My dining experience at Mura was extraordinary! The ambiance was wonderful. The food was not only plated beautifully, and it was absolutely delectable. They have the most amazing wait-staff that make sure you enjoy every moment you are there. To guarantee that you will be treated like royalty ask for Mitch. He is awesome.

Amazing service, great food – I've eaten at Mura many times and regardless of the occasion I have never left disappointed.

Whether is a quite dinner for two or a birthday party of ten, the staff never fails to provide a great dining experience. They are always right there with drinks, food and smiles.

The food is always great. I love the variety of the sushi menu. The chefs incorporate many unique ingredients in their rolls not seen on other menus in the area, including mango and cilantro. Try the Screaming O. It's delicious. The tuna salad and edamame make for great appetizers.

Mura is always my first choice for sushi.

Mura North Hills – I love that Mura offers alternative ways to create a more interesting and tasty roll. They steer from the traditional and basic from of sushi and add bold flavor and taste to create delicious meals. My personal favorite: the Screaming-O.

great atmosphere, service and food – I went to Mura with a friend for a belated birthday dinner. We are both big fans of sushi and have been to Mura before (and had great experiences), but my most recent experience is most worth mentioning in detail . . .

Our server was awesome. He was so attentive and even was sure to tell us about some new sushi rolls that were not listed on the menu. Our drinks were never empty and the food service was at the perfect pace. Not too fast, not too slow.

The sushi was AWESOME. My friend and I each ordered one of the new rolls - I believe they were called the Wolfpack and the Carolina - plus an additional roll (Ebi Maki and Piano) each. I can't remember which was which but one of my friend's rolls was HUGE. I've never seen a sushi roll with so many pieces (at least 10 or 12). Talk about getting your monies worth. One of the rolls I had was at least 2 inches, if not 3, in diameter. AMAZING.

Definitely an experience worth every penny.

Best Place to Enjoy with Family! – Mura has been highly recommended by my friends. So I took family to Mura two weeks ago. It was Saturday night, but I was afraid that we had to wait. Suprisingly, no waiting!! I was happy that I could choose from a wide assortment of fresh sushi and sashimi. I strongly recommend you try blue fin tuna and the Screaming O roll.

This place is Amazing!!! – The Sushi is simply AMAZING, I travel a lot and this is one of the best experiences that I have ever had. The sashimi is really good. I love the different dishes that are prepared there and the way it is presented. I will tell everyone I know about this restaurant, and I will be back with friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful experience and for finally allowing me to find a great restaurant that I can look forward to coming to again and again.

Definitely not the best – I had high hopes of this place after searching the internet for a good sushi restaurant and saw that they won the award for "best sushi" in Raleigh. But after my visit, it was clear that one should not believe everything on the internet. I don't write reviews normally but I felt I had to let the people know of my experience compared to all the rave review of this place.

I started out with some appetizers from the kitchen. The firecracker shrimp was good but the gyoza tasted like the ones you get at the grocery store. We then moved forward and ordered some sushi as a appetizer. We ordered blue fin tuna, salmon, yellowtail and toro which they recommended. I noticed the blue fin tuna did not look like blue fin tuna. I used to work at a sushi restaurant in Charlotte as a server back in the days so I know my fish. When I mentioned this they insisted that it was in fact a blue fin. I didn't want to make a scene so I moved on. The salmon was fine but the yellow tail and the toro was disapointing. Yellow tail had a bad after taste and the toro was still frozen inside yet melting on the outside. The rice was squeezed so hard it tasted like rice cake and I can see the indentation on the sushi from the chefs(who I am reluctant to call them "chef") squeezing the sushi so tight. The rolls were alright but nothing special. Almost everything had tempura shrimp in it. But I couldn't see the shrimp in most of the pieces. They must be using like one piece of shrimp on each rolls like the half price sushi joints. They also drown everything in spicy mayo and eel sauce that they all basically taste same by the end of the meal.

I was really disapointed with the experience. They were so busy even on a weekday and I could not understand what all the fuss is about. Someone needs to come and make a good sushi restaurant in this area and teach these people some lessons. Untill then, I agree with the review below and go over to asuka for same(better) rolls at half the price and waraji for the traditional sushi. I'd even go back to sushi blues or shiki sushi before returning here. What a shame, such a nice location and they ruin it with sush a bad sushi. If one of the good sushi restaurants in charlotte or other places came here, this place would be out of business in a year.

Average food at high prices. – # of visits : 3 (recently)

The Good : Selection and taste of the rolls are good but not consistent. They carry more variety of fish then your average sushi bar in the area. The atmosphere is nice and romantic and the tatami rooms are nice for private dinners. Service was also pretty decent even on busy nights. The restaurant is also conveniently located in North Hills mall with good parking located underground with escalators. Would have given 2 stars if it wasn't for the decor.

The Bad: The kitchen entrees and dishes are overpriced, even for north hills. It's probably safe to say that Mura is the most expensive Japanese restaurant in the area. This is fine as long as the food is worth it but that wasn't the case. The variety of fish is nice but out of the 3 times I've dined recently, only once I was satisfied with the quality of the fish. Nigiri sushi for all three time was below average, very inconsistent in taste and appearance. The rice was also not seasoned/made properly.

Summary : Fine dining prices for average food. They seem to overlook the basics to pump out their special rolls which are pretty good but you can get most of the rolls that mura has at azuka in Cary for half the price with their buy 1 get 1 free special. From what I hear it used to be the same owner for both places which explains their special rolls being almost identical.

P.S. Just noticed that mura won the best sushi award from citysearch. Either they reviewed them selves or the restaurant must have made some big changes. But from the looks of the "perfect" reviews right before the deadline........it's a little obvious...or maybe I'm just too suspicious.

Forget about the "Buy 1, get second one at 1/2 price" deal – The first time I went there, I was given a table in a dark area; I asked about being seated outside, but they did not want to do that, in spite of the fact that they could have combined 2 adjacent tables for a party of 4. I guess no big deal.

I went there recently (second time) and was trying to take advantage of their buy one, get the second one at 1/2 price deal. We ordered many $13/$11 suschi orders, and several orders at the $5/$4 level. I was expecting that if you bought a $13 suschi order, they would give you the next lowest one ($11) at 1/2 the price. Guess what? The cheapest one, at $4, was the one where the discount applied. This was clearly not explained to us in this way when we ordered! I don't mind paying for good food, but I don't like to feel cheated at the end. Would our party have assumed differently, we would have ordered differently. I would not have minded either being being told upfront how the deal worked. When the issue was brought up, they did not offer to review the discounts. This is deceptive

Given that my first two experiences left me with a bad taste, I do not plan to go back - there are many other good restaurants in the area.

Great Food, Great Service! – I dined for the first time at Mura just last week. The food was amazing, and the plates were beautifully designed with carrot butterflies, and flower tomatoes. The server was attentive and knowledgable. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back.
