellent salon – I LOVE Lucky 13!!! Dawn gave me an awesome cut and highlight! I had been searching for a new stylist as my former stylist moved out of state. It had been 4 months since I had a cut and color and every day was becoming a bad hair day and worse and I was desperate to get something done immediately! I was thrilled to come across Lucky 13 on this site with great reviews and even more happy to learn they only take walk-ins and I didn't have to book my appt. weeks ahead of time like other big salons. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was very relaxed and I didn't once feel out of place. Dawn was great - very sweet and helpful. She gave me styling tips for my cut which were really helpful. For me, it's a big plus to be able to walk in AND get an awesome style without having to plan the appointment so far ahead of time. I love the flexibility that they are open 7 days a week. I will absolutely return to Lucky 13 and highly recommend it. Try it, you will not be disappointed!
Pleasantly surprised! – I was reluctant to go here, because I wasn't sure what the "crowd" would be like. I'm not "alternative" or dress like a rocker and i thought there might be lots of people that I didn't fit in with. But I also feel like that at a spa, where you don't feel like you look good enough for the people who work there! I checked this place out because i needed a new look and i saw it got good reviews. I will absolutley be going back! Jamie was wonderful. I told her i wanted a completely new look and she took care of it and was careful not to make it too bold or "out there". Normal but different for me. I am pleased because I am 25 and feel like I finally got rid of my high school hair cut and look more my age! I suggest you check this place out! Also, the prices rock! I paid less than $100 for color, cut, waxing and tip! and this was after over 2 hours of work being done on me!
